All The Proof You Need

Spoiled

Looking down at the card in his shaking hands, Daehyun found it hard to swallow around the growing lump in his throat. The morning had started with rolling in bed with his fiance and was quickly dampened by a summon from his father. And that was where Daehyun currently sat, inside his father’s home office beside Yongguk, a wedding invitation on his grip. Not just any wedding invitation, but his own. His father was planning everything. The day, the time, the decorations, the invitation list, even what he and Yongguk would be wearing, Daehyun had no say in it. It felt like he had no control on his life and, yeah, he loved Yongguk and couldn’t wait to marry him but… What if Yongguk didn’t love him? What if they got married and he hated it? Maybe this wasn’t what Yongguk wanted at all.

His breathing began to speed, laboring to get enough air past his impending anxiety attack. How would he even know if Yongguk was marrying him out of love or just for his mother and his future? He wouldn’t know… And it was scary to assume it… Yongguk’s hand reached out to hold his, squeezing gently. Giving him a grateful look, Daehyun took a shaky breath and continued nodding along to whatever his father was saying.

“Lets go see mom today, Okay?”As they finally left the office, Yongguk wrapped his arms around Daehyun, holding him close. “I’m sure she’d be happy to see you.” Daehyun was still trying to process that in only a week, he’d be forcing Yongguk into marriage so he barely managed to nod in agreement.

“Yeah. Yeah, okay? Whatever you want.” Barely comprehending Yongguk’s words, Daehyun was staring down at the now mangled invitation in his hands. He couldn’t do this. He couldn’t force this on Yongguk. Heart racing, all he could hear was the sound of it beating rabidly in his chest.

“Dae… Baby, are you okay?” Arms wrapped around him, steadying him, and Daehyun choked back a whimper as the invitation fell to the floor. How could he explain this to Yongguk without hurting the other man in some way? He just wanted to know for sure that this was real. He wanted to have some control back. It felt like everything was falling apart around him.

“I… Yongguk…” Turning to face his fiance, Daehyun felt his lip quiver, the danger of bursting into tears alarmingly present.

“I’ll tell you what, baby. I’m going to go buy something special for breakfast. You go ahead and see mom first.” With a gentle kiss, Yongguk rubbed Daehyun’s cheek, making his pounding heart falter for a moment. “I know it’s hard to tell me everything, but you know mom wont judge you. Just talk to her while I’m gone. Please.”

“Okay.” Nodding, Daehyun took a shaky breath and returned his lover’s kiss. “Thank you, Yongguk.” Pressing his forehead against Yongguk’s shoulder, he was relieved that the other man was still concerned for him despite the fact that his future and wealth were entirely certain at this point and he had no real incentive to care anymore.

“I love you, Jung Daehyun. Now go on. I’ll see you soon.” Yongguk rubbed his back gently before they parted ways and Daehyun wandered through the mansion to stand awkwardly in front of his fiance’s mother’s room. It took a moment for him to gather his thoughts enough to enter. One look at the woman whom had always comforted him and he couldn’t help but break down, all of his troubles tumbling from between his lips as he sat beside her bed and sobbed.

By the time he was don’t with his explosion of emotion, Daehyun was exhausted, his head on Yongguk’s mother’s bed as she his hair comfortingly. She had listened to him cry over her son for so many years, it was hard no to feel sorry for it. But if Daehyun trusted anyone to give him advice, it was this woman. And she had helped him a lot, reassured him that he’d get the proof he needed before the wedding. Daehyun’s anxiety was still prevalent but it no longer felt like it was choking him.

“Go lay down and drink some water, dear. And don’t forget to eat when you wake up.” With a kiss to his forehead, the kind woman sent him on his way with a gentle ruffle of his hair.

“Daehyun?” Yongguk’s voice met him when he entered into the hallway, full of concern. “Have you been crying? Baby, are you okay?” Arms encircled him and Daehyun couldn’t help but melt into the embrace. Even with his anxiety mounting, Yongguk still felt like home. A home he was terrified of losing, of being a lie, but still, the only place he belonged.

“I’ll be okay. I just need a nap. Been a big day.” Being as honest about his feelings as he could, Daehyun kissed Yongguk gently, holding on to him for a moment. “I love you.”

“I love you too. I’ll come check on you after I see mom.” Yongguk kissed him back and released him, the two sharing a look before Daehyun continued down the hallway alone. If Yongguk didn’t love him… Daehyun wasn’t sure that was something he could handle. Not after finally having him back again. Not after walking away from Jongup. He’d have to work hard to trust Yongguk’s mother and wait for the proof he needed.

Yongguk entered his mother’s room, confused and worried. Everything had been going so well between himself and Daehyun. When they found out their wedding was pushed forward he was excited. All he wanted was to marry that beautiful man. But he has seen the tension growing in Daehyun. Maybe he didn’t feel the way Yongguk did.

“My son!” His mother sounded cheerful, bringing a smile to his lips. Every moment she was in a good mood, that she was feeling well, was a moment of happiness for him. “Congratulations on your engagement.”

“So Daehyun told you?” Sitting down in the chair beside his mother, Yongguk opened the bag of food, moving aside the small cheesecake he had bought his fiance to get out the pastries for his mother. “Did he… I mean, you don’t have to tell me if he wants to keep it from me but… Did he tell you what’s bothering him?”

“You’re worried about him, aren’t you?” His mother’s voice was sympathetic as she patted his hand gently. “I will tell you his problem but the solution has to come only from you.”

