Who are you?

melancholy and bliss

The quiet streets of Seoul got disturbed when a Porsche with a Police's siren passed by. Many of the passerby looked worriedly at the motorcycles being chased by two porsche; one black and the other white.

“I am so going to kill that Tiger.” Irene gritted her teeth as she stepped on the gas, her eyes locked on the black motorcycle that she's currently chasing down the streets of Seoul. She scanned the rider's appearance, he wore a black leather jacket with a the word Tiger printed on its back like a jersey name, the helmet he's wearing is designed by a tiger's print and pattern. She sighed, she has been chasing this criminal for a year and still, they never had the chance to arrest him and his companions.

“Have you seen Dracula?” a voice coming from her small radio asked. She glared at the small device, annoyed at the question the person from the other car is asking.

“Don't tell me you lost that ?” Irene seethes. She heard static noises before the other line spoke. “I'm sorry.”

She hit the steering wheel, groaning in irritation at how stupid her partner is for losing the other motorcycle. She eyed the rider she's been tailing around.

“You won't escape me this time, Tiger.”

---

“He escaped.” Irene threw the envelope containing the details about the chase against the table for the chief to see. She glared at Jisoo, her partner for the case. The other girl whimpered as she took a step back, terrified at how her senior is glaring at her.

“Wow. These agents are good.” the chief commented while scanning the reports that his own agents had given.

“Illegal angency's have great agents these days.” Irene glared at the guy who had entered the room, rolling her eyes in the process. “You're right, Jimin.” the chief agreed.

“They aren't as good as us.” Irene said. Jimin scoffed at this after he had placed the reports on the chief's table. “If you're better than you should've caught them by now.”

“Give us some time and we will.” Irene said, her eyes permanently glaring at the petite man who had passed her, he scoffed once again, mocking Irene before he walked out.

“Calm down, Bae. He's just playing around.” The Chief tried to calm the fuming girl who has her hands curled into fists, her eyes glaring at anything and her jaws clenched.

“Playing around my .” She mumbled under her breath, still saving the last bit of her dignity as a high ranking officer inside the agency.

“I'll come back if there are any news about the stupid agency, Chief. Don't blame me if I end up killing that Tiger.” Irene salutes before walking out.

---

Irene almost points her gun on the slouched form laying on the ground, freaked out at the person sleeping soundly outside her apartment. She examined the girl, sleeping in a slouched form while hugging a guitar in it's case, her clothes tattered and obviously over-used. Irene frowned at the sight.

She won't bring her harm, right?

“Hey, Miss?” she shook the girl's shoulder to wake her up, silently praying for the girl to move, who knows what she would do if she finds out that this girl's already dead. “I hope you're not a corpse.”

She shook the girl again, amused at the light snores coming out from the girl. “She's alive and snoring.” Irene chuckled.

“Miss? Wake up.” Irene tried once again, exerting more effort this time. The girl finally moves, shifting into another position before stretching like a cat. Irene gulped when the girl's shirt slides up, exposing the firm and toned, tanned stomach.

Damn, this girl's hot

“H-Hey.” Irene scolded herself mentally for stuttering, she faked a cough before eyeing the woman once again. This time the girl's already seated criss-crossed, one arm wrapped around the guitar while the other hand is cutely rubbing her still sleepy eyes with a cute pout on her face.

How can this girl be hot at one moment then be cute the next.

“Am I in heaven already?” Irene's smile dropped at the girl's statement. Confusion painting her eyes when the girl kept on staring at her face shamelessly with a face full of wonder. “I think I'm in heaven.”

“Miss, you're in front of my apartment.” Irene stepped back when the girl quickly stood up, eyes darting everywhere in panic, when their eyes met again, the girl stopped and started staring once again. “I'm sorry. I didn't bother you, did I?”

She's indeed a bother to Irene. Sleeping outside of her apartment with her neighbors looking at her with questioning eyes is a bother to Irene. They might think a cop like Irene kicked someone out of her apartment and mercilessly let her sleep outside. People around her neighborhood have different ideas running inside their small, little head after all.

“No. Not at all.” but Irene denied. Smiled a comforting smile to assure the girl that she isn't a bother. “I'm just worried that you're feeling cold. You slept here all night long, after all.”

“I-I'm fine.” and Irene smiled once more when the girl dipped her head down shyly, her hand automatically reaching for the back of her head to scratch it.

“Why are you sleeping here, anyway?” Irene asked, half-curious and half-concerned for the girl's well-being. The girl avoided her gaze, seemingly shy.

