Chapter 3
Expect the UnexpectedCho Hee P. O. V
I felt my phone vibrate against my thigh about 2 hours later and my good mood diminished almost immediately. I dug through my skinny jeans and pulled out my phone.
"Yes?" I asked, pressing the 'call' button. My hands and voice shook as I took in a deep breath to calm myself.
"Erm..."
Silence. Then, I heard the slight ruffling of papers and a small 'thud'.
"Hello?" I tried again. I checked the I.D but it wasn't anyone I knew.
Did I give my phone number to a complete stranger? How did that happen? I thought and I started to break down into hysterics.
"If this is a prank call, I'll hang up on you," I said warily. "Or do you have the wrong number?" I asked. I put my free hand on my hip. He ignored that sentence.
"Is this Cho Hee?" He asked. I replied almost instantly. "Yes, do I know you?" I asked.
"Well, we came to inform you the results of todays auditions," he went on happily. I pouted.
Get on with the results, stranger! I waited patiently impatiently.
"Congratulations. You are the new member. See you tomorrow at 7:00 am to take a tour of the building SM Entertainment!" He said and hung up. I was too happy and shocked to even make up a comeback and be all upset about it. My jaw hung slack and I squealed in surprise, dropping my phone in the process. I didn't pick it up. I picked up my phone and skipped home, forgetting all about my abusive dad.
When I got home, I began to hope that he was at his job, or he went to drink. Either way, I didn't want him home. I took off my shoes and walked inside the house, going straight away to the living room, the happy and giddy feeling still stirring in my stomach. I picked up the family picture. I gazed at the picture with so much longing. Umma and appa were still happy. Happy and young. I caressed umma's face in the picture, whispering "I told you I wouldn't let you down, umma." I skipped to the kitchen and decided to make my favorite food; Kimchi! (A/N Racist much? lol) I hummed Ring Ding Dong while I cooked, my baby blue apron swinging from left to right. I ate dinner and left a note on my dad's bowl. I don't like pretending that I love him. I hate him with passion. My love for him is long gone.
"Goodnight, teddy bear!" I hugged my teddy bear while getting dressed in my silky pajama's. I set up my alarm clockI to 6:00 am and looked up at the ceiling, then buried my head in the teddy bears' soft plush fur. The scent of my umma still drifted in it, as I refused to have it washed. My umma bought me this, on my birthday not long ago. I sighed, letting my mind drift to todays' audition. Of course, I was the new addition to SHINee. I still couldn't get over it.
I rolled around in the bed sheets, unable to sleep due to the excitment. I screamed and jumped up, dancing to a random song that burst through the radio. "YESSSS! I MADE IT TO SHINee!" I screamed out loud. I didn't care if neighbor's complained. I am WAY more awesome the them. Let them complain to my dad. I don't care. Tomorrow, I'll celebrate my victory. I had thousands of wons from my parents and I didn't use them. I still get money, as I dance for everyone, not in the streets, thank God for that. Kekekekekekekeke I felt so GIDDY I couldn't sleep.
I felt heavy pounding at the door and I turned off the radio, lights and I leapt for the bed and tucked myself in, imagining my umma kissing me on the forehead when I go to sleep every night. I clutched the teddy bear tighter as my appa's footsteps got closer and I heard a grunt. I rolled my eyes and a tear rolled unknowingly down my cheek. I miss you, umma. I silently sobbed, hoping that my appa would ignore me for tonight. With that, I drifted off into an uneasy sleep.
RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
I shot up from the bed and slammed my palm on the off button. I scratched my head. It's Saturday. Why do I have my alarm clock on at 6:00 am? Then, I remebered. SHINee... audition... me SHINee's new MEMBER! I let out a shriek and I shot out of bed and made my bed. I ran to the closet and smiled. Thank GOD that appa is gone. He would've beaten me senseless. Whew.
This is what I wore. Hmm... cute enough. No makeup. I don't need makeup right now, I guess. I giggled at myself as I checked myself out in the mirror. "Would SHINee Oppa's be surprised I'm a girl?" I wondered to myself. I brought the comb through my hair one last time before I set it down and put I left the building, going to SM Entertainment.
"Oppa!" I called to the man on the front door. He snapped his attention to me.
"Are you Cho Hee?" He asked. I nodded and bowed 90 degrees.
"I've heard so much about you," he mused. "From the unni's. The judge noona's." He explained. I blushed.
People were TALKING about me when I wasn't even apart of SHINee? I asked.
We met the other k- pop idols then I went to my group... SHINee. I took in a deep breath. Oppa seemed to notice.
"Take deep breaths and relax." He instructed calmly. I nodded and did as he told. Then, he told me to wait here and he pushed open the door.