“As long as I know, I can at least try to help him.” Yongguk leaned back in his chair, staring up at the ceiling. He understood that he was still working up the trust in Daehyun again, that he had damaged him and it would take some time to heal those wounds… But when it was something this clearly serious, he just wanted Daehyun to let him help him.

“He’s worried you’re marrying him for my sake. That you’re acting like you love him for your future. He’s worried you’ll be unhappy married to him.” The words shocked Yongguk and he sat up quickly to face his mother.

“What?! But that’s absurd! I… Damn it. I’ve never loved anyone more than I love that little brat.” Growling, he stood and started pacing. “What do I do?”

“I can’t tell you that, my son. If it comes from anywhere but your heart, he wont accept it.” Sounding regretful, his mother gave a heavy sigh and patted the chair. “Sit and calm yourself, Yongguk. You’ll think of something. I know you will.” Yongguk stopped his pacing and turned to his mother. Daehyun needed proof he wasn’t doing this for money, that he loved him… It was as though something clicked in his mind and he knew… Without a doubt, Yongguk knew what he had to do.

“Thank you, Mom. Eat well. I have to go.” Kissing his mother’s cheek, he grabbed Daehyun’s cheesecake and raced out of the room as fast as he could.

It took him only a minute to make it all the way to the floor he shared with his lover. Shoving Daehyun’s breakfast in the refrigerator, Yongguk returned to what was once his bedroom but, recently converted into a home office so he could work on the projects Daehyun’s father gave him, and booted up the computer. In a matter of minutes he was was working on his plan. By the time he was done, he hoped Daehyun would have no more doubt left in his love.

Daehyun woke up a few hours later to the noon sun glaring over his face through a crack in the curtains. Sitting up, he felt a little more calm than he had before his nap, but the worry was still there. Glancing around, he wondered why Yongguk hadn’t woken him yet. As he slipped out of bed, he heard the other men approaching their bedroom.

“Oh. You’re awake.” Yongguk was grinning when he scooped Daehyun into his arms, doing a half spin as his kissed him passionately. “I hope you slept well. You have cheesecake in the fridge.” Daehyun was dizzy and confused when Yongguk sat him back on his feet.

“Have you eaten?” Rubbing his head sleepily, Daehyun looked his lover over. Something was clearly causing the man a great deal of excitement and he felt a little left out.

“I actually forgot to…” Blushing slightly, Yongguk chuckled and reached out to pull Daehyun into a tight hug. “I’ll eat in moment. But I need to finish something first.”

“What’s going on? What did I miss?” Frowning, Daehyun pushed away from the other man slightly, getting irritated at being left in the dark.

“My love, my baby, my Daehyunnie~” peppering his face with kisses, Yongguk spun him around again. “We have to meet with a lawyer in a half an hour and then we have to get on a plane. So you need to eat quickly. Forget showering. We’ll do that at the hotel.”

“What?” None of the words Yongguk was saying made any sense to him. “What are you talking about? Yongguk… I just woke up. I’m not awake enough for this.”

“Right. Right.” Laughing, Yongguk turned away, picking a document off the nightstand. Getting on one knee, he held it out for Daehyun to take. “Jung Daehyun, Would you make me the happiest man on earth and give me a prenup?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Holding the stack of papers in his hands, Daehyun looked down at Yongguk, his heart racing.

“A prenuptial agreement. It says that, if at any point you no longer want to be with me, you will regain full control of your father’s company and I get nothing. No money, no property, nothing.” Smiling, Yongguk nodded at the paperwork. “We have to finalize it with the lawyer in about twenty minutes so I’m going to need an answer so we can pack and you can eat on the way.”

“Yongguk… I… I don’t know what to say…” Chewing nervously on his bottom lip, Daehyun tried to comprehend exactly what he was being told. A prenup? Where Yongguk would walk away with nothing?

“Say yes. Dae. Baby. I love you. I don’t want this money, this company. All I want is you.” Yongguk held his wrists gently, their eyes meeting, easing any fears that Daehyun might have had that this was a ploy to get what he wanted. “And if you ever doubt that, then you can take it all from me and your father can’t say anything because it’s my choice as the head of the company.”

“Yongguk…” Nodding, he leaned forward, throwing himself into Yongguk’s arms. “Yes. Yes. But… But why are we packing?”

“We’re going to Paris.” Placing a soft kiss on Daehyun’s lips, Yongguk gave him a reassuring smile. “I remembered you always wanted to get married there with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop and the night lights of Paris twinkling in the background. So we’re going.”

“But my father…” Shaking his head, Daehyun felt his heart sink. “He’ll never allow this.”

“Your father can blow me.” Pressing their foreheads together, Yongguk rubbed Daehyun’s cheeks with his thumbs. “He needs me and if he causes a problem here, I’ll leave him on the streets when the company is ours. We’ll still do his stupid wedding but first… I’m giving you the one you always wanted. No paparazzi, no press, just you and I and the Paris lights.” Nodding, Daehyun put his trust back in Yongguk and the two began their frantic rush to prepare for their journey. He didn’t have anything to fear anymore. Yongguk loved him and everything was going to be okay.

Chapter 17: I'm very happy, Daehyun was always with Yongguk from the start and as much as jongup loves him their love is too thin to compare. Saying that jongup doesn't deserve to be with daehyun is a lie but yongguk and daehyun have been through thick and thin. Yongguk is willing to let daehyun choose his own happiness but jongup is the one holding him back and chaining him to his heart. Loving someone is not a fault, but the fault lies when you keep that love for only yourself
