Chapter 7

Don't Deserve You

Chaeyoung was currently out on a date with her girlfriend, Lalisa Manoban.

The 2 are out shopping for a present for Lisa's friend. Even though she didn't who Lisa's friend was, Chaeyoung didn't even bother to ask. She had faith in her girlfriend, and knew that the younger was sincere towards her and that Lisa would never be unfaithful towards her.

Chaeyoung had never felt so happy in her life.

Being with Lisa has been the best thing that ever happened to her. With just the thought of Lisa would always bring a smile to her lips.

For Lisa, it was no different. To her, Chaeyoung was the only person she's ever felt this kind of love and affection towards. Lisa has always been the type of girl to jump from one relationship to the next, she's never been type to actually stay with someone for that long in a relationship

Although people think of her as a play girl, they don't know the real reason as to why Lisa never stayed in a relationship.

The truth was that Lisa is just out there looking for the one for her, the person that she was meant to be with. As cheesy as it sounds, Lisa has always been searching for her soulmate,  but she's never found that person through anyone she's ever dated.

But that moment when she met Chaeyoung and got to know who she really was, Lisa knew that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with the latter.

Lisa turned to look at her girlfriend and gave her a dazzling smile in which she returned.

The 2 girls stared at each other lovingly as they strolled through the mall hand in hand, with not a single care for the world..

Chaeyoung's phone suddenly rang, startling the young couple. After a few rings, the red head picked up the call.

Chaeyoung: Hello?

Mr. Park: Miss Chaeyoung!

Chaeyoung: Oh, Mr. Park! Is anything the matter?

Mr. Park: It's Miss Jisoo, I can't find her anywhere. Miss Jennie doesn't seem to be here either.

Chaeyoung: ..

Lisa turned to Chaeyoung, a shocked expression displayed on her face. Lisa knew that her girlfriend would never cuss out openly being the committed Christian that she was, unless if something was really bothering her. She shot the latter a questioning glance as Chaeyoung ran a hand through her hair.

Chaeyoung: Ahjussi, are you sure they're both not around somewhere? Like the Café or even one of the hotels nearby?

Mr. Park: No. I've walked a whole lap around this place. And Miss Jisoo didn't take the umbrella either. I'm worried for her health because it's pouring outside.

Chaeyoung walked towards a nearby glass door and looked through, sure enough the elder was unmistaken.

Chaeyoung: , , ...

Lisa approached her.

Lisa: Chaeng, what's wrong?

Chaeyoung shook her head and immediately returned to her conversation with Mr. Park.

Chaeyoung: Did you ask the workers around there to see if they had seen either one of them?

Mr. Park: I wasn't able to since they had all rushed home as soon as there were signs of the rain.

Chaeyoung: ing hell...

Lisa continued to stare at Chaeyoung worriedly, wondering what had caused her girlfriend to be so worked up. Chaeyoung took a deep breath to calm herself before replying to Mr. Park.

Chaeyoung: Mr. Park I'll be there as soon as I can. You're at the construction site right?

Mr. Park: Yes.

Chaeyoung: Ok, I'm going to hang up now. Please look for her while I'm on my way.

Mr. Park: I will.

Chaeyoung hung up the phone to be met with Lisa's worried glance.

Chaeyoung: Lisa, I promise I'll explain to you on the way. But I really need you to drive me somewhere right now!

Lisa nodded without a single moment of hesitation.

Lisa: Hold on a sec though.

Lisa rushed off to a nearby store, and left behind a confused Chaeyoung.

The younger quickly bought an umbrella and returned to her girlfriend.

Before she could even get the umbrella to open up Chaeyoung had already made her way out of the mall. Lisa chased after her and placed the umbrella over both their heads before the rain could make any contact with their clothes or body.

Once they got inside the car, Lisa shot a glance towards Chaeyoung's direction. The latter was now biting her nails. Lisa took a hold of her hand, trying to ease the older girl's nerves.

Lisa: Calm down Chaeng. Just tell me where are we going?

Chaeyoung: You have to hurry Lisa, it's YG Center by Blink Beach. Jisoo...she's-she...

The older girl broke down before she could even finish her sentence. Without wasting a second, Lisa pulled out of their parking spot and sped off.

Lisa: Chaeng you have to tell me what's wrong.

Chaeyoung turned to face Lisa.

Chaeyoung: It's...it's Jisoo unnie. Mr. Park c-can't find her a-anywhere.

Lisa was now confused. 'Why is Chaeyoung so worried then?'

Lisa: I don't get it Chaeyoung-ah.

Chaeyoung: Unnie has a heart disease and right now she's no where to be found with no umbrella.

Lisa: Wait, wait. Jisoo unnie has a heart disease?!

Chaeyoung nodded.

Lisa: Is it serious?

