BOOK 1 : Chapter 9

 

The girls dorm were in a complete news flash.

Firstly Seohyun bravely bombfired her unnies with her unexpected news. Her unnies were not against her though. With all honesty, they are proud at their maknae, at least Seohyun will be an inch away from her books once in a while.

Yuri and Sooyoung are still in the same state, Sooyoung going with the flow in her relationship with Hankyung while Yuri and Yesung are still exchanging revenge.

Yoona finally told them about being the mystery admirer of Kim Kibum. Also asking them what to do next. All in union, the girls told her that she should reveal herself soon. As they believe ' it's better to let him know than keep your feelings to yourself '

Taeyeon is somewhat quiet because there is nothing new to her lately . . . or she just chose not to think about it.

Jessica and Hyoyeon wasn't able to dodge their questions. As usual they will say the same answer all over again. Though the girls don't believe the two of them, they will take those answers at the moment.

Tiffany and Sunny explained their weird actions. Mostly their neutral mood then suddenly swings to pure happiness. The others couldn't be any more satisfied with their situations. Right now, they can really say that everything is back to normal.

1 week later . . .

Happiness is in the air again as the sound of the school bell fills up the entire building. It's Friday again and that sums up that performers will have exactly 6 days and 12 hours before the real competition starts.

Taeyeon was really exhausted the entire day, she had to finish her homework extra early before submission to be able to practice. Same goes for Seohyun but the maknae doesn't seemed to be bothered.

Taeyeon felt like she was all wrapped up with responsibility. Her daily routine started to get busier and busier everyday, well all of them are but being one of the contestant, class president and taking care of 8 other troublesome girls is huge factor to weaken her body condition.

"Taeyeon-ah!" she tiredly turns around and gives a weak smile at Kangin. "Oh, you don't looks so fine. Are you sick?" Kangin worriedly placed his hand on her forehead and neck to check if she has some fever.

"I'm not sick, I'm just tired." She can't even hold back her yawn.

"But I was hoping that you would want to spend the weekend with me." his voice was slightly inaudible but she can still figure where his taking their conversation.

"Oppa, mianhae but we have our usual weekend ice cream eating . . . and you should finish your science project." she let out a airy sigh before she resumes speaking "I heard that you are the only one that's not finished with your simple machine and it's to be submitted on Monday plus I need to practice more, the finals is getting near."

He didn't mean to roll his eyes in front of her but he unconsciously done it because of slight irritation. Trying his best to calm himself, managing to smile almost bitterly. "And where did you heard from eh? Leeteuk-hyung?"

She blinked a few times and slightly frowned. What he said was true but he is saying it like she's done something wrong. "Neh . . . is there a problem with that?" Annoyance in present in her voice.

"No, no, no, why should I have a problem with that?" she really doesn't have time for his sarcastic replies and decided to just turn around and walk away. Even if she wants to ' talk it out ' she predicts neither one of them will explain and listen well.

Yoona was busy packing her things inside her bag when her eye sight was taken away and widely glares at Kibum, more importantly he was opening her own letter in front of her. She panicked and looked away but curiosity keeps hitting her and she kept looking a him. She always wonders how he thinks when reading her compliments to him. She thought it would be a perfect timing to ask him. Also a great help to add courage to her because she gonna tell him it's her sooner or later.

"Hey Kibum oppa what's that?" she innocently asked him. He doesn't know it's her after all, why not pretend she is just a asking him random question.

"Ah this?, just some random note left inside my locker from some random girl." Her heart slightly ached while he was referring to her actions and herself in the means of the word 'random'.

Still she has to put on a mask and pretend like it's nothing to her. "Is it your secret admirer?" she tries to uplift their mood by cheerfully asking him another question but he just carelessly shrugged his shoulder. Again she felt like she was in pain, again she must keep everything to her self and smiles at him. "So, what do think about it. It's really great to know someone likes you a lot eh?"

