Chapter 11

The man to my right gazed his eyes into mine, it was like his eyes touched the tips of my soul. A deep twinge of something foreign contracted my heart multiple times before I could breathe in air. His sharp jawline was where my fingers hovered over at the moment. If touching him could bring back memories, I wished that they could be intact there for forever more.

His palms cupped around my cheeks, thumbs running under my eyes and warming my cheeks. He inched his way closer to my face, colliding his lips with mine and at first he was gentle then turning his head to deepen the kiss became slightly rougher. It was as if he was yearning for this moment his entire life, or the entire period we acknowledged each other.

The absence of the puppy allowed me to climb into his lap, straddling over him for dominance. I received what I asked for, him letting me take over his lips. I couldn't help myself from biting his lower lip, it's plumpness taunting and tempting me.

I pulled away to allow air fill my lungs once again. In my life, I've never experienced an intense moment such as that. It created an anxious feeling bubble in my stomach at first but when he was accepting, I felt more comforted.

"I'm so sorry," I shook my head, returning to my side of the couch. "I shouldn't have done that." I spread as distant from as I possibly could, even placing Lacy and Biscuit in the vacant space in between us.

"Stop apologizing, it's like you committed a sin or something," he said curtly. "Did you think that you were suppose to have interest in someone else?" He was correct, I wasn't suppose to fall in love, especially not with him. We were from to different worlds that permitted us from having most things in common. He derived from a wealthy family that could possibly solve the problem of world hunger while I came from a rather poor family that lived in the dirts. They departed me from Korea in high hopes of searching for career opportunities that could aid them in debt that seemed to be knee-high.

"It's just.. I thought you had an arranged marriage and I am an interference," I murmured, lowering my head to avert from his eyes that wander over my facial features. "I don't want to cause any disputes in your family."

"It's not like they'll care if I actually love someone anyways."

His answer halted my thoughts in their tracks, "W-Wait.."

"Hm?"

"You love me?"

"Very much," he gripped his large hands to mine, intertwining his warm fingers with my icy ones. "Ever since I laid eyes on you."

"Y-You can't. You can't love me," I managed to stutter out. "You're suppose to marry one of the large market girls-"

"But," he interrupted. "They're a walking sack of cash for my parents. You are more than that, you're an actual life. Your eyes illuminate with the cheerfulness that I've been search for all of my life."

Daehyun then confessed to me at that moment that he would rather thrive and battle his way to survive against the harsh conditions of society, living in the dumpster if it meant that he could spend the remainder of his life with me in his arms. He whispered to me that he would protect me from any danger that I stumbled upon, clutching onto a sword to fight them away. Everything that spilled out of his mouth sounded like a script from a drama- cliche and as fake as plastic surgery- but the sincerity and genuine tone of affection spoke for itself.
