The One
Not What You Think"It's this building," she said, gesturing to the apartment complex on the right side of the street. Minho brought the car to a gradual stop on the side of the road, then parked before the building. He looked the place over quickly - not the best he had seen, but by far, not the worst.
He turned his attention back to his date, as she sat there awkwardly, returning his stare. Eventually, she looked away from him, down to the bouquet of flowers she still held on her lap. "Thank you for dinner. It was great," Taeyeon said. Her tone sounded somewhat sad.
"Thank you for accompanying me. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a date as much as this one.”
She smiled bashfully, but still looked a bit sad. She undid the seatbelt holding her in, then reached for the door handle.
"Taeyeon," he said, touching her arm gently and stopping her. She reluctantly turned back to him, knowing what he was going to say. "You're not obligated, but I have to ask...Will you go out with me again?"
Disappointed, she sunk back into the car seat. "You don't know anything about me, Minho," she said, "Believe me, you don't want to be in a relationship with someone like me."
"Why not? You have a dangerous secret you're hiding?" he teased.
"I have one," she said.
Minho took in a deep breath as he turned himself to face her more directly. "I'm not looking for anything serious here, Taeyeon. I just know that I really like you, and I really want to spend time with you. I don't know how long I'll be in town, but I want to make the most of it. I won't take up all your time. I just want the chance to get to know you more."
"But if you're going to leave town anyway, why bother?"
"Because I had a great time. And I've been having a great time since I first went to that restaurant to get a bite to eat." He reached out and took her hand from on top of the flowers. "I really enjoy being around you. Can we go on another date? Please?"
She looked down at their joined hands, watching as his thumb gently rubbed along her skin.
"Please? Don't make me turn into another Jonghyun who bugs you all the time."
He turned away with a sigh and rested her head on her hand, with her arm propped up against the car window. "Fine," she grumbled.
Minho smiled, just as excited as when she had agreed to the first date. "Next Friday then? After work?" That was a whole week away. Hopefully that was a long enough time span.
She glared at him out of the corner of her eye. "Don't take me to the city though. That's just unnecessary. There's plenty of nice places to eat at in town here."
"Whatever you want," he agreed.
She sighed as she popped open the door and made ready to leave. Before she could pull away, he lifted her hand to his lips and it a gentle kiss. "Good night, Taeyeon."
She gave him a weak smile before stepping out of the car. With a final wave, she left him and made her way up the stairs to the entrance of the apartment. He watched her until she disappeared through the doors, then remained even after that, thinking over the perfect night he had had with the perfect woman.
He was almost certain he had found the one.
A/N: Minho is a bit infatuated, methinks. lol