"Honestly it's great but I don't get why other girls do these kind of stuff. I mean, if they could write it down how come they can't say it in front of my face? You get what I mean?"

"So, you don't like it?" Her guard had fallen down. She couldn't control herself, she asked him with a disappointed and sad tone and her eyes were slightly getting wet from tears she's holding back.

"It's not like I don't appreciate it but-"

"but what?!" He was a little startled by her. Not too loud but her voice was not any softer. "Don't you realize that girls send guys letters because they don't have courage to even go near the guy she likes." she angrily takes her bag and stood up. "You should be honored because that girl made efforts to tell you things she like about you!" with that she exits the rooms not even minding her 'sisters' outside.

She went straight outside the school building and sat over the stairs. Eventually a few tears slips down her eyes. Can she be in any more pain? The fact that she didn't get a quite good response turned her confession idea upside down. Does she even have the right to be mad at him? Can you blame her? As much as she doesn't want to admit but she felt like she wasted her time and effort.

"Yah!" she quickly wipes and dries her tears before looking at the person who called her name.

"Donghae-oppa..." He looked a surprised, well he was. He can still see that her cheeks were a little wet from her tears and her eyes were swelling as well. Rather than to bring up a bad topic he flashed a smile and sat next to her. Determined to make her believe he doesn't sense anything wrong he tried to start a cheerful atmosphere.

"You're in a rush lately? Are you preparing for the contest too?" Satisfied that he at least made her laugh he stood up and help her get up as well. "There you go! You're in a better mood eh?" she smiles and nods at him. "Yoona, always be happy OK? Although I think you will always look fine in what ever mood you're in but I want you to be always happy, hmm." He helds up his hand signaling her to give him a high-five and she willing approved.

One final smile at her then he left as the students all rushed out of the building. She then made her way to the school gate where the girls always meet up. She doesn't know why but somehow Donghae's high-five attack always works on her when she's feeling down.

Seohyun told her unnies that she will be staying after school again but this time she is not lonely studying inside the library but practicing for her performance. She enters an empty classroom at the first floor where she and Kyuhyun agreed to meet.

"Oh you're here already." then she bowed at Kyuhyun. The boy just smiled at her actions.

"Polite as always. Anyway I've been listening to the song you told me and practicing as well so you want to try it now together?" He casually said to her. These few days they began to run onto each other more often and talked a little longer than usual.

"Of course, we haven't even tried a duet together and the actual performance will be next week so we should see each other more often." Kyuhyun couldn't help but smile while taking out his speakers and iPod from his bag. He likes the idea of seeing each other more often.

They worked as hard as they can, even with a few mistakes and off tunes along the way, Kyuhyun was thankful that she just laughed with him along the way. He really likes this side of her. Truthfully he was rather nervous about their practice run thinking that she will be all in serious and all focus mode but here they are giggling and enjoying each others company.

As their come to an end or just being tired after an hour of practice, they both called it quits. Seohyun was in the midst of leaving the room while Kyuhyun was packing his things but he called her.

"Neh?" she looked at him confusedly. Practice was over so she wonders why he was hindering her to leave.

He stopped what ever he's doing and meet her eyes "Do you. . . want to. . . you know maybe . . .  get some snacks? This practice made me hungry." He quickly resumed cleaning up his stuffs while waiting for her answer. She thought about it for a moment. It was still early, sun hasn't even set, she has done all her homeworks, no house chores has been assigned for her- "I'll treat you some sweet potato."

She widely smiles and excitedly nods her head while on the other hand he tries hard to hide his smile from her sight.

Taeyeon and Seohyun went to rehearse at the same time but in different rooms. Privacy is something both of them need in able to do better. She was all alone in the music room singing by herself. Her voice was the only thing that can be heard inside the room.

As she finishes her first practice run she heard clapping sounds coming from the door. She smiles as she sees the door now left opened and Leeteuk leaning on it. "I think you don't need to practice anymore."

"Nope, I still need to. I haven't tried it with the actual instrumental audio too. I must practice."

