“Let’s be done with this.” Hana sends you a look that makes you feel like you’re a slimy cockroach. She shoots Baekhyun a fake smile. “Any last words before her funeral?” she asks.

“Don’t touch her!” Baekhyun jerks his back onto Himchan’s torso and yet, the latter doesn’t budge. All he does is let out a small grunt.

“Sorry, Baekhyun,” Hana says condescendingly. “The only one who gives the orders here, is me~ Now, release her!”

As soon as she finishes her words, Yongguk lifts a hand up in the air and flicks it forward. At once, a sharp shing! is heard -- the indication of metal hitting the marble ground as Sekyung’s chains are broken off.

Her figure slumps forward, hunching lethargically before straightening up again to look at you and you alone.

An icy chill runs down your back.

“Stop it Hana! Please! I'll give you anything, just don't hurt her!” Baekhyun begs with all his heart, but Hana is far from caring at this point. “Shush," she puts an index finger to her lips, "this is the best part.”

Sekyung her lips, starting to retract her fangs.

Baekhyun yells as a last resort. “Yoonmi, run!”  And just like that, your feet move on their own towards the door.

But you aren’t quick enough -- It’s you against a bunch of vampires, for crying out loud: of course, you’re not quick enough! Faster than lightning, Yongguk’s movements blur the air, and soon, your only escape is blocked by his burly body.

You halt in your tracks and let out a surprised gasp.

Hana smirks, entertained. An air of triumph is already forming around her. “Sekyung here is famished,” she says. “Why don’t you be a good little girl and satisfy her hunger, huh?”

Your eyes flash towards Sekyung, and you see that her lips are curled back into a feral snarl. “Yeah, Yoonmi,” her voice comes out familiar and your mind immediately remembers the girl who called you a so many weeks ago. “be a good girl~”

She starts to advance towards you, agonizingly slow -- under orders to prolong Baekhyun’s misery (and your’s), perhaps? Death is literally a few feet away from you and your breath starts to come out shallow at the thought.

Step.

Sekyung’s feet pad forward.

Step.

You shrink back. You squeeze your eyes shut.

Step.

Memories start to flashback in your mind -- the day you stepped into SM Academy, the day you met EXO-K, the day you met EXO-M...

Step.

Baekhyun!

Step.

Baekhyun, Baekhyun, Baekhyun! Even in the dark, all you see is Baekhyun.

“Baekhyun,” you croak, eyes fluttering open urgently now that the realisation strikes you. *I have to tell him now or else he’ll never know.* “I--”

Sekyung pounces then. You hardly have time to brace yourself for the blow before her figure goes limp for a second, then crashes to the ground unceremoniously in front of you.

Chaotic yells are heard, followed by the hurried thudding of many footsteps.

Luhan is the first one to burst through the door. Wasting no time, he punches Yongguk in the face, sending him staggering.

Jongup balks back in alarm. “What the--”

The air suddenly ripples in front of him and Kai pops out of nowhere right after. He tackles Jongup before the guy can say another word.

Hana and Youngjae look absolutely stupefied when Tao and Xiumin come barging into the room too.

“YoonMi!” Luhan rushes to your direction worriedly. You are still shell shocked on the spot as he starts checking your arms and neck for any injuries.
