Silencing Her Suffering
Date - June 10
Time - 7:20 AM
Place - Neighboring City's College
Chen's family has connections. My family has connections. Put them together, and we have a full scholarship for a certain, special girl.
Time - 7:30
I honestly don't know how she was convinced, but here she is, in a full, crowded, and noisy hallway.
Naeun actually agreed finish high school after an entire year of hiatus.
Time - 7:35 AM
I was officially in college, but I skipped a few classes so that I could accompany her on her first day back. While walking, I hoped that we would not receive too much attention so that Naeun wouldn't feel uncomfortable, but my hopes were shot down.
Words like, "Woah, I bet she's an ulzzang!"
"Is that girl new? She's so pretty! I want to get to know her!"
and "I reserve to show her around!" were exchanged.
I even heard several whispers along the lines of, "He's so tall and handsome! Is he her boyfriend?"
I could have forced those kids to stop talking, but I saw that Naeun was not affected.
She's healed.
Time - 7:40 AM
Place - In Front of Her Classroom
"Are you sure you're going to be alright in here?" I asked her, evidently concerned. She nodded readily.
"I'm not as afraid as before. I'm ready to be brave."
Time - 4:30 PM (Dismissal time)
Once I saw caught a glimpse of Naeun retreating from the building, I immediately ran to her.
"Are you alright? Did your classmates hurt you in any way? Do you want me to pull you out of this school? Did anyone hit on you?" I bombarded her with questions. If her new classmates dared to hurt Naeun in any way, I would not hold back to do whatever I can to stop them.
But she put all my insecurities to rest when she smiled one of the sweetest, most serene smiles I have ever seen in my entire nineteen years of being alive.
"I like it here."