“I-I don't have any place to go. I wander around and busk on the streets for money to buy food. So...here I am.” The girl admitted, shrugging slightly before dipping her head lower, embarrassed at how she's currently living her life.

“What's your name?” Irene found herself asking, “Seulgi. Kang Seulgi.”

Seulgi. That's a nice name. Irene smiled at the thought, She's quite pretty for a girl wandering the streets of Seoul, she wonders how Seulgi managed to be this attractive despite sleeping on the cold hard ground where she could catch a disease and fall sick.

“I'm Irene.” Irene went dazed for a second when the girl smiled widely upon hearing Irene introduce herself. She looked away, afraid at how quickly she felt attached to a mere stranger. “Wait here.”

She left Seulgi who had a confused look on her face when Irene dashed back to her apartment, almost tripping on invisible stones for running like a child being chased by a monster. Seulgi stayed still, curious as to what the girl is up to.

Not a minute later, Irene came back, panting slightly, hand holding a basket full of bread and a jar of strawberry jam, she handed it to Seulgi with a timid look, her face a light shade of red.

“What are these?” Seulgi asked, she knew it's food but why is Irene giving her these? She reached her hand out unsurely to hold the basket and tried to search for Irene's eyes but the girl merely looked down, avoiding her questioning gaze. “Food.”

“But why...” Seulgi's question faded when Irene finally spared her a glance and she gulped, amazed at how Irene looked ethereal with that natural light shining above her. “Just take it. You might need it later.”

Seulgi could only thank the girl, smiling brightly before walking away, leaving Irene with her chest beating erratically, her hands shaking slightly out of giddiness and her mind wishing to see Seulgi once again.

How can a mere stranger affect her like this?

---

Irene found Seulgi at the park near her apartment, a few people crowding around her and soft strumming of a guitar accompanied by an alluring voice captured Irene's attention.

Irene approached the small crowd, sneaking her way in between taller guys into the center, there she found Seulgi with eyes closed, a guitar hugged by her toned arms, a smile on her lips while singing a familiar song. Irene noticed the opened guitar case with pennies and a few paper bills inside beside Seulgi, Irene dropped a few coins inside before bringing back her attention towards the singing girl.

So this is how Seulgi sounds like when she's singing. It's the same yet different from her normal talking voice, it's still the same soft voice that Irene heard a few hours earlier yet it's different, it has this alluring tone that brought chills down Irene's spine. She liked this combination, same yet different. Similar yet diverse. Familiar yet new.

“For I can't help falling in love with you.”

---

“Hey. You're here again.” Seulgi's eyes brightened the moment she spotted Irene in the midst of the crowd. Irene gave a small wave, appearing shy when some of the people watching looked at her with curiosity in their eyes.

It has been three days since Irene saw Seulgi sleeping in front of her apartment and since then she found the girl in the same park, singing different songs that brought the same giddy feeling inside of her. Irene would always make sure she'll drop by and watch Seulgi sing, bringing with her extra coins to place inside Seulgi's opened guitar case.

Seulgi said her final words before bowing, the crowd clapping their hands before walking away with wide smiles on their faces. Irene couldn't help but to feel like smiling too, seeing Seulgi blush at the compliments that were thrown her way made her want to hug the taller girl. Seulgi's too cute when she's shy.

“Want to eat with me?” Irene suggested, tiptoeing slightly as she met the girl's eyes. This is the first time she actually offered to eat out with Seulgi, not that they don't want to, no one just brought it up. Seulgi smiled shyly before shaking her head, her smile dropping when Irene's smile turned into a frown.

“I-It's not that I don't want to, it's ju—” she eyed the opened guitar case with coins that could be enough to buy a cheap meal for her own, she couldn't afford buying expensive meals. Irene noticed how Seulgi's brow creased, she wanted to ease it away so she tapped the girl's shoulder to make her look back at her and smiled.

“It's my treat, don't worry.” Seulgi's ready to reject the offer politely, she wanted to say no but Irene had beat her to it, approaching the opened guitar case to close it and lifting it up, urging Seulgi to follow her towards her apartment.

As soon as they left the guitar and its case inside Irene's apartment safely, they headed towards the nearest cafe. The walk towards the cafe was full with Seulgi's determined words to reject Irene's offer but Irene only smiled, patiently stating everytime that it's alright and Seulgi shouldn't be worried.