Leeteuk closes the door and walked to her. "Now that you mention it, are you planning on singing acapella?" She laughed and hit him at his arm. She wasn't that confident to do an acapella.

"I don't a can do that. I just can't get a clear audio of the instrumental, I only got a clear music sheet."

Leeteuk glanced at the piano behind him and looked back at her. "Say can you show it to me?" Taeyeon went to her bag and pulled out a music sheet then gave it to him.

He wordlessly sat on the piano and started pushing random keys. At first Taeyeon had no idea but then as he continues to focus on his task, she realized he was starting to play her song. He made a short glance and smiled at her. She could only look at the floor and shyly smile to herself.

"Aren't you gonna sing?"

Leeteuk focused back on the music sheet and played the song all over again. This time she starts to sing along. It was a perfect harmony. How Leeteuk plays the piano and how she sings. As the song came to an end, she happily claps her hands. Captivated by their collaboration, she hoped to do it again and again.

"That was good singing. Maybe one day I'll record myself playing this piece so that you can have a clear copy. I'll just use the recording room next door."

She slightly gasped "Really? You'll do that?!"

"Of course, I'll try to give to you on Tuesday or Wednesday so you won't end up having a cracking background music. We don't want that to ruin your beautiful voice now do we?"

With that agreement Leeteuk left the music room first and Taeyeon still in her bright mood even if she was now leaving the music by herself.

Tiffany's heels were ticking again on the library floors. It was the third time she was hushed by the librarian but again she gave her an apologetic smile. She almost walked all over the place gathering all the books she needs. She sighted as she puts down a 5 piece tower of books on the floor and a looked up. She took a stool and steps over it to get the last piece of her puzzle: History book.

He reads the cover, making sure it was the right one. Lost in her thoughts, her lovingly heels made her unbalanced and fell over the stool.

"Ow!" She shuts her eyes expecting to feel a hard hitting pain when she falls on the tiles floor but instead she feels warm and soft hands around her.

"Fany-ah..." When she opened her eyes, she was safe, unharmed and being carried by none other than Siwon. "You should be careful next time."

She shyly smiles and nods her head before looking around. Noticing what state she was in she clears and he gently puts her down. "Thank you Siwon-ah. It's not my fault though it's my heels."

He quietly laughs at her remark to not let the librarian hear them. Lucky enough that they were at the very back part of library or else they will be the center of attention. He glances at the pile of books beside her a decided to get it but it was her idea too. He accidentally clasped her hand while holding the book but she calmly pulls it away.

"You seemed to busy right now eh?" Siwon attempts to hinder the awkwardness coming.

"Well, we all are right." she answered and directed him to an empty table for her to study.

He puts down the pile of books and sat down across Tiffany "So does that mean I should leave you here now?"

"Aniyo." She quickly protested and regretted once she realized that she was sounding a little weird. "When I'm studying alone, I get bored and lazy."

Siwon grabs one of the textbooks and scans it "Oww get it." Not taking his eyes off the book as if he was actually reading it. "OK Fany-ah. Go study I'll keep you company so you will study hard."

Tiffany couldn't stop smiling while she was reading the book and taking down some notes. At first she thought additional studying and advance reviewing was a burden and irritating but with Siwon, how she likes it even he was just sitting in front of her.

Almost half an hour passed and none of them stopped holding a book. There were a few asking question and brainstorming interaction. Both might not be aware but they were actually stealing glances at each other. If it's not Siwon who is peeking out of the book he was holding it's Tiffany who looks up at him after she finishes writing down at her notepad. Just then two girls both sides of Siwon.

"Oppa You don't mind if we sit here right?" One of the girl asked.

"Oh Oppa what are you reading huh?" The other girl added.

"No I don't mind and this is just something to study on but can you please lower down your voice. were kind of studying here right?" he has his usual polite tone but on the other hand Tiffany couldn't help but frown at the two girls behavior. She just worked a little faster to finish her notes.

"Hey, would you like to study with us?"

