As more and more days passed, Hoya found himself clinging to the leader more and more. Whenever Sunggyu went out to pick up some food for the other members, Hoya was on his tail making sure the leader had sunglasses so they could attempt to go without being spotted by fans. And the times they were spotted, it was Hoya who grabbed Sunggyu’s hand to pull him around a street corner and down an alley to avoid the fans.

He also managed to just naturally follow the leader around the apartment. When Sunggyu was hungry, it was Hoya who led the leader into the kitchen to cook for him. When Sunggyu was feeling lazy, Hoya was always right next to him on the couch flipping through the channels. When Sunggyu was tired and went to his room for a quick nap, somehow, Hoya managed to cuddle with the leader and not get questioned by the rest of the members for the suspicious activity.

Or at least he didn’t get caught for the first few days. But after a week of being the leader’s shadow, the other members noticed and couldn’t help but wonder why.

“Are you in love with Sunggyu hyung?” Sungyeol plopped down next to Hoya one of the few times the dancer was alone because their leader had a schedule.

“What?” Hoya turned to the lanky boy with wide eyes. He was happy that he didn’t just take a sip of his juice or else it would have been sprayed everywhere and then he’d have to clean it up. “Are you crazy or jus-“

“Are you crazy?” Sungyeol asked, everything about him was relaxed and casual. He even took out his phone to text someone, Hoya was just hoping the topic of the texting conversation wasn’t him.

“No, I’m not crazy. And I’m not in love with Hyung.” Hoya tried to turn his attention back to the television.

But Sungyeol never let something slide unless he was ready to give up on the topic. “Then why do you keep stalking him? Well maybe it isn’t something you’d call stalking, but you guys are always together. I think you love him.”

Hoya rolled his eyes, sometimes he felt like Sungyeol came from another planet. “I love him like I love all you guys. We’re Infinite, we’re like family.”

“Don’t lie to yourself.” Sungyeol chuckled.

Hoya knew that whatever he was going to say would have no effect on what Sungyeol would think, but he couldn’t help but defend himself, “I’m not. I think I know me best.”

Sungyeol shook his head, “You’d hope that. But you’re in so much denial that you don’t know a thing. Why else do you think you get jealous when another member goes near Sunggyu? Heck, I saw you glaring at Woohyun once when he was going to bed just because they share a room.”

“I did not glare at Woohyun! But I am glaring at you right now.” Hoya shoved at Sungyeol’s shoulder, hoping it’d make the other go away.

But Sungyeol didn’t. If anything he thought it was hilarious because he started to laugh, “Yes you are. But you were glaring at Woohyun before, too. Just get over it, you like our leader. Nothing wrong with it, just make sure it’s really you who’s gay and that it’s not just in your head because of your character. You hurt him, I hurt you.”

“What are you guys talking about?” Dongwoo seemed to suddenly materialize in front of Hoya before jumping onto the couch on Hoya’s free side. Hoya nearly had a heart attack from surprise and also the thought that maybe Dongwoo heard everything that Sungyeol just said.

“Nothing,” Sungyeol stood up, but had a spark in his eyes as he sent Hoya a quick smirk. He seemed sure that Dongwoo heard nothing. “But I’m sure you want to spend some time with your best friend, I’ve noticed you two haven’t been spending a lot of time together lately.” And with that, he left.

Dongwoo had a confused look on his face as he watched Sungyeol go, but once the taller boy was gone he turned his attention to Hoya, “He’s right. Where have you been?”

“Around,” Hoya shrugged. He knew he spent a lot of time with Sunggyu lately, but it wasn’t like Infinite members didn’t hang out with each other. “Why do yo-“

“You’ve been spending a lot of time with Sunggyu lately,” Dongwoo pouted, “Don’t you miss me?”

“You’re an idiot.” Hoya laughed, but felt more comfortable with this conversation than the one with Sungyeol. “You want to head over to the practice studio?”

“Sure.” Dongwoo smiled brightly and jumped off the couch, “Just let me go change.”

“Alright.” Hoya chuckled at how excited Infinite’s other rapper was to go dance. But it made sense. With Hoya dedicating all his time to either the drama or Sunggyu – even if he was in denial about it – the two dancers hadn’t had time to just dance together in at least a month.

“Howon?” Sunggyu chuckled when he spotted the dancer on the couch.

Hoya looked up surprised, “Aren’t you home early? I thought you were going to be out longer.”

“Filming ended early.” Sunggyu shrugged. “Have you just been sitting on the couch this whole time? I don’t think you’ve moved since I left.”

Hoya’s eyes were immediately attracted to Sunggyu’s smile since Sungyeol’s words were echoing in his head. Sunggyu did have a nice smile, but so did the other members. Only, Hoya never took the time to notice for the rest of them, but that didn’t mean Sungyeol was right, right?

“Howon?” Sunggyu’s smile changed to a scowl, “Are you even listening to me?”

“I’m dancing.” Hoya jumped off of the couch. He couldn’t be around Sunggyu right now, he needed time to think because that stupid Sungyeol put stupid thoughts into his head.

“You’re dancing?” Sunggyu raised an eyebrow. “Do you need some sleep?”

Hoya shook his head, “No. Dancing.”

Luckily, Dongwoo came in, which provided a distraction that Hoya was grateful for. He knew he sounded like an idiot at the moment and he really, really wanted to just stop talking.  And Dongwoo, bless his innocent heart, had no clue what was going on in Hoya’s mind. “Hey Hoya, ready to go?”

“Where you guys going?” Sunggyu asked.

“Dancing.” Dongwoo smiled, “It’s been too long. Did you want to come with us?”

“No, we both know I wouldn’t be able to keep up.” Sunggyu smiled, “You two have fun and be back by seven, we have a radio thing later that we can’t miss.”

“We’ll be back.” Dongwoo gave the leader a mock solute before grabbing Hoya’s arm to pull him out of the apartment.

And as he left, Hoya let himself look back at leader one last time. Sungyeol was just overreacting right? If Hoya liked the leader, shouldn’t he know better than everyone else? Or was Sungyeol onto something when he said because of his character he was having feeling to a close male friend that he thought he was feeling the same way? But no, he’s always had a special spot for Infinite’s amazing leader. Maybe Sungyeol was crazy, but maybe he was onto something.

“You alright?” Dongwoo asked as they walked down a back alley. “You look confused.”

“I am.” Hoya admitted, “But I honestly think I’m confused about what’s even confusing me.”

“I don’t get it,” Dongwoo replied, honestly looking like he wished he could understand but, no matter how much he tried, just couldn’t.

But then again, that was exactly how Hoya felt. “I don’t get it either. I wish I did, but I don’t. But come on, I just want to dance.”

“Alright, sounds good.”