“Strawberry smoothie and a slice of Red Velvet cake please.” Irene ordered, she looked at Seulgi, waiting for her order. Seulgi looked confused as of the moment, reading the menu with large eyes and wide opened mouth, Irene giggled at the sight. She liked the sight of Seulgi being cute like a child but they needed to eat and Seulgi looks like she couldn't choose what she wants to eat.

“She'll have the same. ” Irene said, smiling at the waiter before looking back to Seulgi who looked relieved.

“Seriously, Irene. You didn't need to bring me in this—” she flailed her hands wildly, gesturing the whole cafe, Irene laughed. “--in this cafe that sells impossibly expensive snacks!”

“It's fine, Seulgi.”

“But it's not fine with me. I'm being a bother to you.” Seulgi's shoulder dropped, her eyes avoided Irene's own pair, a small pout on her lips. She looked like a child and Irene never wants something this much, she wants to put Seulgi inside her pocket and bring her home.

“You're not, Seul. You were never a bother.”

Irene thinks she seriously wants to bring Seulgi home when the latter's smile came back, wide as ever, eyes turning into crescents and cheeks blushing, the color of the strawberry smoothie that she just ordered.

---

The rain came pouring down and thunder claps were heard every minute the moment they had step into Irene's apartment, all drenched and soaked. Seulgi couldn't help but to look worried when she realized she couldn't leave the apartment tonight, the streets are wet and cold, it's impossible for her to stay outside.

“You can stay, you know.” Irene stated, a hand offering Seulgi a clean towel so she could dry herself. Seulgi muttered a small thank you for the towel. Irene gulped when she noticed how Seulgi's thin white shirt clung to her toned body, she could practically see Seulgi's washboard abs. Irene looked away, afraid of the thoughts that may come into mind if she stared any longer.

“I don't think I can, Irene. But thank you for the offer, I don't want to be a both—”

“I told you, You were never a bother, Seulgi-ah.” and Irene didn't know what came onto mind when her eyes locked with Seulgi's, a bead of water trailing down the taller one's forehead, Irene could only bite her lips and look away, her cheeks reddening, like the strawberry smoothie that she had ordered.

Seulgi could only laugh when she noticed this.

---

“So, what do you do, Rene?” Seulgi asked, the nickname bringing a smile to Irene's flawless face. She watched the taller girl roam around the living room with curious eyes, steps light; afraid that she could ruin something in the house which made Irene giggle. This side of Seulgi is cute too.

“I'm a member of the Special Task Force.”

Thud

Like lightning speed, Seulgi was on the floor, her face planted on Irene's spotlessly neat white tiled floor, Irene yelped at how Seulgi tripped on literally air and fell down, she quickly made her way towards the motionless girl.

“Oh my God, Seulgi. Be careful, Are you okay?” Irene hurriedly lifted Seulgi's face off the floor, she worriedly check the girl's face for scratches or bruise, she thanked the heaven's when nothing had tainted Seulgi's face.

No, not the face. This face is a masterpiece.

“You're a cop?” A giggle had made its way on Seulgi's lips, Irene's brow creased at this. She should be worried when the small giggles grew into laughters but she found herself laughing with the girl instead.

That's how they spent their night, with pouring rain and thunderclaps, with Seulgi's stories and Irene's giggles, with them plopped on the middle of Irene's living room, and with Seulgi's head on Irene's lap.

The backaches they had the next day didn't matter.

It was one of the best nights they ever had.

---

“Seulgi.”

“Yes?”

“Do you want to stay?”

“Do you want me to stay?”

“Of course.”

“Then I'll stay.”

---

The next few weeks felt like real home to both Irene and Seulgi. Irene still went to work and Seulgi still goes to the park to busk and earn money. Both were contented, both were happy. Nothing matters to them right now but each other.

When Irene came home with scars from a small case, Seulgi was there to treat her. Though clumsily, It was obvious that this was new to Seulgi too so Irene guided her, helped her to treat her wound.

And when Seulgi went home from busking with a huge bruise on her head, Irene went furious. She was fuming mad to see the blueish bruise on Seulgi's temple, Seulgi tried to calm the girl down, tried to tell her that it didn't hurt but the flinch she made when Irene touched the bruise was all it took for Irene not to believe the girl. Irene then knew that a man had thrown Seulgi a stone for being too noisy while she was busking. Irene was still furious when she stepped inside her office to file a report. The man was caught but a mere talk with Seulgi was enough to let the man off. Irene disagreed but the hug Seulgi gave her made her calm down and let the case off.

