『WHEN THE DARKNESS COMES』[241 AD | 1772 years ago]
Fifteen years old Cao Yi Yun sat astride a great black stallion. She maneuvered the large majestic horse with ease as it galloped across the open field. Her five female attendants, all whom carried swords, followed closed behind on their own mounts.
Yi Yun needed to clear her head, after all she was just told by her brother, Cao Fang– the Emperor of Wei – that she was to be sent to Goguryeo to wed one of the nephew of King Dongcheon of Goguryeo to strengthen the alliance between Wei and Goguryeo.
Yi Yun was born, Liu Yi Yun, in the year 226 AD. She was a direct descendent of the last Emperor of the Han Dynasty, Liu Xie and her maternal great-grandfather was the infamous warlord Cao Cao. Noble blood ran through her vein, but there would be no records of her in the history. She was only a minor character within this great era of China.
Yi Yun’s lady mother died giving birth to her. Her lord father died during one of the war against the rival state when Yi Yun was two years of age. She was then adopted by her uncle Cao Rui – who was the emperor of Wei at that time. He had changed her name from Liu Yi Yun to Cao Yi Yun.
She was born during the period of The Three Kingdoms, when China was split into three different states – Wei, Shu and Wu – after the falls of the Han Dynasty. Life and war went hand in hand during that period of time. Alliances were forged between each state. Many of those alliances were forged by marriage.
