Sunhee's POV 

We're now walking home from SMK Assunta .

My alma mater 


BYE-BYE ASSUNTA!!

I waved at my school as the gang has walked in front of me . 


Catching up with them , I ran near Amer and walked beside him .

He seems down for a reason.

The others were chatting along happily .


Cece wants to play at the playground which the twins and Minwoo obviously would'nt miss the chance to play around .

As they play on the swings and slides , I climbed on the monkey bar and sat on top of it snapping photos of everyone playing around .


Cece and Minwoo on the swings, 

The twins pranking Hana by pushing her off the slide making Benji laugh and Hana pinched his cheeks . 


I turned around , realizing that someone is MIA . Missing in action . 


Then , someone shook my shoulder making me jump .

I looked and saw Amer beside me .

I hit Amer by the arm . 

Sunhee : Oi terkejut saya dibuatnya! (You gave me a shock)

Amer winced and rubbed his arm and said 

Amer : Siapa suruh termenung jauh sangat? (Well , who asked you to daydream so far?)

Sunhee : Saya cari awaklah . Awak MIA tadi . (I was looking for you . You were MIA just now)

Amer : Hmmm , okay . 

He mumbled while playing with his fingers .

He never has been this quiet .


He's always the moodmaker , my prank buddy and a big brother that I never had . 

I decided to break the silence . 

Sunhee : So how's Ina?Where is she? She didn't welcomed me back huh?

He stopped playing with his fingers and sighed .

Oh god , please tell me that they have a row again . 

Sunhee : Am , is there something that you wanna tell me? 

He looks at me with his eyes misted with tears , and blinks to keep them from falling . 

Amer : She .... she passed away three weeks before you came home . 

He whispered , trying hard not to cry .

I was speechless the minute he said those words . 

Sunhee : Am , you're pulling my leg aren't you? 

I asked him with disbelief hoping him to say 'Yeah , it's just a joke' and laugh but no , he shooked his head and muttered 

Amer : I'm so sorry Sue but this is reality . I still can't believe that she's not in this world anymore 

He quickly wiped his tears before anyone can see .

My tears has fallen too .

It can't be .

She called me to wish me luck for my finals . 

Sunhee : How? 

Amer : What?

Sunhee : How did she-

Amer : Heart cancer 

Sunhee : Ey , you never let me finish my question? Pabo .. 

Amer : She passed away on the 14 of November at 5:30pm in Assunta Hospital . 

Amer's flashback~ 

I visited Ina in the hospital after soccer practice .

As I opened the door , I saw her sleeping peacefully .


Not wanting her to wake up , I tip-toed gently to her bedside and placed her favourite flowers on the table .

Hydrangeas .


Then , I heard mumbling . 

Ina : Amer , jangan tinggalkan aku (please don't leave me)

She was sleep-talking and I see tears in her eyes . 


I went to her side and held her hand , whispered to her that it's gonna be alright . 

She slowly opened her eyes and hugged me , crying again . I hugged her tightly not wanting to let go . 

Ina : Amer ... 

She sniffed as she lets go of me . 

Amer : Yes , Bam-Bam? 

I called her with her nickname 'Bam-Bam' short for chubby in Malay .

Maybe this will be the last time I'll call her that 

Ina : I'm scared of dying , I don't want to die yet . 

Her eyes were still flooded with tears .

I wipe her tears and said 

Amer : Ina , just remember that everyone will die in the end . No one will live forever . 

Ina : But I still want to be alive , live my dream ....

Amer : Am tahu (I know )

Ina : Am janji akan sayang Ina selamanya?(Promise me that you'll love me forever?)

Amer : Pinky promise

I said while linking pinkies with her . She lets out a smile and said . 

Ina : Do me a favour Am? 

She said as she gave me 5 envelopes . I looked at her , confused with the envelopes . 

Amer : What's with the envelopes? 

Ina : One for each . Green for Benji , Pink for Cece , Purple to Hani , Blue for you and lastly yellow for Sunhee . 

Amer : You don't need to do this . 

I said holding both of her hands . 

Ina : And Am , please don't tell Sunhee about this . I don't want to make her sad during her finals . You know how sensitive she is . 

She says with a giggle . 

I blinked a few times to keep my tears from falling down .

Ina looked at me and said 

Ina : Don't hold your tears for me . That's bad for for your health ya know 

Winking at me , she gives me hug and then I cried .

I just can't hold my tears and she cried along for a few minutes .


We both cried for 2 minutes and we both were laughing looking at each other's face . 