The both knew something was going on between them but no one dared to bring it up. No one wants to initiate something that could result to something big. No one wanted to take the first step, afraid the other person wouldn't follow. Afraid that the other person don't have the same feelings. Afraid to end up ruining what they had.

---

“Irene, someone's waiting for you.” Taeyeon said when Irene and her team entered the headquarters. Irene bowed and quietly thanked her senior before she searched for the person Taeyeon was talking about.

A frown had made it's way on her face when she found Seulgi comfortably sitting on the guest chair at the corner of the room, but she wasn't alone. Jimin was accompanying the girl who looked uncomfortable and uneasy around him, though Jimin might not notice this because he still had this huge (disgusting) smile on his face while talking.

“Seulgi.” Irene called, her voice firm and cold which made Seulgi flinch and immediately stand up and approach the small yet intimidating woman. “What are you doing here?”

“I was wa—”

“I'm not talking to you, Seul. I meant, what are you doing here, Park?” Irene had a brow raised, her eyes threatening and her voice laced with an unspoken warning. Jimin scoffed at this, Seulgi felt scared.

“I was just accompanying Seulgi-ssi because you were out.” Jimin shrugged, hands placed inside his jean pocket. Irene wanted to latch out because of his attitude, she is the senior between the two yet he never addressed her as one, he even had the nerve to mock her every time he had the chance. Irene was like a ticking bomb that's ready to explode whenever he's around.

“Well, thank you for accompanying my friend, you can leave now.” Irene gritted her teeth, she grabbed Seulgi's shirt before dragging her inside her own office, leaving Jimin to stare at their backs with disbelief in his eyes. He rolled his eyes walking back to his office.

“That was kinda mean, Irene.” Seulgi sat herself on Irene's guest chair while placing the box of take outs on Irene's desk, Irene removed her coat before plopping down on her own chair.

“I know. And I also know you're not mean because you brought me food, thank you.” Seulgi giggled at the sight of Irene happily eating the pasta she bought.

“Why don't you wear uniforms? I thought cops like you wear one.” Irene stopped for a second before she continued eating. Seulgi stared at Irene's chipmunk cheeks, full with food and eyes big and bright. Irene's really pretty no matter what she do, she thinks it's illegal by now.

“I'm in a team where we're usually out to undercover, so uniforms aren't our thing.” Irene explained, Seulgi nodded and scanned Irene's whole appearance. She donned a stripped black and white long-sleeved shirt with a pair of black ripped jeans and converse. She looked like a normal person, a teenager even.

“Why were you out?” Irene paused this time, staring straight onto Seulgi's curious eyes. Before she could even get lost she brought herself back to reality. “We're chasing this group of criminals and we checked if there's any sights of them around town. They're nowhere to be seen these days.”

Seulgi nodded, she took a bite of the apple that she brought with her while listening to Irene's words. She couldn't help but to stare at Irene's lips instead, her words getting muffled and only her lips are what Seulgi sees. She gulped the apple that she bit before she could even choke in front of her friend.

“What criminals are they? Are they dangerous or something? What do they do? Should I be scared?” Irene chuckled at this. Seriously, Seulgi doesn't act like a grown woman, Irene might mistake her as a five year-old kid stuck inside a body of a twenty-three year-old woman.

“They're a fake agency that scams rich people for their money. They aren't dangerous, they don't hurt people randomly, they killed a few millionaires though, because of a deal. So yeah, you shouldn't be scared, silly.” Irene giggled at Seulgi's lost expression, she's listening intently like a student listening to a teacher, Irene couldn't help but to pinch the taller girl's cheeks before she resumed eating.

“Wow, your job must be tough.” Seulgi said, Irene could only nod an agreement. “The criminals are lucky, though.”

Irene sent Seulgi a confused look, she couldn't ask in words as she still had a bunch of food stuck inside , munching like a chipmunk, Seulgi smiled at the sight before continuing. “They're able to see a hot officer like you.”

Irene literally choked.

---

Still no sign of Tiger and his fellow fake agents for nearly a month and that made Irene's team feel relieved and unbothered but not the leader, Irene felt like the fake agency has something going on under their sleeves and they want the STF to be laid-back before doing it. Of course, Irene as the leader of her team was restless, she often roam around the streets of Seoul for any signs of Tiger or his agents.

“Officer Bae, I think you need to rest. Maybe Skull's agency already stopped.” Taeyeon said after seeing Irene's disheveled figure hunched behind her own desk, clearly tired and her fatigue winning over her.

