Case 3; File 17: Gray
The Mind of the Quiet.Jackson waited by a tree, a cherry blossom tree that is. It wasn't long before his friend Yuygeom made it to the meeting sight, they greeted each other with a warm handshake. Jackson gestured him to sit down on the bench next to the tree. Their stared out into the motionless city, tonight was a chilly night, and no one seemed adventurous enough to venture for parties or drugs. They were left to talk, their own voices filling up the empty city.
"Yuygeom, I need your help." His friend already smirked, like he knew exactly what he was talking about, "The cases? You're following them as well aren't you?" Jackson smiled faintly. "You're too sharp to be a gangster hiding criminals y'know that." Yuygeom chuckled looking at his older friend, "It's not pretty what you're trying to get into, the police aren't even getting close to solving anything, it's more likely they'll get killed." Jackson leaned back into the bench, staring up at the dead branches of the tree, snow flakes were beginning to fall.
"How do you know, Yuygeom?"
"The murders are vicious, it's the same as six years ago, with the guy's sister's death. The evidence is there, but someone is pulling this from behind the scenes. There's more to the people they kill, it's as if they're targeting them, forcing certain people to get into the doghouse, maybe in the end everyone will be slaughtered."
"Who do you think is behind it all, it seems you know more than what meets the eye." His friend chuckled again as he got up. "That's all I can tell you, and this is probably the furthest I'll get in. Hyung, no, Jackson, I highly suggest you stay out of this if it has nothing to do with you, it's for your own safety."
Jinyoung paced around the police station. He remembered everything. He could clearly see Mark, he heard the screams, but why can't he think of any place that he'd be. How could he focus on a case like this when—what does it matter if he doesn't really know him that well. Why does he care? He shouldn't right? Ji-Sung walked in with a cup of coffee, he sighed at Jinyoung and looked towards BamBam, "JB still at the hospital with Jinsoo?" He nodded while examining the pictures. "Of course he is."
Ji-Sung sat down at his desk. “Did you complete the errand?” BamBam took out the drug bag. “Mark was most certainly right, it’s a copy-cat murder, and apparently there’s a group called S.M.J that distributed all types of drugs like meth, having its highest revenue made during the same time as the human trafficking cases, but something’s off...it doesn’t seem like they were using the kids for the purposes we thought they were using them for.” Ji-Sung was confused, “What do you mean?” BamBam pushed up his glasses, “They were using the children as test subjects, the dead bodies were the results of the test, and they were quite smart about it. The kids were either homeless or orphaned at a young age, which meant nobody was looking for them, and no one would care, not even the country.” Ji-Sung crushed his white paper cup and Jinyoung stopped moving.
The world was an ugly place, uglier than people had previously thought. The reasons are always simple. Answers like, “Money, power, greed, because I could do it...” Why does someone else have to suffer for someone else’s benefit. Jinyoung wondered that all the time, especially when his sister wa
