Honeymoon With A Stranger

It feels like my heart will rip as much as I regret

(Don't Be Happy - Mamamoo ft. BK)

Standing in the altar, both hands together as the priest recites his words and hear her I do, Kyujong flashed what you would call a seemingly happy smile. One such smile that he'd often used while he was tired but had to continue with the filming and the same smile he would show people who pretend tries to get on his good side for the money.

He would've been the biggest idiot looking groom had he pulled up and flashed his million dollar smile hearing those two magical words slip out of her beautifully colored cherry lips had he not received that letter just a few couple of days prior to the wedding. But as luck has it, he was saved from wasting the muscle of doing so.

He almost dazed out as the thought of anger rattled around his head.

"And do you, Mr. Kim Kyujong, take this woman, who's hand you hold, to be your true and wedded wife, in sickness and in health,; for rich or poor, so long as you shall live?" Said the priest reciting the same lines.

Not losing his smile, he let's go of her hands and quickly saw the confusion with a hint of annoyance in her eyes as he ed his shirt revealing an A4 size envelope handing it to his bride. "You might want to look at this." He whispered loud enough for the microphone to pick up drawing a quick smirk on his face before it fell cold and unforgiving. Without looking at the priest he said with clear precision, "I am sorry Father, but I, in any time or any other life, do not." He then turned to the guests and said, "Thank you for coming everyone. The reception is all paid for so help yourselves."

Midway down the aisle, his bestman caught up to him blocking his way. He tried so hard to keep his cool pushing away the thoughts of violently grabbing the man and putting him in a choke hold until he loses his breath or simply punching the life out of him as he spoke to him.

"What are you doing?" Jung Seunjung asked in a low tone pressing a hand on his shoulder.

His deadly cold glares traveled from his friend's face to his hand on his shoulder. "Take your filthy hands of me." Kyujong replied in the same low but deadly tone.

Seungjun actually took a step back and turned to the side as he swallowed and trembled in fear from his friend's dangerous aura. "W-what's wrong with you?"

Kyujong contemplated for a second whether he should have it all blow out and shove everything right at his face or walk away. Giving him a once over, he scoffed and moved along ignoring the man. He has wasted and invested to much in these people that he prayed to be damned if he ever wasted anymore on the likes of them.

As the door closed behind him, he couldn't help but feel lightness in him. And for the first time in weeks after feeling like sh*t finding out about his fiancee's affair, he felt quite the smug, smiling and mentally giving himself a pat on the back.

"Where to Mr. Kim?" Asked the driver asked looking his way with a smile.

Kyujong returned the gesture. "To the airport please. I've got a honeymoon to catch." He said getting in and letting the driver close the door for him.

After a long and tiring flight, all Kyujong wanted to do was to get through customs, find his ride, get to the hotel and crash on his comfortable bed. And he would've been there minutes ago if this ridiculous customs agent would just do their job and stop being idiots mocking those passengers who don't seem to know how to speak English. He was coming up next when he heard the two whispering somethings at each other while looking at him.

Damn. Why does it feel like middle school all over again?

Furios as he was, he kept a calm facade reaching out for his passport in his pocket feeling the device next to it.   A devious smile wanted to smear his lips but instead, he kept his facade, pressed a familiar button then fished out his passport handing it the customs agent. It didn't take a second as the simpleton started ranting off talking to Kyujong like a fool and once he started, he didn't miss a beat continuously berating him. Kyujong merely stood there acting the part then he took note that the agent was done checking his papers but not with his insults.

Kyujong reached out for his passport as the man handed it to him then noticed a man in the same uniform approach the agent.

"Yes, sir?" Asked the simpleton and Kyujong knew this must be a superior. The said superior quietly said something to simpleton that made him flush. "That's a flat out accusation, sir!" He exclaimed. "I have been nothing but polite to my clients. I am-"

Kyujong couldn't help but pull the  gadget out, replaying the recording of the simpleton and his fellow agent's amusement earlier. As soon as they heard that, the superior cocked a brow at him and he handed the device to the man.

"All yours. I don't really have any use for it now." Kyujong smirked watching the simpleton grew pale as he left the premises.

Damn her!

Damn me...

Byul defeatedly cursed herself tightening her arms around her legs biting her lips and pressing it on her knees not wanting any sob to escape her lips for the sake of her own safety.

She didn't know how long she's been hiding now but judging from the solor of the sky and the protest in her stomach, it had been a while. She didn't want to hide this long but she had no choice unless she wanted to risk herself getting seen and caught by the two older men who were out on a hunt for her. Being reminded of what had caused her to hide in such a place, she started questioning herself.

How did this happen exactly? Why am I even hiding? I didn't even do anything wrong... did I? I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't... She trailed off at the realization. Then it just made her want to cry even harder or hit herself for her own credulity. If it wasn't for her...

[Flashback]

"I mean, don't you have anyone else in your office to go? This seminar-workshop really doesn't fit my job at all." Byul asked her mother for the nth time as she checked her luggage one last time. It was the night before her departure and she had to make sure she had enough of everything to keep herself from spending on anything unnecessary during her trip.

