Raeha

I went to school the next day wondering if I should be scared or not. Who knows what Cho would make me do? Well, probably not his homework, since he seems to enjoy doing that. What’s the worst he could do? Make me carry his books around? Ha!

I went into the classroom and sat in my regular seat. The seat beside me, Kyuhyun’s, was empty. Where was that guy? I wanted my phone back. How else was I going to play games when I was bored with the teacher’s lecture??

I was talking to Sungmin when he looked up and asked “What happened to you?”  I turned around to see a sweaty Kyuhyun standing at the door. He trudged over to his chair and immediately dropped his head on the table with a thud.

“I woke up late, missed breakfast, and missed the bus. My dad’s car broke so I had to walk, but then a dog was chasing me. I also accidentally dropped the brown paper bag with my lunch in it, then a car ran over that, so let’s just say this morning didn’t start off all that well.” To add emphasis to this, his stomach let out a grumble. He moaned, “I’m starving!”

Sungmin asked, “Do you want me to buy you some breakfast from the cafeteria?”

Suddenly, Kyuhyun sat up straight. “No, I have an idea—how about you buy it, Jung?” He turned to me.

I pointed a finger at myself and scoffed. “Me? What makes you think I’d do that?”

As a response, he reached into his bag and pulled out my phone.

“What’s that doing with you?” Sungmin asked, suspicious.

“Give me that—“ I reached for the phone but he pulled his arm away quickly. “You think I’d give it back to you that easily? In case you’ve forgotten, we’ve had an agreement.” His face was serious. I really wanted to punch him. Instead, I relented. “Fine. What would you like?”

“Sweet bread, a pack of chips, and strawberry milk.”

My poor wallet!! I huffed and turned to leave the room, muttering to myself, “He could at least say please.”

Kyuhyun

“What was that all about??” Sungmin asked as soon as Raeha left the room. He was obviously confused. “Why is Raeha’s phone with you?”

I told him about how Raeha came over to my house, how she left her phone, and how we made a deal.

"Hmm..." Sungmin put a finger to his chin, looking thoughtful. "So she's already met the parents, huh?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Whatever you want it to mean." He smiled teasingly. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Seriously thoough, you just made her do that? I mean, you didn't even give her enough money."

"It's just a small snack, she can probably afford it."

"But before you got here, she was saying that her mom didn't give her any allowance this morning, and she might not have enough for lunch."

"Dammit!"

Without giving it much thought, I got up and walked out the door, ignoring Sungmin's shouts of "Hey! Where are you going?"

Raeha

Lining up at the cashier, I was so absorbed in my mental rant about Kyuhyun being a jerk that I didn’t realize it was my turn.

“That’ll be ₩10000,” the lady at the register said.

I opened my wallet to find I had only brought ₩5000. Crap, I thought to myself. “Uh, excuse me a moment.” I dug through my pockets to see if any money had magically appeared in them but to no avail. People were lining up behind me, and I felt their impatient stares on me. I turned to the cashier, about to cancel everything. “I-I’m sorry, I—,” An arm suddenly reached out from behind me and placed 5 ₩1000 on the counter. “Will that be enough?” I turned in surprise to see who my savior was and was greeted, shockingly, by the person I least expected to see.

“Kyuhyun?”

He grabbed the food placed on the counter and shrugged, then turned and started to walk away. I followed. “Hey! Wait up, Cho!”

He went to one of the cafeteria tables, sat down, and tore open the pack of sweet bread. I sat down across him. “What was that all about? You order me around and suddenly you’re nice? Are you bipolar or something?”

His face softened. “I guess I just felt sorry because I was acting pretty mean a while ago… I just had a bad morning, and I guess I took it out on you. So yeah… I’m sorry.” The last part came out as a nearly incoherent mumble. He took a large bite of the bread.

“Excuse me? What was that last part?” I teased, putting my hand up to my ear mockingly.

“I’m sorry,” he said, louder this time but still incoherent, his mouth full of the chewed-up bread.

As if on cue, my stomach grumbled loudly as well. Embarrassed, I put my hands over my stomach.

“Have you not had breakfast either?” He asked me.

“I don’t usually eat breakfast. I wake up too late,” I explained.

“Tsk.” Without me asking, he tipped the bitten bread towards me, offering it to me. I looked at him questioningly. “This isn’t poisoned, is it?” I narrowed my eyes at him. “Yah! If it were poisoned, would I be eating it right now?” He rolled his eyes.

“Don’t roll your eyes at me!”

He held the bread closer to my mouth and I hesitantly took a bite. I felt my stomach do a strange flip-flop and it seemed to float to my chest. I guess I was just really hungry.

“But don’t think this means you’re getting your phone back just like that,” he smiled, “we still have an agreement.” Hearing this, I pouted. How am I going to listen to music in math class now?
