One more chapter to go!!! AND OMG, THE WARMEST CONGRATULATIONS TO SONGSONG COUPLE FOR THEIR BEAUTIFUL NUPTIAL. There’s a line in this chapter abt how YSJ keeps touching KMY in public n I wrote that line yesterday, way before their wedding but then I saw SJK doing the exact same thing when they were at the altar n I nearly dropped my phone screaming rotfl. -Dizz VIRAL LOVE Chapter 57 : CLOSURE “You’re sure you don’t want me to go with you?” Mo-yeon asks one more time as Si-jin gets ready to walk out of the car. She stares at the building across from where they’ve parked their car before she turns to look at her boyfriend once again. The couple had safely arrived in Seoul last night. He didn’t waste his time, he had texted his father straightway, asking to meet him this morning at the coffee shop on the other side of the city where he knows no one would bother them. Si-jin smiles as he reaches across the gearbox to his girlfriend’s cheek. Mo-yeon’s eyes are filled with concern as she wonders if she should ask him to consider waiting for at least a few days before he goes to see his father. But the songwriter also knows her boyfriend; once he has made up his mind he would make it happen as soon as he can because he isn’t one who likes to procrastinate. Just like when he had decided that he wanted to court her almost a year ago. “I’ll be fine babe. Just wait here for me, okay? If you want you can take a nap in the car, I know you’re still tired from last night’s flight.” Mo-yeon watches him closely to make sure he’s really ready for this and then finally nods. She squeezes his hand softly, her heart twisting with worry. “Best of luck, honey.” He drops an affectionate kiss on her hair. “I’d tell you not to worry but I know you will.” She shrugs. “I can’t help it. I’ll always worry about you.” “I know. Which is why I love you.” ------------------------ Just get it over with, Si-jin. Then you can go back and hug your girl. Si-jin takes a deep breath as he walks inside the mostly vacant coffee shop. There aren’t many customers around at this time of the day and he immediately spots his father from where he’s sitting at the back of the shop. He is looking well, clad in his regular golf attire, his greying hair covered in a plaid hat. Yoo Chang-woo looks up as he sips his coffee and gives his son a nod in acknowledgement. Si-jin knows his father had not expected him to reach out for him after their disastrous meeting in London. By the grin on his face Si-jin wonders if his father thinks he’s here to make amend. If only he knew why he is here…. I’m sorry Eomma. But I have to let him know. He exhales and steps forward. It’s time to do what he should’ve done years ago. ------------------------ “Si-jin.” The young footballer nods back before he sits down on the chair opposite from his father. He coughs to clear his throat. “Good morning.” His father continues grinning and Si-jin can see the excitement in his eyes. “I didn’t know you’re back in Seoul. I was really surprised when I received your text. If you had told me earlier we could’ve set up a nice dinner at my favorite steak house, I can bring my girlfriend and you can bring Mo-yeon—" “Father.” Si-jin cuts him off before the older Yoo can babble much longer. He is feeling calm right now, but it would be hard for him to retain his composure if his father keeps bringing up Mo-yeon in every conversation. His stand is unchanged; what he wants is closure, not reconciliation. Not when the hair at the back of his neck still rises every time his father talks about his girlfriend. “I asked you to come today because I have something to tell you.” “What, are you getting married? I knew it!” His father starts laughing before he sees the look in Si-jin’s face. “No? What is it then?” He looks down for a second before he looks up again. “Remember, when you told me you don’t remember half of what you had done before? Back when you were still with Eomma?” The older man immediately turns wary. “Yes?” Si-jin looks him straight in the eyes, his gaze unwavering. “I’m going to tell you about them, today.” ------------------------ To say that Yoo Chang-woo is shocked is an understatement. He listens with eyes wide as saucers while Si-jin recounts everything he had done, every abusive word, every disgusting act. And he freezes when Si-jin begins to calmly recall in stark details what he had done on that cursed night seventeen years ago. He is visibly shaking by the time Si-jin tells him about how he had beaten his own wife and how he had caused the death of his own child. “How…..Nobody told me---My manager said it was an accident--“ Si-jin shakes his head. “Don’t ask me why everyone on your team covered this up. Even the police were your fans and eager