Chapter 19

Yuri had just finished her work.

“That’s good enough, I’ll do the rest,” The housekeeper said.

“Thank you” Yuri wiped her sweat, “If anyone asks where I am, please tell them I’m out to meet my father at Banpo Hangang Park”

“Don’t worry, I will”

It was 5 pm and Yuri started to get changed. She took out a box and opened it to find a pair of earrings she had truly cherished. Yuri carefully attached them onto her ears and smiled at herself in the mirror.

She held a picture frame of herself and her father when they were younger.

As Yuri was about to walk out of the mansion doors, someone had called her.

“Yuri,” Tiffany said.

“Tiffany?” Yuri turned back.

“Where are you going?”

“To see my Appa at Banpo Hangang Park, what about you?”

“I have to take a business trip to Busan”

“Oh I see”

“I can drop you off if you would like”

“I don’t want to bother you though”

“You won’t, let’s go”

“You excited?” Tiffany asked.

“More nervous actually”

“How long since you’ve seen him?”

“Almost a year”

“Wow, this must be really special”

“Yeah, it is. How long are you going to be gone for?”

“I think just a day or two. We’re here”

“Thank you for the ride”

“Anytime, just tell me if you ever need anything”

Yuri gave a peck on the latter’s cheek and headed out.

She sat on a bench and called her father.

“Hello, sweetie?”

“Hey Appa, I just arrived at the park”

“I’ll be coming very soon. I have to finish up the last few bits of work”

“Don’t worry Appa, you can take your time”

“Thank you, sweetie, I’ll see you soon”

“You too” She ended the call and continued to wait.

People glanced at her as they walked by. Yuri played on her phone to pass time as she patiently waited. She eventually stopped when her phone battery was only 20%.

Yuri had waited at the same exact spot for hours but realized her father hasn’t come. She decided to call him again, but this time, he didn’t pick up.

Where is he..? -Yuri thought worriedly.

Yuri’s father was working as quickly as he could to meet his daughter.

“Woah there, Mr. Kwon. What are you in a rush for?” His coworker asked.

“I’m meeting my daughter today. I don’t want her to wait for me”

“Her name is Yuri, right?”

“Yes, my gorgeous daughter”

“Maybe you can, you know.. hook us up” He shyly said.

Yuri’s dad smacked the young lad on his head.

“Yah!” He yelled.

“I want my daughter to marry a wonderful handsome man, unlike you”

The lad glared at him, but Yuri’s father was too concentrated in his work to notice.

“Well, I’m actually not that bad looking” He complimented as he looked himself in the mirror.

“The mirror is lying to you” He chuckled.

“You know what Mr. Kwon?”

“What?”

“You're a really mean person”

“Thank you,” He said inattentively.

“But actually though, am I not that good looking?”

“Aish, can you shut your mouth for once. I really need to finish this”

“I-I’m sorry”

“Your yapping is making me more tired” He yawned with droopy eyes.

“Could you get me a cup of water?” He asked.

“Sure” The lad walked to the water dispenser.

Yuri’s dad began to feel lightheaded and was slowly losing his vision. He eventually collapsed on his desk.

The lad came back with the old man’s cup of water.

“Mr. Kwon, I got your water”

Yuri’s father didn’t respond and continued to stay still.

“Mr. Kwon?” He tapped on the fainted man’s shoulder and noticed he was unconscious.

“Mr. Kwon! Are you okay?” He flipped the man over and panicked.

“Someone come here right now, we have an emergency!” He shouted.