"How many times do I have to tell you, dear?" Her mother said appearing from her kitchen doorway with a bow of rice on both hands placing it on the table. "I already told you before. You know how I hate repeating things."

Tch. That's because you don't know how to keep up with your lies. The thought shocked her that it made her jump on her skin.

Ofcourse her behaviour didn't escape the observant eyes of her mother. "What's wrong? You looked like you saw a ghost or something."

Byul whipped her head at her as if only realizing that the woman was there then shook her head. "I-it's nothing. I just remembered something about work." Unlike her mother, she could actually keep up with her lie as it wasn't really a lie - in a way. She then relaxed herself not wanting her mother to prod on the subject any longer taking the seat to her mother's left and started eating.

It hadn't been that long since she and her mother reconciled so she thought it must simply be a residue from the resentment she had towards the woman.

It had only been two months. She thought digging in on her food.

When morning came, as Byul discussed with her mother, she left the house and got to the airport via taxi and was on the boarding area ready to head to the plane when she heard a familiar voice calling her name. She turned around then took a step away from the line as she noticed her mother standing behind the velvet ropes holding what looks like a folder or envelope.

"What are you doing here?"  She asked checking the time.

"I forgot to give you these." Her mother said handing her the document. "You might need it when you get there."

"What is it?" Byul asked about to open the thing when her mother stopped her. "There's no time! Go. You need to get on board."

She turned around again and saw that the last person had gotten through alread so she just packed the papers on her carry-on.

"Why there? Put it in your luggage. It''ll be safer there." Her mother said.

"Mom. Luggage has already been checked in and like you said, I have no time." Byul said giving her mother a kiss on the cheek and said goodbye before turning her back on her.

It was a long and tiring flight but no matter, Byul made it and all she wanted was to be done with this pig headed agent who thinks he could go on about spitting his idiotic insults to the passing clients thinking they had no idea what he was talking about. The funny thing is, this said client actually understood every word he said but she simply chose to be quiet not wanting to cause any more nuisance.

When she finally passed through, she noticed that the exit gate closest to where she stood is under maintainance and there was a sign directing passengers where the next closest exit is. She craned to followed where the crowd were headed but then it was like an endless line of people.

So much for energy. She groaned mentally.

As she trudged on taking her time, she caught the familiar tones of her language specially like her dialect and turned to see two older men talking as they walked a step or two from her. She felt a small wave of relief surge through her feeling that she could actually come to the men for help but just in case, she kept to herself first and listened to check if they could be trusted. So she listened and the last thing she wanted to hear was her name being mixed in the conversation. But the next thing she heard, sent shivers down her spine and it is not the good kind.

From the shock of what she'd heard, she stopped in her tracks and that would've been the biggest mistake she made during that day. Still in that statem she didn't notice someone bumping on her luggage making it fall and cause quite the noise attracting the attention of those nearby. And by those nearby... She made one look at the two older men and before she knew it, her feet were on the pedal running for her life.

[End of Flashback]

Damn it! Where the hell am I now?

Kyujong cursed himself turning left and right trying to figure out where the exit was. He took a few more steps to the left side when he figured it was only leading him deeper in the secluded section of the airport so he turned back and as he retraced his steps, something made him stop on his tracks. He looked around but couldn't see anyone so he shook it off.

Ugh. I must be losing-

There it was again.

He stopped to listen and that pretty much confirmed that someone was there with him. So instead of retracing his steps back, he stayed still for a good few seconds and then started to follow where the sound was coming from. It led him to one of the pillars and the closer he got to it, he started to notice the reflection of a girl seating behind the pillar and as it seems, the voice was coming from her.

Tired and sleepy, Byul started dozing off which she immediately stopped herself from totally falling asleep not wanting to risk herself being found and getting caught. So instead of doing nothing, she started stretching her muscles out not wanting them to cramp up in case she might need to run and thought of ways to keep herself awake. Wrapped up with thinking of ways to keep herself awake, she hadn't noticed that she had just started singing.

She's got  a nice voice. Not the diva or poppy type but still... Her voice is beautiful.

He thought as he kept a close distance watching the girl's reflection and listening to her singing.

But then... Why is she hiding? If she's running away from someone then she did find a great place to hide. I'm guessing only the security or janitor comes around here. Or maybe not...

He heard footsteps and people talking coming closer to where he was but then he also noticed that the singing stopped making him turn to check on the reflection and sure enough, he saw the girl looking back at him in with her eyes wide open. It took a second for him to figure out why that is when it registered to him that it was fear. The voices became louder and he figured it was coming from just around the corner so that meant he only had a second to decide whether to hide or be seen by who they were.

Turning to the reflection once more and watching the girl begin to scurry , he cursed himself and followed her. They were close to the lavatory he'd seen earlier so taking longer strides, he pulled the girl, opened the door and closed it locking it from the inside. He looked around and noticed he could see everything which only meant the light was on then he turned to the girl and his immediate action was to cover then turned the light off.

Chapter 23: This couple...! So soft, especially at the scene where they were looking at the baby bump. I really like how Kyujong knows what's on Byul's mind. I enjoy the parallels to previous chapters. Looking forward to the next one!