"Yeah, lets move to other seats oppa." He didn't want to be rude but he couldn't stop the annoyed sight coming out of his mouth. Tiffany started gathering the books and bowed down to them.

"It's OK if you want to stay with Siwon-ah. I'll be going first." Just as she turns around she heard him getting up from his seat and the two girls keeps on whining why he's leaving them.

"Mianhae but can't you see I want to accompany her? I'll be going then." He gave them a weak smile and approached Tiffany. She then turns around to see his face went from annoyed with a frown to bright with smile. He took her books away from her grasp. "So shall we return this then?" She nods and couldn't manage to stop her eye smile to appear.

Seohyun and Kyuhyun are a little more comfortable with their practice after their short snack together. Leeteuk managed to gave Taeyeon a clear copy of the audio but one thing that is not clear is Taeyeon and Kangin because they haven't talked again after their small quarell-like-moment. Sure everyone got busier but it was all paid off when all of them passed . . . for now. Now that all student are currently worry free, moving on with the contest.

1 week has passed again . . . 

All of them were nervously and shaking backstage because finally it's THE day. Seohyun and Taeyeon were silently taking with the other boys backstage careful not to cause too much noise then suddenly.

"Everyone please put your hands together."The MC spoke up in the background. "To officially start this contest is Mr. Ahn Chilhyun!" Kangta didn't came alone. He with many other guys and as they walked to the center of the big stage they started their performance.

As it came to an end the boys were now really staring at each other. They are like reading each others mind assuming they are all thinking the same. Their teachers weren't joking when they asked the students if they could beat them.

At current state, Kangin and Eunhyuk really needed the extra points for extra curricular activities in hopes that it'll boost up their barely passing grade. Heechul wanted the extra credit not for scholarship purposes but be able to relax himself knowing he's a few marks up. As for Leeteuk, Sungmin & Shindong they simply joined in to help their 'brothers'. Seohyun was the one aiming for scholar, if she has higher grades her goal will be reachable thanks to Kyuhyun's help too. Taeyeon just wanted a good grade enough to get her into a good collage and her singing talent seems to be by her side.

After a few contestant gone by Leeteuk' and the boys are next. Shindong first peeks at the stage checking if all their props and stuffs are good then signaled the others to step on stage they first bowed in the center then proceed to their rightful places before starting to sing.

The audience roared cheer to them and went back stage again. Then the group category end and it's now time for solos to step it up but before Taeyeon, unluckily the first on to go, Brian Joo steps on stage and starts up his own performance.

Taeyeon started shivering once again, she looked around and her eyes were caught by Leeteuk. He gave her a thumbs up and mouthed her the words fighting. Taeyeon steps on the stage more calm and starts to sing her song.

Nearly half of the show is done when it was time fo the duets and what better way to start it than Hwanhee having and duet with Song Ji Eun.

With the last contestant waiting, Kyuhyun held Seohyun's hand. Their hyungs and unnies assured them that the stage they wanted was gladly granted with everyone's effort. Moving platforms and elevating stage were a little tolerated by Sunny's uncle. That has nothing to do with the scores though, their hyungs and unnies just wanted a good stage for the both of them. So honestly speaking Kyuhyun and Seohyun had a wonderful duet together.

The students were given a few minute break to relax and cool down for awhile. The competition pretty much became harder for all of them because of their teachers. Some students wondered if they purposely joined so that none of them would get the extra credit. The 4 judges reviewed their feedbacks and shared their opinions of every contestant.

When all the decisions are finalized they first called out the contestant under group category and a battalion of students compressed themselves at the stage. One by one the judges are voicing out their opinion to each group and little by little some contestants are told to leave the stage. Then it was only Leeteuk's group and Kangta's group left.

"Ahn-seonsaengnim," Moon Heejun called out his colleague "Seems like youv'e been doing something more than teaching eh?" Kangta just chuckled at his remark "You and your company made a huge competition for these boys. . . " Leeteuk's group nodded in agreement to Moon Heejun, it really was hard and Kangta's group were incredibly amazing despite the doing a short performance ". . .but I'm sorry to say that they won against you."