Chaeyoung: It's hard to tell, but I think it's getting worse. I'm trying to find her a heart, but you know how hard it is to find donors these days.

Tears started to brim Chaeyoung's eyes once more, and it completely broke Lisa's heart to see her girlfriend like this.

Lisa: Hey, hey look at me. As far as we know, Unnie is just missing right now alright. Maybe she knew that it was gonna start raining and ran to find shelter somewhere else. We shouldn't start jumping to conclusions. Okay?

Chaeyoung: But Unnie should've at least called Mr. Park.

Lisa: Maybe she forgot, or her phone got damaged by the rain. There's also the possibility that it ran out of batteries.

Chaeyoung shook her head.

Chaeyoung: I still feel like something's not right. Like something happened to her.

Lisa: Look, we'll figure it out ok? Right now the best thing we could do is stay calm and look for her with a clear mindset.

Chaeyoung: You're right,  calm down. Unnie should be fine. She will be, right?

Lisa gave her a half-hearted smile.

Lisa: She'll be okay.

•••

Jennie was sitting at the restaurant waiting for her friend. After her argument with Jisoo, she couldn't help but feel bad towards the latter.

She hated herself for feeling guilty. She had every right to be angry and unforgiving towards Jisoo.

Those past few years in New Zealand have been hell for her. She had loved Jisoo with all her being, and she had thought that the older girl had felt the same way. But little did Jennie know that she was fooled the whole damn time.

Jennie felt a sudden wetness drip down her face.

She slowly raised up her hand and felt her cheek, only to realize that she had been crying.

'Aish, why am I crying for her. I no longer love Jisoo. She's not worth my tears. Not anymore.'

Jennie wiped away her tears and looked out the window of her seat.

While looking at the pouring rain outside she couldn't help but feel uneasy. Something was bothering her, but she didn't know what it was.

The longer Jennie waited, the more uneasy she felt. The rain didn't seem to be subsiding anytime soon, and the CEO felt as if something was very wrong.

'But what was it?'

Jennie was then startled by the sudden ringing of her phone, and accidentally knocked over her glass of wine.

Jennie: Oh my god.

As she bent down to pick up the broken pieces, one of the shards nicked her finger.

Jennie: Ow!

A waiter approached her with a worried expression.

Waiter: Oh no, Miss! Are you alright?

Jennie: Oh I'm fine, thank you. I'm so sorry for breaking your glass.

Waiter: There's nothing to be sorry for Miss. But shouldn't you get your finger checked out? It's bleeding.

Jennie quickly grabbed a towel from the table and held it against her cut.

Jennie: I'll be fine. Thank you for your concern.

The waiter nodded.

Waiter: If you'll excuse me, I will go get this cleaned up for you. Would you like another glass of wine?

Jennie: Thank you. And water would be fine if you don't mind.

Waiter: I will be right back.

Jennie sat back in her seat and released the pressure pit on her cut which had now stopped bleeding.

Remembering that someone had called her phone, she reached for it on the table and saw that it was her friend. She redialed the number and waited for her friend to answer.

After a few rings, the other line picked up.

Jennie: Yah Lalisa, are you just gonna keep me waiting here until I'm old and grey?

Lisa: Ah Unnie I'm so sorry! I was actually calling to ask you if we could put a raincheck on our plans tonight.

Jennie: Yah are you serious right now? I've been waiting here for over 30 minutes now.

Lisa: I'm sorry Unnie, I really am. It's just something came up with my girlfriend's friend. And she's freaking out right now. I really don't want to leave her Jen, I can't... she needs me.

Jennie sighed.

Jennie: Fine. But but you're paying next time.

Lisa: Thank you Unnie. I promise, I'll pay for your next 5 meals.

Jennie: You better not go back on your words dongsaeng.

Lisa laughed.

Lisa: Of course not. Oh, we're here. Yah Chae, the umbrella! Aish Unnie I really have to go now, I'll call you later ok?

Jennie: Ok I'll see you.

Lisa: Bye.

The younger girl hung up just as Jennie's waiter came back with her water.

She gave him an apologizing smile.

Jennie: I'm so sorry for bothering you, but my plans got canceled. Is it ok if I ask for my paycheck now?

Waiter: Oh of course. Just let me clean up this glassware first.

Jennie: Thank you.

Jennie let out a sigh. She looked outside at the rain once more and then back down at her cut.

'What is going on today?'

Chapter 62: just realized...Memories by Maroon5 i a somewhat classical but fitting song for the last chapter. i just realized i had only commented on the middle section of this story. I have to say that overall, even though this is not a new concept, it was still entertaining to read and surely brought me lots of pleasure. the ending was pretty bittersweet and the overall story was nicely written. thank you again for bringing us this story.

Chapter 62: IMHO, this was probably one of the stories that didn't have much of a thick plot, but it was still a good "skim&scan" story to me. Thx author!
