The glint in Namjoon’s eyes darkened, and his round pupils stretched into a straight thin line. The edge of his lips stretched wider than normal facial muscles allowed, revealing sharp teeth that resembled beastly fangs. He lifted his hand, feeling the nail of his index finger extend as he wished. It acted as a knife when he traced it over Taemin’s clothes, slashing it open to reveal the wounded hole in his skin. Blood was dripping out, and part of his inside flesh was visible to the eye.   “Hm,” Namjoon hummed to himself, slightly his lips. “Let’s start.”   He pierced his long nail inside Taemin’s chest, watching as the boy squirmed. To their greatest surprise, he victim managed to open his eye.   “You’re alive,” Namjoon spoke with utter delight. It did not stop him from continuing his piercing into Taemin’s flesh. In fact, it was much more fun when his victims were aware he slid their chest open. Their cries and screams of agony were a sweet lullaby to his ears.   “Should we kill him?” Jangmun asked, getting his gun ready.   “No, Jangmun. We don’t kill our victims. Where’d our humanity be in that?” Namjoon replied with a sing song voice. He stabbed the second nail into Taemin’s chest, and he shouted a wondrous frantic yell.   “You’re not human! You’re monsters!” Taemin yelled in between his sharp gasps, trying to withstand the pain.   “Oh, you are right about that. We are wendigos,” Namjoon spoke as if he had been reminded of an important fact. His nails slowly slid down his flesh in a painful and torturous manner. In no time, the victim’s chest was cut open in half.   “Don’t do this!” Taemin yelled. He hissed in excruciating pain, feeling the cold sweat dripping from his forehead. It hurt so much his feeling numbed the pain, as if he tried to adjust to this feeling of being sliced.   Namjoon ignored him, only smiling when fear was so imminent. He shifted several of Taemin's internal organs aside, wondering what he could harvest for dinner. Every move made Taemin gasp for breath, knowing his life was nearly on the edge. Eventually, he lost his remaining consciousness and fell unconscious.   Suddenly, there was a silver sword that appeared in sight. It came in such a close proximity, Namjoon was forced to move away from the victim. The look in his eyes hardened, and he stared at the intruders who appeared right at this moment: an entire group of meddlesome humans.   “Stay away from him,” Hoya spoke, clenching his sword tightly in his hand. The look in his eyes, however, wasn’t violent at all. He was the type to protect, not to fight.   Biah had appeared next to Taemin, looking confused whether she should heal him first or wake up the stunned Maerin. She then turned to her husband who was facing her with his back, too preoccupied holding the wendigos off for her to do her healing.   Jangmun changed the ammo of his gun using movements too quick to be seen by the onlookers. He then aimed the gun towards Hoya’s head, the one spot he’d never miss.   “No!” Biah yelled, looking up in horror. She was about to kneel down next to Taemin’s body, but got distracted from her task as a healer.   But Hoya was not such an easy target, and swiftly moved his body aside. What the wendigos didn’t realize, however, was that trying to meddle with Hoya was going to anger Yoongi as well. When they least expected it, Yoongi appeared from the other side and tackled Jangmun’s gun away from his hand. Before he had a chance to retrieve it, Yoongi already shoved the halbert against Jangmun’s neck.   “Do not mess with my people,” he threatened.   “Don’t kill him,” Biah pleaded, while she herself was placing her staff on top of Taemin’s wound.   Yoongi rolled his eyes. Was she actually serious? The entire purpose of the entire game was to kill the other players. He was not going to spare anyone’s life.   “I can accept you for saving Jinah’s life because she is one of us. But why should I spare others?” He asked, looking at the girl who immediately had nothing else to say. He had yet to understand why they tried to save the goblins.   Jangmun’s eyes widened. “Jinah’s hurt?” He whispered the words from his mouth. There was something in his heart that clenched with constricting fear.   Without saying anything, he rolled to the side to avoid the deadly halbert, picked up his gun and fled from the scene.   Yoongi had no idea what happened, but he had to focus on Namjoon who was being hold off by Hoya. They could do this, they always fought side by side and handled enemies much bigger than this wendigo before.   “Be careful,” Biah shouted. She looked down at her staff and realized it took much longer to heal Taemin’s wounds. They were much more severe, and made the tears dwell in her eyes. But it was working, little by little.   Hoya was too concentrated to reply her. Namjoon was strong, and didn’t look so much as himself. He resembled a vicious beast on two legs, but apparently it wasn’t even his final form yet.   “Two against one isn’t very fair,” Namjoon sang to them and chuckled. His voice was no longer that of a man, it was beastly. There was an echo of deep bass rooted in every word he spoke. Before their very own eyes, he allowed his body to transform.   