“Afximeno!”
Yeonji squinted her eyes and pursed her lips. Her hold on the pestle tightened, crushing the red flower petals with impeccable strength.
“Afximonee!”
Her movement quickened to the point one would feel sorry for the flower petals. It crushed together well enough to form some kind of red colored paste by now.
“Af… Ximonay?”
That was it. Yeonji smashed the pestle against the table, turning around to the sound of the noise pollution,Byun Baekhyun.
“It’s afximeni, you idiot!” She shouted, nearly throwing the stone pestle at him if it were still in her hand.
Baekhyun had the most confused look on his face, looking back and forth between Yeonji and Bacon. “I was so close,” he declared proudly, giving her his thumbs up.
“Being close isn’t going to transform Bacon to his true form,” Yeonji rolled her eyes. “Remember, the afximeni spell is to release the restriction I have put on Bacon. He can’t grow unless the spell is released. It requires a lot of strength, so you may feel fatigue afterwards.”
Bacon made a small noise, curling into a ball on the grass. It stared at Baekhyun with its large eyes, bored at the goblin’s hopeless attempts. This wouldn’t work.
“I thought the spell only worked if you have magical power,” Jihye commented, her head propped against her hands. She sat on a nearby log with Hoya by her side, watching as Yeonji was busy cooking something, she assumed. Baekhyun was trying to train Bacon, but failed miserably so far.
“Things are a little different with mythical creatures. A force more powerful than magic itself is the bond of trust between the creature and the spellcaster. As long as Bacon trusts you, he will allow you to release the spell from him,” Yeonji tried explaining in the most simplest way possible. Something was strange, however. Jihye never made any eye contact even after she had addressed the question.
“That’s great! You trust me, right Bacon?” Baekhyun shouted excitedly.
Bacon huffed, a white mist appearing from its little nostrils. Then a small pop sound followed. Bacon flew away, leaving a present behind for the useless goblin.
“Oh my God! It pooped!” Baekhyun yelled noisily, looking utterly horrified and offended.
Jihye laughed out loud, catching the slightest hint of a smile appearing on Hoya’s face as well. After discovering Biah and Yoongi’s death, he has been sombre and silent all day. Today was slightly different, at least.
“So what exactly are we doing?” Jihye finally questioned, staring mainly at Hoya.
“We’re trusting a wendigo,” Hoya simply answered with a forced smile. Yeonji’s body stiffened too, which he understood for good reasons. “He promised to help us kill Namjoon. And if he is lying, we’ll kill him along.”
Jihye’s eyebrows arched, trying her best to follow their plan. Clearly she was missing out on something.
“Supposedly, Namjoon is the baddest guy out here who plans on kingdom domination,” Baekhyun added, linking his hands behind his head. “That is what the entire Code 11-23 is all about, I guess.”
“Code 11-23?” Jihye repeated, widening her golden eyes.
Yeonji stayed quiet, wondering why they easily provided all the information to the wolf girl. Something was odd with her and the way she refused to make eye contact.
“Do you perhaps know something about the code?” She questioned, directing the question at the wolf who flinched a little. Again, she looked away from Yeonji.
“W-wouldn’t have a clue,” Jihye stammered, boring her sight towards