Amer : I think that's enough crying

I said handing her a tissue and she blows on the tissue , throwing it into the dustbin beside her . 

Ina : Am , you have red eyes 

She points at my eyes 

Amer : The better to see you with my dear 

She then pointed at my nose which gets easily red when I cry

Ina : And your nose is red

Amer : The better smell you with my dear 

I said tickling her by her ribs making her laugh 

Ina : Am , stop it!

Amer : Nu uh ... until you call me 'abang' 

Ina : Really Am ?... Comel lah awak ni ... Hahahahahaha , Okay okay abang ... (You're so cute , okay okay darling)

Amer : Now I'm satisfied

I smirked as she pouted .

I took pictures with her so I'll have photos with her

We both say our good nights , I promised her that I'll visit her tomorrow .

She nodded and waved , so did I . 


The next day , I was on the way to the hospital until her dad called my phone telling me that she's dying . 

Next thing I knew , I was running to her room and ran to her side . 


She was smiling at me , her breath going up and down .

She can pass away in any minute now . 

I held her hand and she said to me . 

Ina : Amer , please say my goodbyes to the gang and Sunhee . Tell her that I wished her luck for her debut . Ask them to read my letters when I'm gone 

I nodded , crying and muttered 

Amer : Aku sayangkan kau Ina , jangan tinggalkan aku ... (I love you Ina , please don't leave me)

Ina : Maafkan aku Am , aku akan sentiasa cintakan kau . Thanks for the memories . Maaf zahir batin ya Am . (I'm sorry Am , I'll always love you . Forgive me Am)

She said crying as well .

I nodded again and then her breathing is going down . 

Amer : Say the kalimat syahadah 

I recited the syahadah for her and she followed every single word I said .


And just like that , the love of my life .

Siti Salina binti Ahmad passed away while holding my hand with a smile on her face .


I cried and held her hand that started to get cold .

Her mother cried as well as her dad pulls her into a hug . 



At her funeral , I prayed to God that her soul is resting in peace .

Our gang is sad too , especially Hani who looks onto her like a big sister . 


Now I just have to tell Sunhee . 


End of Amer's flashback~

I just sat there not realizing that I've been crying while listening to him .



Again , I quickly wipe my tears . 

Amer : I'll give you the envelope after this alright?

Sunhee : Alright . 

I said as Benji called us 

Benji : Oi Amer , Sunhee! We're leaving ya two!!

Sunhee : Ah! Wait for us!! 

I shouted as we both jumped off from the monkey bar and chase after them .

I sniffed and Kwangmin looked at me with worry . 

Kwangmin : You okay Sue? 

Sunhee : I'm fine , just a little cold that's all .

He doesn't seem convinced but pats my head and walks beside me . 


As we arrived at their house  , it's already 5:53pm . 

Amer gives me a yellow envelope . 

Sunhee : From Ina? 

He nodded and said 

Amer : Read it when you got home not now ah 

I nodded and keep the envelope in my sling bag .

We all went our homes and I quickly went into my room .


The boys just kept quiet . Youngmin and Minwoo went into their room while Kwangmin went into my room with me .


Granmama cooked some steamboat for dinner .

I hid my sadness from the others and joked around with my dad 

Sunhee : Dad , it's been a long time since we did this . 

I said twisting my chopsticks , and appa looked at me with a cheeky grin

Mr.No : Okay , ready? in the count of three . 

Sunhee : 1 ...

Mr.No : 2...

Sunhee : 3!!

We both were trying to grab the last fishcake with our chopsticks

Yup , a chopstick fight .

In the end , Dad was putting it in his mouth and I snatched it right at his face .



I laughed at the twins who were quite blur at the moment .

Eating the fishcake , Appa clapped his hands and said 

Mr.No : You improved a lot Lil Prankster . 

Sunhee : Thank you daddy . 

I smiled at him , and excused myself from dinner.


After I took a hot shower , I went into my room again and opened the yellow envelope . 


Inside , there's a letter and a picture of us two ice-skating at Sunway Pyramid years ago .

I opened the the letter and read it slowly 

Dear Sunhee , 
 

I'm sorry for not telling you about my sickness . I don't want you to cry in your finals . If I do , your papers are gonna get wet 

    Anyways , I enjoyed our times together singing songs together , ice-skating and so on . Those were my favourite moments.I remember when I first dated Amer when we're 13 . You were only 12 , just finished your UPSR . 

