Five
Only Time
[December 8, Sunday]
It’s Sunday and Kyungsoo was up early to go to the church. Kai was sleeping on the sofa when Kyungsoo entered the living room. His steps were gentle and silent yet Kai roused up with eyes open and body not moving in the sofa.
“Where are you going?” Kai’s head popped up to look at Kyungsoo who was already by the door ready to make his escape.
“Uhm… At the church…” Kyungsoo stood still with feet closer together.
“Can I come?”
Kai’s request made Kyungsoo surprised.
“Uh, yeah. Why not?”
Kyungsoo waited for Kai to change his clothes and washe his face.
“When you were.. uhm.. still alive. Do you go to church?”
Water was splashing on the bathroom sink as Kyungsoo heard from outside while leaning on the wall beside the door.
“I can’t remember clearly but… I think we do go to the church every Sunday.”
“We?”
“Me and my family.”
“So your family is still alive?”
The splashing stopped and the knob turned and Kai was half standing on the doorway. Droplets of water from the tip of his hair were slowly falling on the floor.
“Did I say family?” Kai’s face was again full of confusion.