“You know Skull, as much as he has the chance, He'll send Tiger and the others to scam innocent people. He never stops.” Irene merely answered without lifting her head to look at her senior, she continued scanning the documents, memorizing every bit of detail about the agency.

“Maybe they already did.” Taeyeon tried once again, she saw how Irene stopped for a second before tossing the thought aside. “I won't rest until they're caught, Sunbae. They killed innocent people, They killed my brother.”

That made Taeyeon stop, the fact that Irene's brother got killed by Tiger and his companions was the reason why Irene is so determined to catch them. A year ago, Irene wasn't assigned to this case, she never cared about the fake agency but after the death of her brother, she put the matter in her own hands and did everything she could to catch the fake agents, their chief had been forced to give Irene the case since Irene wouldn't stop chasing down the criminals even though she had been given a different case.

“Just... Just take a rest, Irene. Go home, It'll be fine.” Taeyeon surrendered, giving Irene a look of pity and sympathy before walking back to her own office. The tone that Taeyeon used didn't go unnoticed by the junior, she sighed before slumping on her desk, resting her forehead on the papers scattered on her wooden table before closing her eyes.

Going home sounds so tempting because of the fact that she's no longer alone in her apartment. Someone's waiting for her to be home.

---

“Hey, you're home early." Seulgi greeted the tired looking girl, she grabbed the bag that was carelessly slung over the smaller girl's shoulder and placed it on the coffee table before she guided the girl to sit on the couch. “Tired?”

“Very.” a lazy smile grazed Irene's face when she felt Seulgi gently massaging her shoulders, untangling the nerves to let her feel more relax and comfortable.

She loved this, she loved it when she's tired Seulgi would be there to welcome her and chase her fatigue away. She loved how a simple smile from Seulgi could brighten her mood. She loved how a simple touch from Seulgi could bring her energy back. And she's getting scared at how attached she is by now, it has just been over a month and there she is, attached and clingy to Seulgi.

“Take a rest, Rene, I'll cook something for you.” Seulgi patted the girl's shoulder before disappearing into the kitchen, sounds of utensils clanking and Seulgi's soft humming was the last thing Irene heard before drifting off to dreamland with a satisfied smile on her lips.

---

“Rene, why did you let me stay?”

“I want to feel like I'm home.”

“But Why me?”

“Because you are my home, Seulgi-ah.”

I love you.

---

Irene didn't waste any chance when her team caught sight of a familiar motorcycle roaring down the roads of Seoul, she immediately stood from her desk and went inside her white Porsche and roared it to life as she went to the area of the city where her team is.

She felt adrenaline kicking in when she her siren, alerting the other vehicles to make way for her, she stepped on the gas, her surroundings blurring as she passed by.

“He's near the Incheon airport, Sunbae.” Jisoo reported through the small radio device, she acknowledge the information by simply sending her a quick 'copy that' before she turned to the direction of the said area.

When she caught sight of the black motorcycle and its rider wearing his signature Tiger black leather jacket she immediately pressed the horn multiple times to stop the said rider. The rider merely gaze at her for a second before raising his gloved-hand and showing a thumbs up which annoyed the officer. She was already tempted to bump the motorcycle using her own car but that would result to physical injury and Irene doesn't want this to backfire, so instead she stepped the gas pedal but she got surprised when the motorcycle turned right and disappeared into a small aisle that only small vehicles can pass by.

She stopped the car, cursed a few times while bumping her forehead on the steering wheel.

“ you, Tiger.”

The Tiger won once again.

---

Seulgi felt her heart drop when she saw Irene curled on top of her bed, covered with white bedsheets and the sound of sobbing echoing through the motionless room.

“Rene?” she touched the lump on the bed, gently caressing the girl's arm in hopes to comfort the obviously crying girl. The officer whimpered at the touch, her sobs being muffled by her own hand while she shifted away from Seulgi's touch.

“Irene, it's me.” Seulgi sadly smiled when Irene faced her with swollen eyes, pouting lips, and figure visibly draped in fatigue.

She looks like a mess.

Though, she still looks beautiful in Seulgi's eyes.

A beautiful mess.

Shh, It's fine.” Irene broke down once again when Seulgi leaned in to engulf her in a hug, a hand on the small of her back while muttering countless comforting words.

That's when Irene knew that keeping Seulgi with her was the best choice she ever did.

Please Stay forever.

---

It was the best choice, everything was fine, everything was warm and beautiful, everything made Irene happy.

Irene didn't know what happened.

Irene didn't know how it ended like this.

Morning came and no Seulgi was in sight. No random guitar strumming are heard, No light humming, no clanking of utensils, nothing.

