CHAPTER 4        

Inviting a Girl to a Party, a Guide by Oh Sehun

Hayoung came a little early at school. She went to her classroom and saw that no one was there yet.

"Maybe I should sleep first" she said before putting her arms on the table and laying her head above it. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep, but not long after, she heard footsteps coming near. She thought that it was just a classmate, but she gets confused when the footsteps suddenly stopped. But when it started walking again, she can clearly hear that it's coming to her direction, and it stopped directly in front of hear. She wanted to open her eyes. But she’s a little bit scared. It was too early for her classmates to come. And there was a rumor that a ghost was hunting the school. But curiosity got ahead of her especially when she feels that someone touched her face.

 

She opened her eyes and widens it in shock.

 

"Yah!" She shouted and stands up. Who wouldn't be shock, she just saw Sehun's face just a few inches away from her face.

Sehun was clearly as shocked as her, but it was just a moment before his become emotionless again, as always.

 

Sehun then walked to his seat, ignoring Hayoung. Hayoung on the other hand, couldn't sleep anymore. There was silence between the two of them who was only in the room. Sehun's earphone was plugged in as he immersed in his own world. Hayoung, just stared at his back. But then Sehun's head tilted and Hayoung look away quickly.

 

"H-hey" Sehun called as he removed his earphones.

 

Hayoung slowly look at him. 

"Yes?"

 

"uhm, I'm just thinking ...uhm would you like to go to Kyungsoo and Jongin's party later?"

"uhm,,, why are inviting me?"

"uh.. It’s just that, most of our classmates were invited, and my friends ask me to ask you so.. yeah, if you're not busy"

"Ah" she said, a little bit disappointed, because deep inside, she wished that Sehun was the one who really wants for her to be at that party.

 

"I have something to do later, I can't go" she lied, knowing that she really has free time

"Oh, too bad, but that's okay, I'll tell them that"

"Okay" she said and ended the conversation, Sehun looks in front again and put his earphones on back. That moment their classmates started to enter their classrooms. 

 

Hayoung and Sehun were classmates from freshman up now to their senior year. Sehun was Hayoung's crush since then, but Sehun is a cold guy. She has witnessed how he rejected every confession to him. He coldly turns all the girls down. Sehun was just somehow very far from her. 

 

And even if they were classmates from freshman year, they only talked for a few times, you can count it with your fingers.

"Hayoung!!!" Chorong and Bomi called her. They were her friends from the other class.

 

"Hey unni" she greeted the two and they head to their usual table at the cafeteria where their other friends were waiting.

 

They were called APink, seven girls who were best friends since freshman year. The naggy leader Park Chorong, the fake maknae Yoon Bomi, the ahjumma Jung Eunji, the prim and proper Hong Yookyung, the quiet Son Naeun, the playful Kim Namjoo, and her, the real maknae Oh Hayoung. They were famous at their school and is considered the school's princesses. The boys want to be their boyfriends, and girls want to be their friends. They were not really rich, just average, but they were really dorky and nice. 

 

And of course, they have their counterpart, EXO, the group of 12 handsome boys. They were so popular among every student. And girls go crazy for them. Some of them were nice, some were prankster,  but some of them were just cold and unsociable. They're not really rich too but they were all smart, just like APink. 

 

From their table, the six girls can saw their one friend coming. She was holding her tray of food while talking with her boyfriend, before they separate ways.

 

 "Bye oppa, eat well" 

"Bye Eunji, you too" Baekhyun, a member of EXO and Eunji's boyfriend, said before he head to EXO's table. Eunji on the other hand, walk's to them.

 

Eunji and Baekhyun, EXO and APink's first couple started the so called ship called EXOPINK at their school. At first, many disagreed and don't like them to be paired up together, but soon, many have like and realized that EXO and APink were cute together. 

 

Of all members, Eunji is the most boyish in Apink, so many were shocked when she and Baekhyun announced that they were dating. And since then, other pairings come up from the other students. Many were fighting to whom Chorong suits with the most, Joonmyun or Luhan. But in the end, the leader couple ship stood out, and became real. Joomyun and Chorong started dating during their junior year. Luhan and Bomi couple followed, and now Kyungsoo is courting Namjoo. 

 

Aside from the official couples, the other ship was still famous among the students. Yookyung, the silent girl of APink was usually paired with Xiumin, who were once seen together, eating steamed buns. Kai and Naeun ship is getting stronger. Their shippers went low before due to Naeun dating Taemin, another famous guy. But after their break up, she was being paired again with Kai. And lastly, the Sehun and Hayoung ship. Both maknaes, same surname, both giant, but different personality. 