Leeteuk and Heechul looked at each other in disbelief. Shindong and Eunhyuk even shook each other's shoulder to prove they are not dreaming. "You boys did great congratulations." Kangta gladly congratulated them and left the stage. Sungmin and Heechul was bear-hugged by Shindong and Eunhyuk as Kangin and Leeteuk happily receives the trophy.

They were asked to stand at the back part of the stage as the judges called out for the solo performers to fill the stage. This time Moon Heejun decided to talk to the contestants generally.

"You all worked so hard except for you Brain Joo . . ." Brian and the other judges laughed hard "Seriously how can you do that to these students, you made it really hard for them too. . ." Brian just kept waving his hands to defended himself while Heejun keeps on joking with him. "But seriously Brian, do you know how hard Miss Kim Taeyeon went through just to beat you." 

Taeyeon stared blankly at the judges fully surprised on what Moon Heejun said. Only when Brian Joo shook her hand and other contestants left the stage was she able to thank them and gladly accepted her trophy.

She also asked to move at the back aside as Moon Heejun called the remaining contestants.

"Taeyeon-ah."

"Oh, Kangin-oppa . . " she sighted realizing it's been already 1 week since they last talked. " . . Chukahae!"

"Ah Gomawo, You too!" He was awkwardly standing there with his hands in his pocket. She bitterly laughed inside her mind, thinking how their argument made them distant to each other.

The  contestant under the last category starts to fill the stage once again. Then Taeyeon surprisingly slides her arms around Kangin. He stood frozen and truthly not knowing what to do.

"Oppa . . . .  were OK now right?" He returns the hug and smiles.

"Of course, after this we are probably have a celebration again with others." 

"Hey you two, cut it out!" They were forced to break away at a bit startled by Moon Heejun "Now as I was saying . . . " Moon Heejun cleared his throat before continuing his comments among the contestants.

Still, Kangin and Taeyeon couldn't hold their laugher but He later placed a finger at his lips to hush her down.

"Congratulations to Mr. Cho Kyuhyun & Miss Seo Joohyun." Students applauded and even the judges clapped their hands. "Hwanhee and Ji Eun did a pretty good job too but there you have it. May the winners please stand at the center of the stage."

"I really did see this coming." Choi Sunghee stared at them with admiration. "Wow these kids are really amazing."

"Yeah all their teachers are just second to them "Kim Yoojin giggles as she sees a group of people topples down the prize winners. "Look, their friends are very happy. "

"It's incredible how they managed to out stand them." Yoo Sooyoung "I have a feeling they will go a long way."

All their 'brothers' & 'sisters' went up the stage to congratulate them. The whole stage were on semi-chaotic momentum. All the girls and boys were roaming around every space of the stage just to send their greetings.

"Heechul-ah chukahae!" Jessica happily went to Heechul.

"OHH! My tiwn! I thought you weren't gonna congratulate me." He slightly jumps just by seeing her. Though it is mostly caused by his jumping heart deep inside. Frankly saying he doesn't want to be the first one to approach her, it's just not how he do things.

"Do you think that I would forget you, of course not." she gives him a nice warm hug and pats his shoulder. "Next time it's gonna be your turn to congratulate me OK?"

He faced her and flashed her his most known smirk. "Only if you were able to reach my record." as usual he walks away to the others while laughing evily.

As for Sungmin, he nearly fell down to the ground when Sunny jumped over him for a tight embrace. Good thing is that he was able to maintain his balance and he even got to slightly spin her around.

"Wow oppa chukahae!" Cheerful and energetic as always. Sunny always makes his day better.

"Gomawo my Sunny-bunny!" He quickly glanced around them and when he knew no one was focusing on them, he put her down and placed a quick kiss on her cheeks.

"I wish no one saw that!" Sunny hits his shoulder for being too naughty.

