Chapter 9

On that day

Eunha’s POV

“Eunha, wake up,” I could feel someone shaking me gently.

“Mina go away, it’s not time yet,” I murmured mainly to myself, absent-mindedly waving my hand around.

“She’s almost worse than Hyunseung,” I heard someone giggle, that was followed by a loud smack. “Ouch!”

“Someone’s going to have to piggy-back our younger sister,” I thought I heard Doojoon chuckle. “Kikwang! Come over here.”

“Awh man, but I’m carrying all these bags!”

“Fine then, lets wake her up after we finish packing up. Yoseob, try wake her up while we’re gone.”

I heard Yoseob reply and the sound of footsteps slowly drifted away, until there was only one source of footsteps sounding louder and louder.

“Eunha-ah, wake up.” I heard a soft voice whisper in my ear. “Practice is over, we’re about to head home.”

My eyes fluttered, but I kept them closed. I was so tired, and warm with the blankets around me.

“Eunha.” Something wet touched my nose and I opened my eyes, surprised. I saw Yoseob’s finger only a few centimetres away from me, dripping water onto the ground. “Sorry,” he smiled apologetically as he lifted up his drink bottle, the culprit. “I thought that’d wake you up.”

“Where are we?” I mumbled, rubbing my eyes. The thing that had kept me warm hadn’t been a blanket, but a navy oversized jacket that had probably came from the boys. I looked around and saw that we were sitting on a shiny wooden floor, with a mirror that covered one wall. It was empty, apart from a few drink bottles here and there. Yoseob was looking exhausted, with his apple hair and t-shirt drenched with sweat. However he was looking happier than before which counted for something.

“We’re in our practice room, we just finished. You fell asleep when we started our dance practice.” He told me, helping me up to the floor. Carrying the jacket around me, I rubbed my eyes once more and yawned.

“I’m sorry for falling asleep, I just haven’t had time to sleep in a while.”

“No need to apologise, it’s 9’oclock at night. We’ve been here for almost five hours.” At that time, the rest of Beast spilled into the room, laughing and filling the awkward and quiet atmosphere of Yoseob and my conversation.

"Sleeping Beauty, you woke up!" Doojoon chirped, smiling. Th rest of the Beast members were also wearing singlets and track pants, and sweating crazily. Their hair was all messed up, and I couldn't help giggle a little.

"We must look like a sight," Junhyung muttered as he saw where I was looking. He had his front hair clipped up like a little child, looking less like a murderer and more like a kindegarden student.

"It's okay, this shows our manliness," Kikwang joked, flexing his muscles. As all the rest of the members groaned and started to jokily punch him, Junhyung came up to me and looked at me in the eye.

"You're still sleepy aren't you?" he asked and I nodded. "Get on my back," he ordered me and I looked at him blankly. "I said get on."

"But there's no need to," I said, waving my hands in protest. "Really, I'm fine."

"No, you should. Think of it like a brother helping his younger sister," Yoseob said, saying this to me but really looking at Junhyung curiously. "Besides, this is the least we can do to someone who saved our lives."

I blushed, and felt my cheeks warm up. "It was nothing, really," I said but my eyes were drooping once again. Damn my lack of sleeping in the past. It was as if all the hours of not sleeping had suddenly caught up to me. I was surprised I was sleepy even after my 'nap' at the hospital.

"We can take turns," Doojoon added as they finished up with Kikwang, who was pretending to fall to the ground in pain. "and we're strong enough to... or at least most of us are." Doojoon stared at Yoseob who just glared back at him.

"I still don't think I could... you guys just finished practicing..."

"Are you going to get on yourself or do you need us to force you to?" Junhyung asked, making me suddenly not feel guilty. Jumping onto his back as hard as possible, he pretended to stagger.

"Eunha, you should really go on a diet," he groaned, stumbling to the door. I lightly punched him on the shoulder, and leaned my head on his back. Whether I had saved them or not, Beast fans were going to kill me.

"Okay, let's head out guys!" The lights turned off and we headed outside, the cold hair immediately catching my breath. I snuggled into Junhyung's back even more, trying to avoid the wind. Although I didn't think of Junhyung like that, it was nice to feel the warmth on a cold night like this. I closed my eyes once more and let myself fall asleep.

Junhyung's POV

When we were almost there, I could hear Eunha's soft snores on my neck, blowing my hair lightly. The night was almost pitch black, and hardly any stars were to be seen, with all the city lights. That was the main thing I missed about living in the country; the natural beauty.

From the corner of my eye I could see Dongwoon and Hyunseung singing to an old nursery rhyme, while Doojoon was laughing at Kikwang who was looking confused. Yoseob was looking at his cellphone, a blank expression on his face as he pressed the back button, then the screen, then the back button and so on.

"What you doing?" I asked him. I was pretty close to Yoseob, we had even lived together for a while before we even started living in the dorms. He had been quiet all day and I thought it might've been the prescene of Eunha's arrival but he hadn't even let out one of his famous laughs today, the one that sent everyone else into tears of laughter.

"Nothing, just checking my twitter," Yoseob said, turning off his phone. He took in a deep breath, and then breathed out, sending out a wispy cloud of fog.

"You're pretty quiet tonight..." I started, causing Yoseob to roll his eyes at me.

"Not the nag talk again, isn't it too late to start?" He asked teasingly, more like the Yoseob we saw.

"Just curious, that's all," I innocently said, relieved. He was probably just tired like the rest of us.

"Talking about being curious..." Yoseob slowly said, but before he could carry on Dongwoon shouted, "WE'RE HOME!" and grabbing Yoseob ran inside, Yoseob's protests echoing even after we came inside the building seconds later.