Irene went to check Seulgi's room, and there she saw all the things she bought for Seulgi, untouched and kept. But what bothered her was the old things that Seulgi had was nowhere to be seen; her old clothes, her guitar, nothing.

Irene never felt so empty before. Not because of the nearly empty room but because of her completely bare heart that Seulgi once stayed at.

And now Seulgi left, and all she had left in her was disappointment.

She cried once again, broke down and cry her eyes out just like last night.

But this time, there's no Seulgi that held her to calm her down.

---

“You look like .” Jimin commented when he bumped onto Irene when he was about to grab a cup of coffee. Irene had bags under her swollen red eyes, she looks pale and ghostly, her once firm and confident figure replaced by a tired and hunched frame. Jimin couldn't help but to feel a tiny bit of sympathy for the girl.

“You're .” that tiny bit of sympathy disappeared when Irene answered back but not as fiercely as before, her voice became hoarse and nasal maybe because she had been crying but one would know that Irene didn't want to show her vulnerability so she acted just like before but the intimidation decreased because of her state.

“I'll let you off this time, Bae.” Jimin dropped the topic off and walked away with his steaming hot coffee, leaving Irene by herself to sigh and gently massage her throbbing temple.

She's slowly destroying herself.

---

She buried herself in work, tried everything to give her best in this on-going case she has on her hands, tried everything to distract herself from thinking about a certain girl with monolid eyes and warm smile, tried her best to not break down in the middle of her own office where she's alone and memories of Seulgi dropping by to give her snacks were everywhere.

She needs to distract herself and Tiger and his fellow agents were good distractions.

So when she caught sight of the black motorcycle, she didn't even think twice to press the gas pedal harder and turn on the siren a bit firmer, it was mere adrenaline rush when she yelled out of irritation and annoyance when the rider of the motorcycle drifted like a pro, resulting to Irene almost colliding into another car. She cursed under her breathe when the rider seems to have no plans on slowing down, just a chase by the road was on his mind.

Irene didn't let herself to lose the sight of Tiger, she didn't care when they're already out of the city, the road seems to be deserted and eerily quiet and maybe she just screwed herself up because when she tried to call for back-up, her radio didn't catch any signal around leaving her to curse and chase the rider all by herself.

She might get ambushed by his fellow agents but she didn't care anymore.

There's nothing left for her to want to live.

Her only family got killed by these merciless agents and when she found a person she was willing to spend her life with, she disappeared.

She felt undeserving. She felt like no one wants her, felt like everyone would eventually leave her, felt like no one was willing to love her.

So dying in the hands of this criminal isn't really scary anymore, she just needs to see the face of her brother's killer and that's all, she'll gladly accept her faith after that.

A few more minutes of chasing around the quiet road, the rider surprisingly turned her vehicle slightly, leaving a trail of dust behind him as he halted his vehicle. Irene stopped her own car a few meters away, quickly removing her seatbelt before getting out, grabbing her pistol strapped on her waist belt and pointing it towards Tiger who nonchalantly leaned his back on his motorcycle.

He didn't look like he was afraid. And that ticked Irene off.

She searched for the rider's eyes behind the tiger printed helmet, pointed her gun firmly as she walked closer.

“Remove your helmet.” Irene ordered but Tiger didn't do anything but to release a dark chuckle that made Irene grow even more furious.

This criminal isn't taking her seriously, she couldn't detect any sign of fear from him, he's laid-back, as if he wasn't just about to be arrested.

“Take your ing helmet off.” Irene's voice grew louder, her figure tenser and her eyes glaring harder. She needs a break in life, she had been carrying extra weight since Seulgi left and she's definitely not in the mood to play hooky with a criminal who's stubborn enough to ignore her orders.

“Look, my team's probably heading this way and if you don't want this to be messy, just come with me calmly.” Irene didn't put her guard down, she knew her team and probably back-ups would be here any minute by now, she knew they weren't stupid enough to let Irene and the criminal disappear to nowhere. They had to find them.

“I knew you'd look hot when you're doing your job.” Irene felt her heart stop, felt the time stop, felt the whole world and universe stop when she heard Tiger's voice.

She doesn't know whether she'll laugh out of disbelief or cry out of disappointment.

How can life be so cruel to her.

“Ah, those jeans and black shirt really suits you, Rene.”

Irene failed to grab a hold of the gun when her hands became jelly, her legs felt weak, she no longer wants to fight the feeling of destruction when that familiar nickname slipped from Tiger's mouth.

