I gasped

“You asked me…”

Minho laughed

“don’t think too much about it.” He patted my head

I stared after him as he left the room.

That night, at camp…I think I remember it

I had gotten a push pop, Minho had given it to me. We were sitting on the fishing dock, and he was fidgeting, the way he always did when he was with me

I cant remember what he said, but when he took my push pop he walked off and that was the last time talked…

GAH! Why cant I remember! And how come he remembers…that’s hardly fair.

“Don’t overcook it!” Minho yelled

“Shoot” I had forgotten about the spaghetti, Luckily I was just on time.

I served two plates and set them on the table

“Its done” I smiled contempt at the work I had put into this

Minho walked in and sat down across from me

“So… would this count as a first date?”

I choked on my spit, and began to cough up a storm.

“I was kidding” he laughed “just like 8^th grade” he began stuffing his face

8^th grade… then it wasn’t the ice cream incident… what else could it be?

“Im just curious.” I stated “But, what happened?” I couldn’t look him in the eyes, I felt embarrassed that I didn’t remember anything

“About what?” he was still stuffing his face, he didn’t even look up

“When did you ask me…”

He looked up with spaghetti hanging from his chin

“oh that.” He finished eating his mouth full of spaghetti “It was the summer before high school. We were walking to the park, remember?” he paused and tried to meet my gaze

“oh.” I nodded

It was all to foggy but I remembered now, that day I was wearing roller skates, my uncle had brought them for my birthday, and Minho was helping me

“You fell down and when I helped you up I asked you…” he paused again but this time he looked away “if you wanted to go out” he chuckled then looked up  “but then you said something about never… and then you fainted.” After he finished he went back to eating his spaghetti

And just like that I felt like all those memories came flooding back to me. When I fell I hit my head on the tree trunk, but Minho didn’t notice, when he asked me to go out… I barley heard him, I thought he wanted me to try again, so I said never…and that’s what he must have heard…and then I fainted… because I had a concussion.

“no… it was-“

“Don’t worry about it. I have a girlfriend now” he shrugged “it doesn’t interest me”

I don’t know why those words seemed to crush my heart.

Was it the fact that I didn’t have a chance to explain myself, or was it that Minho didn’t care

“Oh, well that’s good” I finally got to taste the food I made, as soon as it touched my lips it made me want to throw up. It was disgusting…

I looked up at Minho who was scarfing down the spaghetti like it was the only thing to eat in the world

“you like it?’ I asked

“Food is Food” he shrugged and kept eating

“um, you don’t have to eat it.” I felt horrible, first I don’t remember him ever asking me out, and then I make this poisonous food for him…and to top it all off I’m invading his house

“Um, you know I think I’ll just head home…” I stood up and Minho followed quickly

“Yeah.” He wiped his face

“Um, thanks for letting me get cleaned up” I walked towards the door

“Yeah, no problem. Um, take the slippers…”

I gathered my things

“Thanks…” I stopped at the door

“If you need anything…” he began “I’m here.” He chuckled nervously

“Oh, um yeah…” I smiled “thanks” I opened the door and just then fireworks exploded, I jumped back and bumped into Minho

“Careful” he steadied me

I cleared my throat and stepped away

“Yes, um thanks…again, I guess I’ll see you around” I waved as I crossed the lawn to my house

“see ya” he stood at his door until I made it inside my house, and I have to say it was nice of him… this Minho, I never knew about… he was always cold then warm causing whiplash.

I closed the door behind me and sighed

The house was empty and I was alone