"What 'that' ? I don't know what your talking about." He crossed her arms and innocently frowned. Her face went to complete shock then she tried to hit him but he ran away before she could grab him. She chased him around their friends only to be stopped by Hankyung and Sooyoung.

"Yah you too calm yourselves." Sooyoung's powerful mouth intruded once again.

"Seriously guys your too childish." Sunny and Sungmin felt the 'why so serious' aura between the two they exchanged nods and executed their plan. Both pretended to be calmed down and gave the two a back hug then suddenly closed the gap between them.

Sooyoung laughed but SunSun couple still would let them go. "You two are so clever." she then wraps her around around Hankyung's neck but she soon went further and pulled Sungmin's hair causing his to back away a little.

When Hankyung and Sooyoung was free, he quickly took her hand and went down the stage.

"NO!" Yesung loudly protested and his voice is still overly loud and audible even if they were already at the school gates. Yuri made philtrum attack on him again causing the whole group to burst in laugher. "Yah, can you stop doing that?!"

"But they like it, right?" Yuri giggled.

"Come hyung, buy us another cake again." Shindong begged him.

"I said no, and why me again?"

"Wait, wait, wait " Leeteuk then interrupted. "He's right. Since Eunhyuk made a very outstanding rap performance he'll buy cake and ice cream." He applauded and cheered even whistled to stop Eunhyuk on what ever excuse he's gonna give. Hyuk asked for Donghae to help him buy stuffs and surely Donghae agreed.

"Hyuk buy drinks too." Ryeowook added. Hyuk then glared at all of them.

"Can he pay for it all?" Hyoyeon jumped in.

"Care to share your fund?" Hyuk sarcastically asked her.

"Wait on second thought, go pay for it all." laughed once again erupted in the group.

"Can one of you at least share a few money?" here he go whining at his friends.

"OK guys seriously can you give these monkey some spare change." Hyoyeon cracked another joke and Eunhyuk nearly went to hit her head but Hae stopped him.

"OK hyuk." Shindong spoke up "since your my rapping buddy I'll give you some." Shindong gave him some money and Hyuk was glad that it was enough to cover the part of beverages.

With all the places they could think of, they all agreed to have a fun celebration at the park, yeah most like it's a playground. Well it's nearing sunset so mostly all the kids who wants to play was already sent home. All of them maximized their time playing like kids while their 'delivery' is still not around. A few minutes of playing, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung and Hankyung took a seat and sat over the railing around the park.

"I'm hungry. . ." Sooyoung unconsciously complained. Hankyung quickly got a glimpse of Sooyoung's target but the carrier of it was fast and signaled him to shut down.

"They maybe not far." Hankyung simply replied. Eunhyuk glared evily at Hyoyeon's back and planning his attack as he gave all the food and drinks to Donghae. Donghae flew away to the side unseen and even waved at Hankyung to leave the scene. "Ah Sooyoung can you come with me for a while?"

"Hey don't monopolize my friend." Hyoyeon told him.

"What is it anyway?" Sooyoung looked at him curiously. He then began whispering words to her then Sooyoung nodded at him. "Ah Hyoyeon-ah. We'll ne right back OK?" She made an 'OK' sign and Hyoyeon just nodded though it was not for her but for Eunhyuk to check if he's ready. Hyuk nodded while holding a plate full of whip cream and waited for them to leave.

As soon as it was just the two of them. Eunhyuk huffed on last breath before smashing it into Hyoyeon's face.

"YAH!!!!" Hyoyeon scream her anger off while Hyuk ran fast and laughed hardly. Both fast runners chased each other around the playground while the others happily ate at the grass and watched them.

"HAHAHA!! That was priceless." Yuri laughed so much her stomach hurts, little does she know that someone also held his grudge against her. Yesung suddenly slides in ice tubes at her back. She jumped up from her seat while Yesung made fun of her. 

Right then they can finally say everything is normal. All in all it was a fun and happy day. Most of them are just waiting for the other one for whatever their next move is. . . . .