Hoya and Yoongi watched in shock as Namjoon’s height nearly doubled. His muscles expanded and was much bulkier now. His charming face took on the form of a beast or demon; his eyes were glaring yellow, his mouth stretched from ear to ear, and his nose wasn’t visible. His body defied all human ligaments, and his arms expanded below his knees. He was a weird and strange creature, the true wendigo form.   “But I can still take you all,” the wendigo spoke.     There was a small creaking of the branch, and Baekhyun immediately halted his movements. He protectively held a hand out in front of Yeonji, whom he had managed to pull along against her own will.   “Hing?” Bacon chirped, confused.   “I think I heard some yelling. Isn’t that the sound of the humans?” Baekhyun looked slightly wiser when he was completely on guard like this. He then turned to Yeonji and read that vague expression again.   “Are you scared?” He couldn’t help but ask. His tone showed genuine worry instead of trying to mock her.   “Not scared. I just don’t see the point in doing all of this,” Yeonji said, looking away from his gaze. He wouldn’t be able to understand. No one could. Despite being of the same race, she had no interest to help her teammates out. In the end, there was no one she could trust.   “We need to make sure the goblins win. For that to happen, we need Taemin and Maerin to stay alive,” Baekhyun tried to get through her. True, he had no idea what was holding her back, or what was scarring her. But there was no time to ponder about the past when one had to change the future.   Seeing her stubborn reluctance, Baekhyun finally grabbed her hand. “We’re gonna save them, because that’s what teammates do for each other. They got our back, and we got theirs. Come on.”   Yeonji couldn’t put up a protest and let him drag her again, but this time, they were no longer alone. The moment Baekhyun turned around, he was greeted by the sight of a patched up bunny doll in front of his face.   “Hi,” Yibyul cheerfully greeted them, moving Ohana’s tiny arm so the bunny was the one waving instead. “We meet again.”   Baekhyun felt Yeonji tightening her grip around his hand, and he had no idea whether she meant for him to be cautious, for them to run, or option number three he did not know of.   “Yibyul, what are you doing here?” Yeonji asked, giving a subtle sign to Baekhyun. Apparently, the squeeze meant for him to shut up.   “Namjoon told me I couldn’t come along to hunt for TaeTae. He took Jangmun with him, and Jineul secretly ran away. I’m all alone and bored now,” Yibyul pouted and sighed. Then she gasped out loud as if receiving a brilliant idea. “Hey! We could play!”   Baekhyun was alerted and got ready to take his weapon, but Yeonji held him back.   “I don’t think you’re able to, Yibyul. Because you are feeling very tired. You are bored of waiting and have become extremely sleepy,” she said, approaching the girl with her calming voice.   Yibyul had no idea what happened but found herself yawning. She rubbed the side of her eyes and looked at Yeonji with big eyes of anticipation. “If I take a nap now, will you still play with me later?”   “Of course.” Yeonji smiled reassuringly. She extended a hand out, hesitating for a moment before she began to caress the younger girl’s head. “Go to sleep, Yibyul.”   Yibyul yawned once more and began to settle down on the ground. She whispered a soft goodnight, and closed her eyes.   “Should we schhwaff her in her sleep?” Baekhyun made another nonsense sound, motioning the movement of stabbing a sword into the wendigo.   “No,” Yeonji immediately said, and Bacon squeaked along to form an X with its wings.   Baekhyun widened his eyes in surprise. Did Yeonji care for the wendigo girl? Couldn’t be, she didn’t even want to save their fellow goblin friends.   “If we kill her now, I have a feeling it would anger Kim Namjoon. And based on my observations, there must be a reason why the other wendigos fear him,” Yeonji said, staring at the girl who was now sound asleep. “We spare her for now.”   Baekhyun mouthed a small wow under his breath, quickly following as the girl left. He thought Yeonji was only occupied stealing Jongdae’s money, but apparently, she had skilfully observed every single action that happened. She was a remarkable player.     Jineul wasn’t even a ninja or assassin, yet she found herself stalking other players more so than she ought to. Namjoon told her to sit around and do nothing, which was against the nature of Shin Jineul. As soon as Namjoon and Jangmun left, she moved to the opposing direction before Yibyul could notice her disappearance.   Now she was hiding behind a tree, spying on a group of people who did an awful job at being quiet and discreet. Among them all was Im Jinah, standing healthily as if nothing had happened, although she was leaning unto Jihye for support.   What sorcery was this? Jinah was supposed to be on the verge of dying. Maerin stabbed her me

