~My POV~

It’s been 2 weeks since my accident. Mai Lee and I have been inseparable since. I guess you can say she’s my best friend. But I now consider her more of a sister than a friend. Her family and Taehyun are super nice to me. So I’ve decided to move in.

“Hey, got everything packed?” Mai Lee asked me entering the room.

“Yeah I think so.” I answered.

“What’s in the box?” She questioned pointing to the round tub. I glanced at it realizing I’ve never seen it before in my life.

“I . . . don’t . . . know.” I responded.

“Open it.” Mai Lee urged. I did as she said, I felt anxious opening the box. Considering I’ve never seen it before. Mai was looking over my shoulder; I could see she was anxious too.

“An envelope?” Mai Lee asked sounding a bit disappointed.

“Were you expecting treasure?” I teased.

She smiled at my comment. “Is that all? Just an envelope?”

“And . . . the little green box.”

“Green box? What’s in it?”

“I don’t know I’ve always bothered my parents about it. And they’ve always said they’d show me when the time was right.”

“Well you’re moving out so I guess the time is now.” Mai Lee assured me.

“Here, will you read this to me?” I asked handing her the envelope.

“Sure.” She replied.

“Who’s it from?”

“Your parents . . .

If you are reading this, you are finally ready for the little green box you were always so curious about as a young child. In this letter you will learn the truth behind what the box holds. You will understand why Appa and I kept it from you and we hope you won’t be angry with us. Just know that your Appa and I love you very much and nothing is going to change that.

“Angry? What is she talking about?” Mai asked. I slowly opened the round Christmas green lid and found . . .

“A key?” Mai Lee and I said together.

“To what?” She asked.

“I honestly don’t know.” I answered. I let out a frustrated sigh. I’m so confused. What does this key go to? Why would they give me a key and not the object it goes to? And why would I be angry with them? Aish . . . I'm so confused.

“I take it you don’t know what this goes to?”

“Not a clue.” I murmured.

“Well, it has a heart engraved on the key. Do you have anything that has the same symbol on it?” She questioned.

“Not that I remember or know of.” I replied.

“Hmm, I’ve got nothing. Sorry I wasn’t much help.” Mai apologized.

“No, it’s okay me either. Umm, I’ve got my things we should go.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, we’ll come back another day.” I assured her.

We went back to Mai Lee’s my new home and I couldn’t wait. It’s different, going there then spending the night and leave. But this time I’m actually here to stay. It feels soo nice! I have people a family to greet in the morning, people a family to eat dinner and spend holidays with, and a new home and dance studio where I can be myself. I never thought I would have this feeling again until I was back in Seoul with my family. But I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.

“Did you get everything?” Mai Lee’s mom asked me.

“Uh yeah.” I replied non attentively.

“Are you alright honey?” She questioned me.

“Yeah, just a little confused.”

“About what?”

“Oh, it’s nothing. Really.” I tried to assure her.

“Are you sure you don’t wanna talk about it?” She tried asking again. See that’s one of the many things I love about this family. They wanna understand and listen to each other’s troubles. They are always there for one another.

“Yes, I’m sure . . . at least I think I am . . .” I said softly to myself. “Really, it’s okay. I know I just started living here. But you don’t have to-

“Sunny, you’re apart of this family now. You were even before you moved in. We are always going to be here whenever you need us. We love you Sunny.”
