Donghae looked at the throngs of fans waiting for him at the airport. Sighing he muttered that they better not touch him. The jacket he was wearing was extremely expensive, and even the softest touch from an unclean finger would leave a permanent mark. That was why he insisted everyone on the team used hand sanitizer before coming near him.

Why did he buy it? Well, maybe it was because he didn’t like the touch of someone else against his own skin. Maybe it was because he liked the jacket so much. Or maybe it was simply because he now had a valid excuse for not wanting to come near the people who supported him so much.

Nevertheless, it was a stupid reason. No matter which one he chose.

As he walked off the airplane and into the terminal, he shuddered. Not even his manager could place a reassuring hand on his shoulder like he would do with the other members. He just wouldn’t be allowed.

Honestly, he wanted to change. If he could, he would. But he can’t, so he shan’t.

Thank God that the security guards were there. And that there were barriers to protect him from the crazed fans, otherwise he would have to speak to them. He would never do that. Even a smile would be beneath him.

He continued to walk, ignoring all the yells from the fans struggling desperately behind the security guards.

“HEY, LEE DONGHAE!” A screamed pierced the air, quieting all other cries, and causing Donghae to turn slightly and make eye contact with the small girl who dared use his name so disrespectfully.

What he saw stopped his heart.

A pretty, no gorgeous girl, was holding a sign saying, 사랑해, 이동해! And she was pretty. Did he say that yet? With her long wavy hair that went just up to her chest, eye smile and those lips. . . he would be a blind idiot not to fall for her right away. Which he wasn’t.

And since he wasn’t a blind idiot, he got to appreciate her looks. This was a mistake, because in doing so, he let a smile crack that ice cold façade. And the fangirls shrieked so loud, a frown crossed that girl’s face and she disappeared into the crowd.

That was also a mistake. This seems to be filled with mistakes, doesn’t it?

But let me explain why. When you attempt to disappear into a wild crowd, it’s not likely you are going to escape it unscathed. Donghae knew that better than anyone. I mean, isn’t that why he was so scared of human contact?

He had been performing at one of his group’s concerts, and influenced by all the screaming, he had jumped into the crowd, expecting to go crowd surfing. He didn’t. He needed 56 stitches, and had a broken rib when the members found him. He had almost been trampled to death. And he had changed.

But apparently not enough to restrain himself in these types of situations. Even as an ice-cold guy who never smiled, he was a gentleman. Or was it just the girl who broke down his barriers? Whatever the matter, he still tore from his group and ran straight into the surprised crowd and grabbed onto the girl’s arm, pulled her over to the bewildered manager, and boarded the black van specially reserved for Super Junior.

The manager, shocked out of his pants, regained his composure as fast as one can in those circumstances. He ushered everyone onto their vans, and after a little hesitation, pulled the girl onto Donghae’s van.

The girl sat awkwardly in between Henry and Donghae until Kyuhyun broke the silence.

“So. . . What’s your name?” he asked.

“Ah, that. It’s Sunny,” she quietly said, almost entirely different from the enthusiastic girl who was screaming Donghae’s name loud enough for him to notice her. The members nodded, and the pause that followed Sunny’s words gradually became pregnant. Then it was four weeks overdue. Just as Sunny was about to scream from the awkwardness, Donghae spoke up.

“We have to go to our dorms for now, but if you wanted to get dropped off somewhere, that’s okay. You can stay if you want,” he said, looking directly into her silver eyes. That left everyone, including Sunny, going straight into a frenzy. All Donghae could make out from the cheers, cries, refusals, and denials were some words.

“But I thought Donghae was mine...”

“A girl? In our dorm? Hyung, you rock!”

“If she refuses you, that would be a blow to his pride, wouldn’t it?”

“Donghae, do you even know what consequences could befall us because of this?”

“Hey, nice one, Hae!”

The only thing Donghae cared about, however, was Sunny. Whether or not she stayed would determine how he treated everyone else from now on until his final breath left his lips.

He would never stop breathing.

Maybe it was meant to be. That she stayed that day, and became one of the most important people in Donghae’s life from there on out. She broke down what is known as Lee Donghae with a simple scream, and charmed him with her eyes that glowed.

He needed her, and she needed him.