"Annyeong, SHINee," he said, bowing. "Your new member is here."
"So fast? The auditions were only yesterday!" A voice exclaimed. "He must be really good."
I cringed at the 'he' part.
I am a girl. Tell them oppa! I begged in my mind. Oppa shook his head.
"Come on in!" He exclaimed cheerily. I couldn't help but blush as he shoved me through the door.
"A GIRL?!" They choursed together, suspicioun blanketed their voices and I winced.
"Yes, a girl," oppa mumbled. "She is a really good dancer and singer. She passed the other people by the thousands." My head perked at this.
Thousands? I smirked. I really AM the good!
"Give her a chance. Let her dance for you!" Oppa exclaimed, evidently annoyed. "Please?" He added hesitantly as if he never said 'please' once in his whole entire life time. The tallest guy (Minho) looked at the guy with hair up to his shoulders (Onew). They nodded and looked back, nodding. I grinned and stood in the middle, oppa watching, eyes wide.
Lucifer I pleaded in my mind. Lucifer was the freshest one in my mind. Lucifer came on and I danced and sung.
I ended, perfectly still 'till the last note died away and I looked expectantly towards SHINee. The shortest guy, the one that looked like a dino, had his mouth opened.
"She's even better than ME and TAEMINNIE!" He whined loudly, eyeing me jelously. He looked at his hyungs. "Isn't she GOOD? How can we turn her down?" He asked. His eyes twinkled mischeviously. "Not to mention she's HOT!" Dino grinned like the dinosaur he is and did a small version of an aegyo. I almost fell on the floor.
The tallest one chuckled and hit dino lightly. "Don't do that. You make your face uglier than it already is," he chuckled. "And she is good." He added, eyeing me up and down.
I blushed at his comment. "Gamsahabnida!" I exclaimed, bowing. "I forgot to introduce myself. I am Cho Hee!" I said, grinning. I used my aegyo and I felt a pinch on my cheeks.
"Aigoo! She's cuter than my little Taeminnie!" He cooed, pinching my cheeks.
"Aish! Oppa!" I whined. He froze.
"O-oppa?" He asked. I froze in my tracks.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done t-" He cut me off.
"It's OK. I'm just surprised!" He explained. I sighed and felt a feeling wash over me.
"Hyung!" He added, kicking the one with shoulder- lengthed hair. "You forgot to introduce us to this beautiful lady. She already introduced herself!" He scowled. The guy blushed.
"I am the leader, Lee Jinki but please call me Onew!" He said. He stumbled foward.
Clumsy one we got here, eh? I couldn't help but grin mischeviously. I saw him shiver.
"I don't like that smile," he complained, turning away. "It creeps me out!"
I washed the grin off my face. "Annyeong, Onew- ssi. Forgive me!" I used my aegyo on him and he shut his eyes closed.
"," he muttered. "Don't fall for it, don't fall for it, don't fall for it!" He took a peek and let out an aggravated sigh. "You're forgiven." I squealed, hugging him.
"Thank you!" I bounced around him. Then bounced toward the other memebers, hyper as ever. "Annyeong, what is your name? You look younger than me. Am I your noona? Anneyong! You haven't said a word since I performed! Anneyong! You have an umma side to you!" I blurted out. They all chuckled.
"I am the almighty Kim Kibum. Please call me ALIMIGHTY KEY!" Key oppa announced, striking a diva- like pose. I giggled.
"Yes UMMA!" I laughed. "Who are you?" I turned my curious gaze to the smallest one.
"I am Lee Taemin!" He giggled. "I am older than you! We can play together sometime!"
"Ew! That turned out wrong!" Me and dino guy blurted out at the same time.
"I am the dancing machine! The maknae of the group!" He showed off his aegyo. I wanted so badly to pinch his cheeks.
"Anneyong, dino!" I greeted dino like guy. He pouted.
"Not you too!" He complained. I tilted my head.
"Wae?" I asked curiously. He shook his head.
"I am BLING BLING KIM JONGHYUN!" He winked at me and I rolled my eyes.
ert I thought to myself and composed myself.
"Annyeong!" I said, waving to the tallest one. I could've sworn he blushed.
"I am Flaming Charisma Choi Minho," he said softly. "I am the rapper of the group."
"The shy one, eh?" I asked and hugged him, "With me here, you'll be running around the house screaming." I promised. He smiled and I winked. I stepped back and let them say their catch phrase.
"And we are the shining SHINee!" They chorused. Taemin took me by the hand and dragged me out the door. The first oppa I met was long gone. I liked him. He was nice. Oh well.
"Where are we going?" I asked. I didn't try struggling at all. Being in Taemin's grasp felt nice. Too nice.
"To our dorm!" He beamed at me and I blushed and nodded.
