The Last Time We Met

The lights around the restaurant dimmed leaving only a spotlight illuminating on stage. Sulli sat still as she starred at Minho. One smile was all it took for her to melt under his gaze, and then he spoke.

"Jinri, this is for you." Minho signalled to cue the music as he began to sing.

---
To say that I like you
I couldn’t bear it.
Just being by your side like this was good enough
Yes, should I muster up some courage one more time?
Should I tell you how I feel?
You don’t even know my heart
and you just smile brightly

I’m telling you that I want you
I’m telling you that I’m calling you
Hold my hand, hold my hand
I’m afraid that I’ll lose you

I’m telling you that I want you
I’m telling you that I love you
Are you listening to my heart for you?
It hurts just to look at you
Like this

Shyly, I hide my fluttering heart
And I met you again today
I worry that my heart will be noticed
So I turn around

I’m telling you that I want you
I’m telling you that I’m calling you
Hold my hand, hold my hand
I’m afraid that I’ll lose you

I’m telling you that I want you
I’m telling you that I love you
Are you listening to my heart for you?
It hurts just to look at you

I stay with you
I stay with you
Nothing can replace you
Cuz I love you – wait for me
I will tell you my heart

I’m telling you that I’m looking for you
I’m telling you that I want to have you
Hold my hand, hold my hand
I’m afraid that I’ll lose you

I’m telling you that I want you
I’m telling you that I love you
Are you listening to my heart for you?
It hurts just to look at you
Like this

"Jinri," Minho spoke into the microphone. His voice shook as he continued his sentence. He wanted to sound manly and confident, but it wasn't working. He could feel his own breath quake as he forced himself to speak the words he wanted to. It was funny for him, all these years he was able to make sole decisions for his company without feeling nervous at all, but this one instant was enough to shake his insides inside and out. His heart never beat as fast as it was beating and never louder. Slowly, he placed his hand over his heart to calm it down as he emphasized each word one by one. With a hesitant smile, Minho asked, "Jinri, will you be my girlfriend?"

One second, two seconds, three seconds...then, she broke down. Small tiny crystal beads creeped out of her eyes, one after another, soon it turned into a flowing stream that ran down her face. That was her song, the song that she wrote from the heart. She had let out all of her emotions that day, pouring them onto the paper and here it was, sung by the person she wrote it for.

Walking down the stage, Minho suddenly felt his heart drop. He knew it, she must have hated his performance. Shame fell upon him as he realized that all he had done was a waste, Sulli just wanted to be friends. It pained him horribly that she was crying, and even more that he was rejected. He never felt the way he did with Sulli. It was more than just an attraction, it was like a pull or a tug that he felt towards Sulli. He wanted to give his everything to her just so she could never suffer, but he knew that what he felt was not mutual. "I-I-I," Minho couldn't form words as he approached Sulli. "M-m-mianhe, I didn't mean to take your song––I mean if you––"

He stopped speaking. The whole world seemed to stand still as she felt Sulli's arms wrap around him. That familiar scent that he became so used to enveloped him, as if it protected him from the dangers of the world. Her hand fit the curve of his neck perfectly as she comfortably leaned her head upon his shoulder, allowing her tears to streak down from her cheeks onto his shirt.

"Yes."

Minho didn't know what to do. He felt as if he had won the lottery. No, at that moment, he felt as if he was the luckiest man alive, and he finally realized that although his parents perished, he had more to live for. He had Sulli by his side to help him. Even though his parents may not be there for him, they were above him watching him. From the bottom of his heart, he knew that his parents would want him to be happy. They wouldn't want him grieving over their losses constantly, and most importanty they would be proud that he finally found the happiness that he always ventured for.

"Yes, Minho. I will be your girlfriend." Sulli ended the embrace as she removed any excess tears on her face.

Minho couldn't hide his smile as he looked at Sulli. "Why are you crying?"

"Because, I'm that happy. No one has ever planned anything so deliberate for me." Sulli paused as she gazed into Minho's eyes. "And, my song." A smile spread across her face as she shyly blushed. "You sang it."

"I'm sorry that I took your song. I found it while I was cleaning your room and I just couldn't help but read what it said and I––"

"Gwenchana. It was beautiful."

Minho smiled as his eyes darted down towards Sulli's lips. He couldn't resist any longer as he dove in, sealing the distance between him and Sulli.

Without hesitation, Sulli responded, surprised that his mouth was so warm, and the caress of his lips softer than she could have imagined. This was their second kiss, and she vividly recalled the first.

Slowly, they pulled away as they starred deeply into each other's eyes. Although the kiss was pure and short, both knew how much they felt for one another and that was all that was needed.

"Come on," Minho directed with his hand, allowing Sulli to follow from behind. "There's more to come."

Sulli giggled as she watched Minho. She had to admit it, he was so perfect and yet adorable, melting her heart every gaze that fell upon her. She wanted this moment to last for eternity––just her and Minho, alone from everything, forgetting all the world's problems, but of course she knew life was known for its obstacles.

Sulli and Minho walked towards a booth that was lit with heart shaped candles. Sleek ivory bowls with Shrimp Bisque were set on the table as utensils were neatly placed aside.

"How is it Sulli?" Minho tenderly asked referring to the set up.

"Minho, this is––" Sulli couldn't find the words. "Choi Minho, all I can think of is how much I love you." And, she didn't regret saying it. It all seemed so fast, yet so slow. It was almost like it was yesterday when she first met Minho, the lean gawky boy walking towards her with a set of black rimmed glasses upon his nose. Now, the boy that stood before her was a grown man, and she couldn't help but confess how attractive and handsome Minho was, from his naturally tanned skin to his well angled nose, plump lips, and sharp jawline. He was perfect.

"Jinri, I love you too." Minho smiled from ear to ear as he sat down opposite of Sulli.

"Minho, when did you plan this?" Looking around, Sulli noticed that balloons were located at every corner of the restaurant, and most importantly no one else was in it. "Did you reserve this place for just us?"

Minho shyly nodded as he felt a wave of heat rise towards his cheeks.

"But how did you have the time?" Sulli eagerly asked. She was worried that he had overworked himself and added to the burden by planning the romantic first date.

"Of course I had time. When it comes to Jinri, I will always have time."

Sulli let out a laugh as she held her spoon. "Oppa, that was cheesy."

"I know," Minho chuckled nervously, "But, I really mean it. I'll always have time for you."

"Oppa, thank you so much for everything." Grinning, Sulli added, "Remember when we first met?"

"De, of course I do."

"What was your first impression of me?" Sulli curiously waited for a response as she watched Minho think.

"Well," Minho jokingly folded his hands together as if he were at a professional business conference as he looked into Sulli's eyes, "The first thing I thought was 'she's beautiful', and when I met you, you were beautiful inside and out." Minho really felt different. This was the first time talking about the past didn't hurt him or bring traumatic attacks. He felt free and unchained from everything and it felt so good to be liberated from the burden he used to always carry.

"Yah, did you think that I was mean?" Sulli joked in offense.

"A-a-ani."

"Oh come on, so you thought I was." Sulli laughed as she looked at Minho's face. He looked as if he had just been cuaght red-handed stealing money. "Oppa, I'm joking, no need to be so serious."

Minho hestitantly grinned in return. "What'd you think of me?"

Bringing her finger to her chin, she tapped it lightly on her chin as she scrunched up her nose to think. "Your voice."

"My voice?" Minho commented in surprise.