"Your're going to wake up the other people!" Doojoon sighed, but not loudly. He punched the password into the buttons and opened the door. Kikwang, Hyunseung and Dongwoon rushed inside, going straight to the bathroom to clean up. I could tell that they were trying to go to sleep as early as they could.

Slipping my shoes off, I walked to Eunha's room and layed her on the bed, before covering her with the blanket. She looked much younger than all of us, and looked pretty even without any makeup on.

"Junhyung, what are you thinking?" I woke up from my thoughts. "It must be the sleep that's getting to you." Shutting the door firmly, I entered the bedroom to see everyone lying in bed sleeping. After I brushed and washed my face, I crawled into my bed at the bottom and closed my eyes, sleepy for once.

Not knowing how much time had past, I had almost fallen asleep when i heard someone calling my name.

"Junhyung. Junhyung, are you awake?"

"Mmm. What do you want, Yoseob?" I mumbled.

"You like Eunha, don't you?" I could hear Yoseob smiling, and I shook my head stupidly without realising he wouldn't see me.

"No I don't." I slurred my words, not focusing onto the conversation hard enough.

"Yes you do, I'd never seen you warm up to someone that fast."

"This is my first day meeting her," I replied, ignoring that one little thought I had in Eunha's room. "I don't think I could have liked her in just that short period of time. Now are we done with this conversation?"

"Sorry, I just wanted to talk to someone," Yoseob  apologised. "Goodnight, Junhyung."

"Night."

Yoseob's POV

It was 11:57am and I still couldn't sleep. I looked at my phone one more time, and couldn't decide what to do. Should I text her? What if she didn't reply? And if she did, what would she say?

It was these thoughts that had been haunting me ever since we went out and I found out what day it was. I couldn't help but spacing out from reality, probably annoying everyone with how slow I was today. I especially felt sorry for Eunha, who I was going to be friendly to but I completely forgot she was even there, thinking she was one of us. She seemed to have fitted in well and I was glad Junhyung was taking good care of her even thouh I didn't know what Junhyung's reasons were. I didn't think Junhyung knew either. I enjoyed practice today even though it was extra tough because it allowed my mind not to drift onto the very topic I was thinking at this second.

To text or to not, that was the question.

I looked at the time. 12:01am. A new day. ''Too late,' I thought to myself and put my phone down as I got ready to sleep.

Eunha's POV

I woke up at 5:49am the next day, not realising how early it was.

"What the..." I cursed, as I looked at the time. Always having to wake up to make Mina's lunch and wake her up, I was now used to waking up early which now was not a good thing. Just as I was about to go to sleep, I remembered that I had to go back to Angel's Pizza to properly resign and get my last pay check. Sighing, I got out of bed to the toilets, making sure I didn't wake the rest up. After washing my face,  brushing my teeth and wearing jeans with a huge checkered shirt, I felt much better and decided to check the kitchen for something to eat.

"Up so early?" I was greeted by Doojoon, who had already bet me to it. He was cooking eggs, and I sniffed eagerly.

"I have somewhere I have to attend to," I told him, looking around for a snack bar or something.

"Shouldn't you eat breakfast? Junhyung was joking about last night, we really need to feed you," he said, touching my wrist with shock. "Your so skinny."

"It's in the family, and sorry I'm in a rush." I apoogised, tucking the snack bar away in my bag and beginning to put my sneakers on.

"Wait, give me your cellphone. I'll add you to my contacts just in case something happens." I gave him my phone, and he widened his eyes, before smiling. "Goodness me, your phone is ancient!"

"I get that all the time," I rolled my eyes, and received my phone to see 'Doojoon oppa >____<' added into my contacts.

After saying goodbye, I left the building feeling excited and happy to go out on the streets. Since it was early, there weren't a lot of people which was nice. My bus came just in time, and I sat at the back, pulling out my ipod. The bus was a little more full by the time we got to my stop, and some people were staring at me. I sub-conciously touched my face, wondering if I had something on it.

"Thank you!" I called as I got out of the bus and started to run to the shop. Inside, it was empty like it always was in mornings and although I was going to miss this place, I wasn't going to miss the smell.

"Eunha! Your back!" My boss suddenly appeared, a huge grin on his face. I smiled back, half surprised at his enthusiastic response and greeted him.

"Sit, sit down!" He tugged me not all too gently at a table, and then asked, "So how are you doing?"

"I'm doing fine, actually, couldn't be better." I said, finding it distracting while he peered behind me, almost as if he was expecting somone. "How's the buisness?"

"Excellent, just excellent." he smiled, tapping his fingers on the table. "Excuse me while I go get your check." He walked away, and I patiently waited. After a few minutes, I couldn't help but wonder where he was, and when I looked around I could see that he was on the phone, talking urgently.

"Mr...?" I asked him, wondering what was taking so long.

"Sorry sorry, just had a customer." He handed me the check and I thanked him, standing up.

"Wait, where are you going so quickly?" he cried, also standing up. "Aren't you going to stay a little longer?"

"Sorry, but I have to go." I apologised. I actually didn't have to, but it felt as if something weird was going on. Besides, the streets outside had gotten a lot more busier with people walking up and down. It was only 6.30, and if the traffic was going to stay like this it would take me a while to get to Beast's dorm. Saying goodbye once more to my flustered ex-boss, I opened the door only to be blinded with a thousand light-bulbs and sudden loud yelling, people talking everywhere. I put my hand infront of my face, wrinkling my eyes.

"Miss Park, how does it feel to be a national hero?" I heard someone ask, but I couldn't be sure with this amount of noise.

"Miss Park, is it true that you are now under Cube Entertainment's company?"

"Miss Park, will you confirm rumours of you living with Beast?"

"Miss Park, any comments to how your life has changed?"

What in the world was going on?
