She’s been twisting and turning in her bed ever since Si-jin dropped her off from their date an hour ago. Every time she closes her eyes she keeps seeing his stupid and handsome face, grinning at her as he shoved a bucket of popcorn and iced coffee into her hands. Tt-tt-tt-tt-tt - tt-tt-tttt - tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-t Haish! This again! She gives up trying to sleep. She sits up with a groan and pushes her blanket off before walking into the kitchen for a glass of water. Tt-tt-tt-tt-tt - tt-tt-tttt - tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-tt-t There is a rhythm in her head that keeps repeating itself over and over, in sync with the thrumming of her pulse as memory from tonight keeps playing in her head… and she can’t seem to shake it off. She slowly drinks the water as she stands in her living room, staring at the black Steinway upright piano by the corner of the room that she had owned ever since she was a child, a precious family heirloom from her late father. She knows she won’t be able to sleep tonight until she jots this rhythm down and plays it on that piano. She sighs as she puts the glass down and walks reluctantly to the piano. Am I really going to do this? Haish, but it’s not like anyone will know. I’m never going to tell this to anyone…especially him. She has written hundreds of songs but only two of them had been inspired by the people she knows. The first one was written when she was 13 as she sat alone in her room mourning the anniversary of the dead parents she never gets to know. The second one was earlier this year, a love song dedicated to the two people that she loves as her own. No matter how many times her best friend Ji-soo coaxes her to write a song for her she just isn’t able to do it. The songs come to her, not the other way around. And it seems like she’s writing a third one tonight. The thought terrifies her and yet she knows there’s no other way around it. She won’t be able to function properly until the song is written. So she takes a deep breath and begins playing the beginning of a new song that is composing itself in her head, fully aware of whom it is inspired by. --- 4 hours before “Eh? A movie? Are you sure? What if someone recognizes us?” Si-jin just smiles. “Google ‘Club EOE4 Drive-In’ on your phone.” Mo-yeon blinks, wondering what he’s talking about. He laughs. “Haish, just do it!” She makes a face at his commanding tone yet complies. She types the words on the screen and hits search. She reads quietly for a minute while Si-jin continues driving, his eyes carefully watching the road. “So?” He raises his brows questioningly. Mo-yeon grins. “Let’s do it.” --- They reach the drive-in cinema and Si-jin parks at the spot indicated by the parking lot attendant. Mo-yeon’s eyes are wide as she observes the surrounding from inside his car. It’s a hot Saturday night and the dark parking lot is filled with vehicles. Everyone have to turn their headlights off as the main source of light comes from the huge white screen in front of them. The sound comings from the speakers are booming loud. Thank heavens for Si-jin’s tinted windows or else she would have felt exposed in the crowd. There are some folks who come out of their cars and sit on chairs that they have brought from home, but most of the audience choose to stay inside their cars where there’s air conditioner to cool them down. “I didn’t even know this thing exists in South Korea…I thought they only have this in America…” Si-jin laughs as he nods in agreement. “Yeah, I only found out about it from my fellow teammates. I’ve never been here myself before.” Mo-yeon raises a brow suspiciously. “Really? Then where do you usually take your dates to?” He shrugs. “I didn’t date.” Seriously? With that face?
