Kibum didn’t want to go home. He knew that there would only be yelling if not crying and if not that then his dad would find some excuse to beat him and his mom. His parents stopped getting along ever his dad took up drinking and his mom was never home because she had to work.

“Damn it!” Kibum shouted kicking the ball not caring in which direction it went.

“Ouch!” he heard a voice cry out “Is this yours?” a boy asked him

Kibum was about to reply when he found himself speechless. Standing before him was a beautiful boy not much older then him. He had gorgeous brown eyes and shaggy brown hair. If Kibum didn’t know any better he could’ve sworn he was in love.

“Hello? Are you okay?” the boy asked concerned when Kibum wasn’t answering

“Yeah sorry um um”

“I’m Jonghyun.” The boy said with a smile

“I’m….. I’m….” Kibum continued to stutter  

“Kim… Kibum…” Jonghyun read as he leaned in close to read Kibum’s name tag. ”Cool name!”

“Thank you” Kibum said feeling like a total loser. He had forgotten to take his school name tag off.

“You’re a pretty good kicker. Care for a game?”

“Sure”

•Couple hours later•

“I’ve never seen you around here before.” Kibum said as they walked along the river

“I just came to visit some family. I‘m leaving next week.”

“Oh” Kibum said sadly

“But let’s not think about that instead let‘s meet here every day till then okay?” Jonghyun said with a smile that made Kibum’s heart skip a beat as he handed Kibum the soccer ball.

“Okay!”

And they did every day for that week they met by the big oak in the middle of the park to either play soccer or to talk about life but everyday that passed Kibum became sadder and sadder knowing that the end of the week was nearer and that his new friend would have to leave.
“I have something to tell you.” Jonghyun said suddenly

“Okay, what is it?” Kibum asked anxiously

“I can’t tell you now. Come tomorrow extra early. I’ll tell you then”

That night Kibum didn’t sleep a wink. He was too excited and eagerly wanted to know what it was that Jonghyun had to tell him. Finally Friday morning came but Jonghyun never showed. Kibum waited for hours. After the streetlights came on he decided to go home. On his way home thoughts wondered in his mind. `Why didn’t he come? What did he have to tell me? How can I feel like this for someone I just met?` But it was no use his friend was gone, Jonghyun was gone and there was nothing he could do.
