Blind Traces
“How are you grandpa?” So Min asked as her grandpa slowly opened his eyes.
“So Min my princess. I’m okay.”
“Grandpa, don’t ignore your pain again. Call me if anything hurts okay?”
“Don’t scold me in front of your fiancée.” Grandpa joked.
“Good Morning grandpa. How are you feeling?”
“I’m feeling good.”
“That’s good to here. Nice to meet you.”
“Sorry for seeing me at this state. So Min when did you arrive?”
“Last night.”
“So you weren’t able to attend the party?” So Min nodded. “I see. I guess fate wants an engagement party of your own. Hyun Joong, I’ll talk about this with your parents as soon as I got out from here.” Hyun Joong just nodded in agreement with grandpa.
“Grandpa. There is no need to rush this thing. We are still young and you need to take care of your health.”
“I’m getting old. I don’t know how long will I live. I don’t want to leave you alone. Hyun Joong will take care of you. Am I right?” Hyun Joong nodded. So Min looked at him wondering what he is thinking.
“Grandpa don’t talk about it.” So Min said after looking at him.

Mr. Jung’s friends visited him and sent their regards for his fast recovery. Flowers, foods and fruits flood the hospital room of Mr. Jung. The village people send him their freshly picked vegetables to eat. So Min and Hyun Joong was busy bonding with grandpa. They decided to stay there for a week until grandpa is fully recovered.
After rest of 2 days in the hospital, grandpa got the go signal from his doctors. Hyun Joong drove them to their house. So Min accompanied her grandpa into his bedroom to get some rest. She helped him to fix his bed and drink his medicine. After covering her grandpa with blanket, she gently closed the door and found Hyun Joong on the living room watching television.
“How’s your grandpa?”
“He’s sleeping now. Are you tired?” He shook his head while still indulge with the classic musical his watching. “Okay. What do you want to eat? I’ll cook. The neighbors sent many vegetables and fruits.”
“I know you’re tired just cook some ramen.”
“You sure?” He nodded. He glanced back at the preparing So Min for his ramen. He was amazed by her gracefulness and fineness.
Hyun Joong turned off the television as So Min called him to eat. They ate their meal quietly and a bit comfortable to each other not like before. They exchanged some few words in between their meal. It’s not as sweet as any soon to get married couple but their relationship is getting good as they spends time together.
So Min watered the plants in the garden after their meal. Hyun Joong was in his room feeling the fresh air when he saw the gentle So Min talking with the plants. He smiled to himself while watching her in the garden.
‘She’s really a country girl.’ He thought.

So Min fed her grandfather and helped him drink his medicine.
“You sleep early okay?”
“Have you eaten already?” So Min shook her head. “Don’t starve your fiancée, So Min. What do you think of him? He looks nice ne?”
“Yeah. He is nice.”
“Nice? Do you see yourself with him?”
“I don’t know. Haven’t thought about it.”
“Why? Have you found someone you like?”
“Someone I like? I don’t know.” She mumbled. Hearing the question made her remember about Song Woo Bin. She wondered how was he.
“So Min, you can’t escape this marriage. You won’t get any other man other than him. He is the only man you can have in this world.”
“I exactly know it. What if he’s not the same?”
“At this time he is on the process. You go now, I’m sleepy. Good night.” Grandpa smiled and kissed the forehead of So Min.
-------------
“What is your dream in life?” Hyun Joong asked So Min out of the blue. They were both in the garden sipping a cup of tea, from one of their neighbors.
“Huh? Why ask that kind of question?” She asked.
“Nothing. I just asked. What is your dream?”
“Dream? I grew up without having my parents at my side; my dream is to have a family of my own, a complete and a happy family indeed. I don’t want my child growing up with a broken family.” She answered seriously while looking at the stars. He was drawn into her sight of her serious face. Her face is small, angelic and calm.
“A complete and a happy family. In that family, do you see me as your husband?” He asked out of the blue, making both of them nervous. He wanted to ask another question but he slipped.
Their eyes met staring at each other’s eyes. They were finding answers at each other’s eyes. Her eyes are full of questions and confusion. His eyes are full of nervousness and questions.
“We can’t both escape the marriage so I suppose the family I’m dreaming off is with you, unless you’ll leave me hanging.”
“A family without love is trash.”
“I know. Is it the answer of leaving me hanging?”
“I didn’t say that I will leave you hanging, as you said we can’t escape the marriage. A family without love is trash. Hearing that your dream is to have a happy and complete family, I will now start learning to love you.” Their eyes met for a moment and he continued, remembering Woo Bin. “It’s up to you if you will make your dream come true.” He said leaving So Min at the garden. She was so into his words, replaying his statement in her mind. Hyun Joong scolded himself from being that bold to her.