 

Hayoung, knows how her schoolmates ship her with Sehun, and she silently enjoys inside. Who wouldn't be, when other people already saw that you look good together with your crush, but even if many already said so, the guy, Oh Sehun, just couldn't see it for himself. He was always cold to everyone. He is playful with EXO, and that’s it, he would totally ignore everyone else. 

 

"Hayoung, let's go together later okay?"

Namjoo said, they already finished eating.

"Huh? To where?"

"Jongin oppa and Kyungsoo oppa's birthday"

"Oh that, I'm not going"

"What? Wait I thought Sehun invited you" Naeun asked

"Wow Hayoung, it's already Sehun who invited you, but decline?"

"Yeah, he did but, wait how did you know that?" Hayoung asked again, noticing that they mentioned Sehun.

"K-ai oppa told me. He said that they asked Sehun to invite you" Naeun said stuttering. This girl is really bad at lying.

"Unni, you know you’re bad at lying. Don’t tell me it’s your plan?” She asked her friends, only they know her feelings for Sehun.

"mianhae Hayoung" Bomi said

"It's okay, I’m not mad. But, you don't have to force him. Don't you know how awkward he is when she asked?! It's like he doesn't even want to talk to me"

“We didn’t force him, we let his friends ask him to do it, and they said that he just agreed” Eunji explained

"Were sorry, but please do come," Chorong said and smiled at Hayoung.

"uhn, I don't know”

Class is already over and all of the students already went home, but Hayoung was still inside the classroom, looking out the window and watch the sky’s beautiful orange color. She let her friends go home without her, knowing that they still have a party to go to. She really wants to go too; she wants to have fun with her friends and of course, to see him. But what would Sehun just think if he saw her there after she declined his invitation?

 

Hayoung stretched her body and decided to go home, when once again, she heard footsteps from outside. Deep inside she is wishing that it is Sehun again but she knew that it can’t happen since he was already at the party. And now, Students already went home, if there were some left, they would be on the library, but the library was on the other building.

 

“I thought you have something to do? Why are still here?” a voice asked

 

Hayoung’s body froze hearing the voice. It was a familiar voice, even if she just hears it for a few times, she knows very well the owner of that voice. Oh Sehun.  Hayoung slowly turn around and saw Sehun leaning by the door frame.

 

“Ah, I… I’m actually going now.” She said and grabbed her bag before heading to the door.

“See you tomorrow” she said and bow to Sehun before walking away.

 

Hayoung walks so fast that when she gets near the gates, she stopped to catch her breath. She gets really nervous with Sehun’s presence.

 

“Wait!”

 

Hayoung turned and saw Sehun, who was also catching his breath. "Did he run and followed me?” she thought

 

“Why?”

“Are you really not coming?”

 

‘Is he serious? He followed me just to ask that?’ she asked herself

 

“I..I told you that—“

“Can’t you do that other day? Is that really important?” he asked again

 

Hayoung was really getting curious, first he is asking her again to go to the party, and second, he was talking more.

 

“Did you make a bet with my friends?”

“What?”

“Why are you asking me again? I’m just really curious” she said, there’s no way that Sehun would ask her to come to a party, her friends was really behind this stuff. Because if EXO really wants to invite her to the party, they would just ask her personally, considering that she is friends with them, and of course, her unnis could just invite her. But why does it have to be Sehun?

 

“Uhm, No, we don’t have a bet or something. I understand what you mean, since I’m not really talking with you. I admit that they asked me to invite you for the party, but now that I’m asking you again, actually, I really want you to come”

 

Her eyes widen. Did he really said that? He wants me to be there? Am I dreaming?

 

“Hayoung-ah”

 

“Did he just call my name?" Hayoung face remained calm, but her mind was getting crazy. Sehun just calls her name, and the way he say it was really nice to hear. She wished that she could hear him calling her name like that everyday.

 

“why?” she asked. In times like this, her mind was really not working. Why did she asked why, she didn’t know, she just couldn’t say anything

 

“T-there was this big cake that we made…” Sehun said

 

Cake?

 

“I mean.. it was really big and I..I think we couldn’t finish it all. They said you’re appetite was quite big and you really like cakes so…”

 

Hayoung jaw dropped. ‘So he was inviting me just to eat their big cake? What does he think of me? A glutton? ‘

 

 

“What the? Really oppa, you should teach Sehun your ways. How can she say something like that to Hayoung?” Eunji said, who was with Baekhyun, hiding behind the tree and spying on the two maknae.