Since everyone had such interesting apps at the beginning, if anyone wants to write a one shot, spinoff, or sequel based on this story, you are more than welcome to do so~ (IF... I shouldn't think that highly of this story, but in case if anyone wanted to. Lololol)

Chapter 27: Finally finish reading this today. I like how with Hoya being a hybrid King, he would bring a change into how the different races are treated. But it makes me wonder if he would get rid of the battle for the Ephemeral Crown since it caused the death of many people including Biah and Yoongi, the people closest to him.

Chapter 20: Reading this chapter, I did feel that one of them will betray the group. I kind of thought it would be Jangmun but it turns out to be Jihye.

Chapter 10: To be honest, I can't bring myself to feel sorry for Jinah especially since she caused the werewolves to be targeted by the wendigos and she also got Sungjong to kill Nari.
I thought Biah is cute asking what y time is.

Chapter 7: I actually thought Taemin would die from the chapter before but it turns out to be someone else that died.
I feel the Wendigo group are the most interesting because I only heard of Wendigos from a game called "Until Dawn" and they were terrifying in there.
I feel bad for Jangmun who is unable to handle the Wendigo lifestyle and that he even resorted to killing just to make sure Namjoon doesn't know about it.

Chapter 2: One of my first thoughts after reading this is the story reminds me of "The Hunger Games" in a magical realm setting.
I like the part near the end when King R.O.P. is losing his patience trying to explain the purpose for what all of them will have to do in the game.

Chapter 27: Out of everyone it's shocking to see Hoya win but at the same time it's good. He lost his wife and best friend so he knows better than anyone what it's like to lose a precious one. You want a broken king because then he will be able to connect with his people on a more humane level. Great story overall I hope to see similar concepts from you author-nim in the near future

Chapter 27: OMG IT'S THE END /UGLEY SOBS. Anywayss I'm really super satisfied with the ending... It's about as idealistic as I can imagine, but eh I guess we need some hope in our lives after all the terror we went through with Namjoon LOL. It's nice that despite losing his wife and literally all of his other friends, Hoya still remains as positive as ever. Also, I like how he went from being Yoongi's bodyguard to... the actual King LOL. ALL HAIL LEE HOYAAA

What made this so satisfying to see is that idk, he finally got over the fact that 'Biah' wasn't actually Biah; 'Biah' was just Namjoon's puppet, and he remembered that at the end instead of letting his feelings control him. Which I'm sure if Biah sees this in heaven, she would be very proud of him as well. ; u ; Also seriously Namjoon, how many girls are you gonna play until the end of your life?? Lol. I guess he died in a way very befitting for the main antagonist of this story. Until the end, he never gave up. I mean, he did look kinda pathetic clinging on to literally everything, but he has been a very formidable opponent. So after he's finally beaten, I feel like everyone will be like 'WOW THAT JERK IS FINALLY GONE AFTER 9999 YEARS' and frankly speaking, I feel kinda relieved too xD Also it's soo heartwarming to see the almost dying Chiyeon, Heejin, Baekhyun, Bacon and heck even R.O.P coming together to defeat Namjoon. Even if Baekhyun died, I think his death is a happy conclusion. /sobs. Look at how much Baekhyun has grown from being the nonsense kid everyone laughs at in Chapter 1 to the hero of the day now... SO PROUD OF YOU BAEKHYUNNN

Anyway, I think you did a really good job despite the impromptuness- I mean sure yeah some parts are messy but I bet if I was the one writing this story, I would be flipping tables and chairs lol. Bittersweet that this story has ended, but at least this kinda regains my hope in humanity again seeing how much the characters have grown *^*