“H-How?” She watched the gun stumble on the ground, just like how her heart leaped off her chest and got broken when it collided with the dirt called devastation. She felt tears rolling down her cheeks, felt her hands tremble, felt her head going hazy.

“All those years of chasing yet you welcomed the criminal inside your apartment just because she felt like home.” A dark chuckle from Tiger and more tears from Irene, “Bull.”

Irene didn't utter any word, she no longer has the energy to answer, no longer has the energy to look and stare when Tiger finally removed the helmet and shown the face of the person who she had been searching for the past few weeks.

“You're a fool, Officer Bae.” she heard footsteps coming to her way, sees the black boots that stands before her, hears the light chuckle from the woman in front of her.

“How does it feel?” Seulgi asked.

“The same yet different.” Irene muttered.

She knew this feeling from before, first felt this when she heard Seulgi sing, and now right infront of her is the same Seulgi that she met, she adored, cared, and fell in love with. She's the same Seulgi with sharp eyes that had a soft look in them, the same Seulgi that had the warmest smile she had seen, the same Seulgi that had hugged her to sleep.

Yet she's different, that cunning smirk on her lips was different from the bright smile that she had seen before, the mocking look in her eyes was new, the distant aura that engulf her was different from the friendly air that Seulgi often carried with her before.

She's the same yet she's also different.

She saw Seulgi's hand reach for her face but before she could touch Irene's tear-stained cheeks, echoes of sirens were heard from the distance. Seulgi muttered a curse, quickly walking back to her motorcycle but before she could even got near the said vehicle, Irene had snapped back to reality, grabbing her gun from the floor like lightning speed and pointing it threateningly to Seulgi's retreating back.

“Stop right there, Tiger.” she successfully halted the girl from nearing her vehicle even more, both didn't move an inch as they waited for the sirens to come nearer.

“I'm not letting you escape this time.” Irene muttered, uncontrollable tears strolling freely down her cheeks. She never imagined she would point her gun at Seulgi, never imagined Seulgi would be the same person the she detested for a year, never imagined that she'll arrest Seulgi, never imagined they would end up like this.

“PUT YOUR HANDS UP!” Irene recognizes the voice as Taeyeon, back-up finally came along with her own team as they scattered themselves to corner the girl. Now, Seulgi's in the middle of officers with guns pointing at her but she didn't make a move to put her hands up as a sign of surrender, instead she leaned back on her motorcycle, a smirk playing on her lips.

“T-That's Seulgi, right?” Irene heard Jisoo whisper, and maybe it wasn't so low because Seulgi looked at the girl with her growing smirk, not even a hint of fear in her eyes.

“What the , Irene?! You kept a wanted criminal inside your home, you all know too well that that's against the law!” Jimin yelled, positioned near the back of Seulgi with his gun pointed at her just like everyone is doing. Irene closed her eyes shut at Jimin's statement.

“Calm your because she didn't know. She made a fool out of herself for trusting me. Neither do all of you had any clue that I was spying! Damn, y'all are stupid. Especially you, Officer Park, you even had the guts to flirt with me. Aren't you quite shameless?” Seulgi turned her back to look at Jimin who looked humiliated, his jaw clenched and his hold on his gun tightened the longer Seulgi sent her the same cunning smirk that she wore since the moment she removed her helmet.

“Hand's behind your head, Tiger.” Taeyeon calmly ordered but Seulgi didn't make a move to follow. She simply smirked and like a fox, she swiftly got her gun and pointed it to the nearest Officer—Irene.

“PUT YOUR GUN DOWN!” now Taeyeon's visibly tensed, her eyes dragging from Seulgi back to Irene who remained quiet the whole time. She signaled everyone to not let their guns down as she heard the multiple clicking of the safety pin being removed, sending Seulgi one last glare she warned, “Put your gun down or we'll shoot.”

“Go on and shoot me, don't blame me if Irene would be shot too.” Seulgi smirked when Taeyeon's eyes changed from determined to panic. She dragged her gaze back to Irene who had shut and tears threatening to fall, she felt her heart drop.

“Why are you doing this?” Irene finally asked, everyone had their eyes on Irene but the girl had her gaze locked on Seulgi, no one mattered anymore, she pointed her gun at Seulgi and Seulgi's doing the same, how can something so warm change in to something like this?

“Do you seriously expect me to give you an answer?” Seulgi felt like vomiting right there and then, she wanted to hug Irene but couldn't. Eyes were watching, she knew they weren't alone. She wanted to drop the act and hold Irene but she's tied, tied by the death grip Skull had put on her neck.

