Why was a relationship among different races forbidden?
Because a hybrid child bore more strength compared to others. Every race was strong and unique on their own, but being a combination of two, they’d be even stronger.
“I can’t believe it. He was a werewolf all along,” Hoseok uttered under his breath, looking at the transformed werewolf in front of them.
“I don’t think he knew,” Baekhyun muttered. Hoya did not even understand why hybrid babies were considered taboo. There was no way he had known and decided to keep it a secret, not after everything they had been through.
“But why did he change?” Chiyeon asked, watching the werewolf lowering its head to stare at Jihye.
“Because his emotions were triggered,” Heejin answered, proving her expertise in an array of different taboo subject. “Something Namjoon said must’ve triggered him to unleash his other side.”
They remained silent after that, knowing Biah was the reason for his transformation.
Jihye still looked on in amazement, admiring Hoya’s new form. She could feel the strong energy level oozing from him, and she wanted it to become a part of her.
The werewolf himself was confused, staring at his own hands with disbelief. He turned his arm, staring at it from different directions to find a part of him he could recognize. But everything was unfamiliar and new.
“Hoya, I would like to extend the same offer to you,” Jihye interrupted him, walking to the wolf. She tilted her head up to meet his eyes, and smiled. “How would you like to join me?”
He could not comprehend how Jihye, or Namjoon, had the audacity to pose such a question. His outer appearance may have changed, but Hoya bore the same principles and mindset as he did in his human form. Yeonji had sacrificed herself to stop Namjoon from obtaining her power—there was no way he wouldn’t honor her sacrifice. If a similar situation should arise, he would’ve followed in her footsteps.
“I would much rather destroy you,” Hoya answered. His eyes, a sunny glimmer of gold, widened in surprise. His voice underwent a change to sound beastlier. His statement sounded like a vicious growl, and he wondered whether the other would understand.
“Hm, how amusing. You are no different from the goblin,” Jihye spoke, her lips continuing to curve into a friendly smile. Then, for a split second, she revealed the malice behind the sweet facade. “However, I will ensure no one gets to kill you. I will need your soul, alive.”
Hoya flinched, knowing they couldn’t use their same old tricks. He couldn’t take his own life, and the others were restricted from reaching him. A sudden barricade formed between them, sending his friends flying backwards against the wall through an unspeakable force.
“My dear minions,” Jihye began, the Roman numbers gleaming on her forehead. “Kill off the ones without the mark of loyalty.”
Biah got ready to set off as well. Out of habit, Hoya grabbed her tiny wrist in his big claws. The difference shocked him.
The girl looked at their hands, twitching her eyes a little, then she stared at the werewolf with a look of repulsion. It did not befit Biah’s sweet and innocent face. “What? Will you try to stop me, Ho oppa?” She asked with a sugary tone.
Hoya opened his jaw, but found the words trapped in his throat. The grip around her hand loosened, and he let her go. She may not be the Biah he used to know, but she was still Lee Biah. He couldn’t hurt her.
In the midst of his dilemma, Jihye took the opportunity to land a punch against his face. She chuckled in excitement when the small blow drew out blood from his mouth.
“I like this body. Jihye’s very strong,” she commented, reminding everyone once again that Namjoon had overtaken her body.
“Is Jihye’s soul still in there?” Hoya asked, wiping the bloody trail from his light grey fur.
“She has granted me permission to use her body, or else the soul switching wouldn’t have worked,” Jihye said, generously providing the answer to his question.
“Soul switching?” Heejin asked, listening to the conversation. The barriers kept them away physically, but did not block any sound. Her face blanched out at the statement.
“Basically, Jihye’s soul was switched into my original body at the very last minute. Considering that body was destroyed, so was Jihye’s soul.”
Heejin gasped, putting her hand to cover . Her assumptions was an understatement to the foul sorcery applied. Namjoon wasn’t soul hopping, but soul switching. And for the reason he spoke of, it was a dark magic far scarier than merely hopping. He had killed another player.
“Well, enough chit-chat. I am a little impatient knowing that you’ll be mine soon,” Jihye said, smiling sweetly at the werewolf in a way like Namjoon would. She lifted her hand, gently balding them into a fist.
The two waited, but nothing happened.
Hoya felt a small twitch upon his arm, like something heavy was about to push him down. But the moment it hit his body, it casted away.
Jihye’s playful smile had shaped into a murderous glare. “D-Don’t you feel anything?” She asked, crooking into a weirdly shaped arch.
“Not
