Characterization;   15/15

Starting off, Hyukjae is very curious and Donghae is very cynical but has wanderlust. I love it.
Focusing on Donghae - who is centric to this whole thing - I love when you describe him from Hyukjae's POV. He seems like this anime character come to life, but the world considers him a freak, but to him... he's beautiful regardless. Also, I did like the addition of his father being a factor. He reflects the time period well.
For Hyukjae, seeing him change in his diction throughout those letters was interesting in his progression. He's yearning to have a part of Donghae with him, so books become his hobby. It's so cute and sentimental. The way you write both of them, but specifically Hyukjae and his emotions - I always feel pity for him. He's so self-aware. And smol.
Also, as this reflects the whole "gay phobia" thing - the time calls for it - I do like the way you portrayed that. When Hyukjae asked what he was to Donghae's friends and he told him a childhood friend, the whole "not a lie" thing pulled at my heartstrings. Because even that tiny comment shows their char