“Why did you do this to me?” her facade dropped along with her cunning smirk and mocking eyes, for a second her face shows regret and sadness but it immediately disappeared, the mask returned and she continued.

“You were easy to fool, Rene.” both hearts dropped and broke in sync, one needed to lie while the other believed the painful truth.

“Just shoot her!”

“NO!” Irene glared at Jimin who's obviously fuming mad because of the earlier humiliation.

“AND WHY NOT?” Jimin challenged, looking like he's ready to pull the trigger and shoot Seulgi to death but Irene had her glare locked on Jimin, her gaze screaming for him to not dare her.

“This is my case, if anyone's going to send orders, it's me.” Irene firmly stated, she watched Jimin's eyes summon more fire and hands trembled in the slightest way, she knew Jimin's already furious but she also knew that he wouldn't dare disobey her.

“Wow, you got one hot leader here.” Seulgi whistled, her gun still pointing at Irene rather lazily, she wasn't alert just like them, wasn't scared, she's nonchalant and that perked everyone's annoyance.

“Put all of your guns down.” Irene calmly ordered which had everyone throwing disagreement words and refusal. Seulgi smirked.

“ARE YOU STUPID?”

“I SAID PUT YOUR GUNS DOWN!” and that was the last streak as Irene had pulled the trigger while her hands pointed to the sky, she knew she's getting in trouble for recklessly shooting her gun but Jimin's been getting on her nerve, she already had enough. She's already tired and she needs everyone to cooperate with her without any complains.

“Guns down.” Taeyeon urged everyone as she put her gun down, everyone reluctantly followed the senior with Jimin being the last to do so, muttering profanities under his breathe.

Now Seulgi and Irene are the only ones left with guns, Irene closed her eyes shut before opening them once again, she was greeted by Seulgi's hard stare, no more traces of the playful and mocking attitude that she had earlier.

“You promised me one thing, Seulgi.” Irene started, her hands gripping tightly to hold herself from breaking down, she felt the weight inside her chest while she eyed Seulgi who she couldn't read anymore.

“I know.”

-

Irene and Seulgi was lazily propped on Irene's bed, eyes trained on the television that was showing a news report about two people dying together while holding each other's hand when they were ambushed by a bunch of hooligans for their money.

“You know, I would love to die with the person I love.”  Seulgi muttered, her hand absentmindedly caressing Irene's brown locks.

By now they both knew they're feeling something for each other but neither wanted to talk it out, they were already acting out what they're feeling but no one made it official just yet. No one popped the simple question as they knew it wouldn't really matter, as long as what they feel for each other is real, it's enough.

Irene looked up to her with eyes full of adoration, hand resting on the girl's stomach for a soft hug and legs tangled with each other.

“Die with me?”  Irene giggled at her own childish suggestion, a wide smile carved its way on Seulgi's face while she slowly looked down the person in her arms.

“I promise.”

-

“And I'm planning to keep it.” Seulgi said with seriousness looming her eyes. Irene's tears returned as they both nodded in sync.

This girl killed her brother, yes. But all those time that Seulgi had kept her going on with life, Seulgi made her feel alive again, Seulgi was the one who cared for her when no one does, She killed her brother but Seulgi made up for it when they were living together. She knew it was a mistake to choose Seulgi over justice for her brother, knew that she had been chasing her for a year just for her brother but what can she do? A month and a half with Seulgi was all it took for her to trust the girl, she knew the girl is worth it. Knew evrything would be worth it.

From the moment Seulgi's eyes first faltered she knew it was all an act, she knew everything that happened between them was real, She knew Seulgi didn't mean any of the hurtful words that she sent her way. Irene knew Seulgi very well that even though she's so good in keeping the act, she found her way around it.

Seulgi's feelings was real just like Irene's. Everything was real but not this, not this mocking act that Seulgi's going on about. She kept quiet all this time to read Seulgi's actions and she's sure that they both had the same thing in their minds.

She knew Seulgi was scared of someone, and that someone is watching them just a few distance away, her team wasn't stupid enough to not notice.

They're going to keep the promise they made.

Both triggers were pulled as bullets were released.

Both were shot, both knew it was already the end.

But that didn't stop Seulgi from crawling over to Irene and holding her hand, intertwining their fingers even though they're both covered in blood.

Irene looked at Seulgi with a lazy smile on her face, Seulgi sent Irene that familiar warm smile.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”