to let this go. Maybe they were thinking about you or maybe they just cared about their own pocket. I can only tell you why Eomma didn’t put you in jail for what you had done.” He lets out a small laugh but he doesn’t hide the bitter pain in his eyes and his father nearly flinches in response. “It’s because she loved you so much. It’s crazy, isn’t it? You killed her baby and nearly killed her and still she wanted to protect you.” He shakes his head in wonder, “I love Eomma with all my heart…. But I still don’t get it. Do you know how long I’ve carried this with me? Because I made a promise to her that I would protect you, my father who was so caught up on his fame he ended up ruining his whole family.” For the longest time his father just sits still looking at the table unseeingly without saying anything. Si-jin waits for him to reply but when he remains silent he finally sighs and begins to stand up. “If you have nothing to say then I guess I should go--” “No.” Yoo Chang-woo's voice is barely audible even in the quietness inside the coffee shop. Si-jin slowly sits back down. “What?” “You’re wrong. She didn’t do it to protect me.” Si-jin frowns. “Of course she did. Or else why would have she begged me to lie to the police? To not send you to jail for what you had done? To hold this ing burden for years while I watch you go merrily on your way?” “She did it because of you.” “………..What the hell are you talking about?” The older man stares at his son, for once in his long life finally realizing how vile he had been as a father and a husband; and how shameful he is right now for thinking he can just reach out and have his family back again. “She did it because of you and Myeong-joo. I was the nation’s most famous football star at the time, Si-jin. Just like you are right now. Imagine the shame it would bring if your famous father was jailed for…for….killing y-your sister,” the older man has to force the words out of his mouth, “Your life, your sister’s life…your future would’ve been over. Do you think you can have this career you have right now, as a son of a famous convicted murderer?” Si-jin’s eyes are wide as his brain tries to process his father’s words. “Si-jin Ah,” his father says earnestly, for once in his life trying to do the right thing for his son. “Hate me. I know I deserve it and more. But, I know your Eomma. There was nothing she treasured more than you two. I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for you….but she didn’t mean to burden you. She thought she was protecting you.” His son just stares back at him without saying anything. ------------------------ He really thinks I can just sit back and relax? Haish, jinjja. Mo-yeon has given up on waiting in the car. She’s currently out on the sidewalk, walking back and forth, rubbing her hands together in worry. She keeps staring at the coffee shop across the street. The wind suddenly blows strongly and she splutters as she spits her hair out of . Haish, even the wind is trying to troll with her. God, I hope it’s going okay. Finally, ten minutes later Si-jin walks out of the coffee shop, his hat low and covering his face. His father is apparently still in the shop since Mo-yeon can’t see him anywhere. She takes a deep breath as she waits for him to reach their car, her eyes fixed on his downturn face, trying to read his emotions. If his dad screws this up I’m going to go in there and kick his . He looks up suddenly and Mo-yeon sharply inhales when she sees that his eyes are red. She walks toward him until they meet half-way. “Si-jin?” She asks hesitantly. He just stares at her for a long time before he finally gives her a soft smile. He reaches out and smooths her hair out for her, his eyes glinting with amusement. They were indeed red though, proof that he had at one point teared up during his time inside the shop. “Haish, what happened to your hair, babe? You look like you just went into the dryer for a tumble.” She brings her hand up to still his. “Honey?” He realizes how worried she is so he quickly nods reassuringly. “Hey, no more worries. It’s done, babe.” There is lightness in his eyes that she didn’t notice before this. It’s almost as if he has finally found a piece of a puzzle he’s been searching for so long. She swallows a relieved sigh and moves forward to hug him. “I’m glad.” Si-jin hums in agreement, his arms tightening around her as he inhales her lovely scent. “Come on babe, I’m going to make you something delicious for lunch.” “Nothing too healthy though?” She asks hopefully, her voice muffled by his shirt. He bursts into laughter. “What? Why are you laughing? I’m being serious!” ------------------------------- INSTAGRAM Picture posted by @littleminnie8 : Err guys, I’m not blind right?