You pranked me by putting Benji's pet lizard on my head . I bet you were giggling while reading this letter . Aren't I right? I would like to thank you for being a good friend who always support me until the end . Please take care of Amer for me .

    Thank you so much for the memories Sunhee .Live your dreams when you have the chance to do so .Be strong for the gang and yourself . I know that you can do it.

I folded the letter with my eyes beginning to water .

I didn't get to see her before she died .


I took the picture of us ice-skating and stick it by the shelf.


Just then , Kwangmin into the room drying his hair with his towel.

I wipe my tears before he can see it .


I thought he was just gonna go to bed but instead , he came to me and pulled me into a bear hug.




He whispered at me 



Kwangmin : Sue , don't bottle up your feelings . I'm here for you ... 

At that moment , I started crying with him still hugging me . 



Sunhee : I didn't get to say goodbye to her . I feel so bad for not being a good friend . 

Kwangmin : Sssh , there ,there Sue . Don't say that . You're a very good friend . 

Sunhee : Really? 

He nods and pats my head , calming me down . 


That night was the first time that Kwangmin has seen me crying .

I've always kept my cool while at Korea not crying to sad news and etc . 


As I lay on my bed with him covering me with my blanket , 

Kwangmin : Good night Sue

He whispered as I closed my eyes and he turned to go up to his bed .

Kwangmin's POV

Kwangmin : Good night Sue 

I whispered as she started to feel sleepy .

Looking at her sleeping with her blotched face . 


Since we got back from the playground , I knew that something's up . 

Other than her time of the month , this is the first time I've seen her being so sad . 


Remembering what just happened , I just wanted to calm her down even if I don't know what's going on .

It's better if I stayed out of it and wait until she's ready to talk about it.

And I fell into a deep slumber ... 

2:58am~

I woke up to someone sobbing .

I looked at my phone , it's nearly three .

Outside the window , it was raining heavily and I can even hear thunder . 



As thunder cracks , I hear someone squealing . 

It can't be Sue , she should sleeping right now . 


I got up from bed and tip-toed quietly to Sue's bed .

I was right , it did come from her . 

Kwangmin : Sue? Are you okay? 

I stuttered as she unveils herself from the covers , her face painted with frightness all over . 

As she sits upfront , thunder strikes again and she hid under the covers again .


I'm not the type who's good in comforting others , so I sat on her bed facing her and slowly unveil the covers . 

She's still sobbing but better from just now .


I wiped away her tears and said 

Kwangmin : Don't cry anymore , you look like a racoon when you cry 

She looked at me and giggled a bit . 

Kwangmin : Hey , you laughed . 

Sunhee : Really? A racoon? You have got to be kidding me?

Kwangmin : It does okay . You really look like a racoon . 

I continued , making her roll her eyes and muttered



Sunhee : Whatever , Sorry for wetting your shirt last night KM . 

Kwangmin : It's okay , as long as you paid for it . 

I smirked as she made a face and mehronged 

Sunhee : Andwae , I won't pay for it .

We both laughed a bit .

Thank god that she's smiling .

I can't bear to see her cry again . 

Kwangmin : Wanna talk bout it? 

Sunhee : Talk bout what?

Kwangmin : About you crying last night?

She sighed and muttered 

Sunhee : A friend passed away . She used to be Amer's girlfriend . 

Kwangmin : How did she passed away?

Sunhee : Heart cancer , she died when we're having our finals . 

She started to cry again .

I hugged her and pat her head , calming her down again . 

Kwangmin : Isn't she the girl who called you at 3 in the morning just to wish you luck?

Still in the verge of tears , she nodded .

Kwangmin : Oh , the rain stopped 

I muttered , looking at the window as she lets go from the hug and wiped her tears . 

Sunhee : And so is the thunder 

Kwangmin : Wanna see the stars? 

She nodded again taking her bubble bottles as I opened the sliding door leading to the balcony . 

Sunhee : Wow! The sky is clear again! 

Kwangmin : One , two , three..

Sunhee : What are you doing?

Kwangmin : Counting them 

She look up to the sky and ask again

Sunhee : Counting them what? 

Kwangmin : Them stars 

I said still counting them , where was I?

Oh , twenty-one , twenty-two...

Sunhee : You're so cute ya know

She giggled as she blew some bubbles .



I feel that my face getting hot .


Shrugging it off , I turned and looked at Sue as she running around popping the bubbles . 

I took one of her bubble bottles and started blowing bubbles around making Sue goes popping more bubbles. 


Well , as long as she's happy . I'm happy .