“I never really thought that he’s on that level. Aish, that’s why he never gets a girlfriend” Baekhyun said and continue to watch the maknaes, and the next thing they saw, Hayoung stomped away from Sehun, who was left there with mouth open, before he furiously pulled his own hair.

It was getting late, most of their classmates and some other friends already went home. And while the others were playing games, Sehun, on the other hand just sat at the sofa. Not wanting to join them. He failed, he failed miserably, how can he say that to her? She already thinks of him as a cold person, and now she must think that he’s some rude kid.

 

“Sehunie” Luhan sat beside Sehun on the couch

“I’m not on the mood hyung” Sehun said

“eyy, stop being like a girl, do you see that girl by the door?” Luhan said

“I don’t have time for your match-making thing. Don’t you see, I’m still depressed with what happened."

“Who told you to say thing like that to her? And when I said, look at that girl, you should look at that girl” Luhan said and hold Sehun’s said and turn it so he was now looking by the door.

 

Sehun’s eyes widen as he saw Hayoung there, she was smiling sweetly to Kyungsoo and Jongin as she handed them her gift. She glance at their direction and saw him looking at her, she quickly look away.

 

His friends made Hayoung sat on the sofa, the same as to where he is sitting, pretending that they don’t know what happened earlier between the maknaes. Hayoung sat down but far from Sehun.

 

They have a little chat, and Sehun just stayed quiet, listening to their conversation.

 

“Hayoung, I thought you won’t come” Jongin said

“uh…I do something earlier, but I tried to come even if I was late to give you those gifts” she said

“waah, you’re so nice Hayoungie”

“yeah, you even bothered to give us something, but our own maknae didn’t” Kyungsoo said and glanced at Sehun.

 

Sehun look away, pretending not to hear them. ‘those hyungs, they were really embarrassing me in front of Hayoung!’ he thought

 

“Hey, guys let’s play a game!” Baekhyun shouted

“Yeah. Let’s play truth or dare!” Chen added

 

Everyone gathered on the floor and form a circle, Hayoung and Sehun were the last to stand from the sofa.

 

“I’m sorry” Sehun said

 

Hayoung look to him and just nodded

 

‘God she hates me now!’ Sehun thought

 

 

After sitting with the others, the game already started.

 

“Let’s do it!” Chanyeol shouted and the other cheered, except for Sehun and Hayoung.

The bottle first pointed to Chorong, who chooses dare. She then have to hold Joonmyun’s hand for 15 minutes, which was an easy one for them since they were a couple. As the game continued, Hayoung noticed how the other react when the bottle almost point to Sehun.  The bottle won’t point to Sehun, it always pointed to the one beside him. And every time that happens, they would just ask the person to do a lame dare. It’s like they wanted for the bottle to point at Sehun so bad.

 

Then the bottle pointed at Hayoung, and everyone seemed so surprise.

 

“Okay, Hayoung. Truth or dare?” Bomi asked.

 

Hayoung wants to say dare, but thinking that it’s her unnis, they would probably dare her something that would include Sehun.

 

“Truth” she said, hoping that they won’t ask about Sehun

 

“What do you think of our Sehunnie?” Luhan asked her

 

“uh.. Sehun?” She looked at him but he maintained his pokerface.

 

“Uh,, he’s a cold person” She said, of course she just can’t say that he’s so handsome and almost perfect guy and she likes him.

 

“ah”

 

“okay, Hayoung, spin the bottle” Luhan said

 

Hayoung then start to spin it and it pointed…to Sehun.

 

“me?” Sehun asked the obvious

 

“uhm, Truth or dare?” Hayoung asked

 

“Both” Sehun said

 

 

“what?” hayoung asked,

 

“It’s okay, Hayoung, he asked for it, we’ll grant his wish” Jongin said and smirked

“Okay so Sehun, we know that you have this big crush for a girl. You really like her to the point that you reject every confession to you because you’re waiting for her to confess to you too. We want to know who she is” Jongin said

 

“And about the dare, you should back hug that girl” Kyungsoo added

 

“Fine” Sehun just said and stand up

 

Hayoung was intently watching, so there was a reason why Sehun always turn every confession down? He likes someone? But who could that be?

 

Hayoung remained sitting on the floor and watch Sehun walked towards her? And he is also looking at her.

 

Sehun then went behind her and bend down. Hayoung frozed once again as Sehun’s arms wrapped her in a hug.

 

“Hayoung-ah, I love you” he whispered.
