When Taehyung arrived, Jimin had already started looking up all the Taemin’s in the area trying to find the one he’d crashed into but wasn’t having much luck. Who knew there would be over five hundred matches? As soon as Taehyung was situated in Jimin’s room, he asked for all the physical features that Jimin could remember.

“Um he had amber eyes and black hair, he was slightly taller than me, like Yoongi’s height maybe. He had two piercings on both ears and was wearing silver earrings and…. Um I can’t remember much else, it was a really brief meeting,” Jimin answered.

“Well, we’ll just have to work with the hair color and eye color then… I really hope he used his face for his profile picture and not something else,” Taehyung said as he began scrolling through his phone.

“His face was too handsome not to use as a profile picture,” Jimin commented offhandedly not even realizing he had said it until Taehyung started laughing.

“I can’t believe you said that! Are you already whipped for him?”

“Well… he is my soulmate… so maybe?”

“That’s cute!” Taehyung squealed and then the two returned to the task at hand. Jimin went through what felt like hundreds of profiles on his phone while Taehyung did the same on his and occasionally asked if one was a match since the features Jimin had described would be the same. However, they didn’t find it for well over twenty minutes.

“What about these?” Taehyung asked for the tenth time, showing Jimin his phone which had three profiles pulled up. Jimin glanced over them and then his eyes widened.

“That one!” Jimin said pointing to the second profile.

“Oh?” Taehyung said taking his phone back to look at the picture more closely as Jimin scooted closer to make sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him.

“Hmm… he’s pretty handsome. I approve,” Taehyung said smiling as Jimin laughed.

“Thanks, I guess?” Jimin responded taking the phone away from Taehyung and clicking on the profile to go through the posts.

“Are you going to follow him?” Taehyung asked.

“Course not. That would be weird. He’d think I’m a stalker!”

“Well aren’t you? You just went through a hundred profiles to find him.”

“Yea, but he doesn’t need to know that! Also, it’s only cause I have this gift and know he’s my soulmate. I’m justified in doing this,” Jimin protested lightheartedly, causing Taehyung to laugh.

“Yea, yea, you’re right,” Taehyung said and then sighed before continuing “… but honestly, I thought your soulmate would be Jungkook.”

“Jungkook?” Jimin questioned, “Why him?”

“Well… the white string. You said it turned red at some point and it turns blue often enough… I don’t know, something about the fact it can change makes it seem really special. Jungkook is bound to be someone special to you and so I just thought what’s more special than a soulmate?”

“But it never turned a solid red.”

“I know, but red doesn’t really mean soulmate does it? You said it was just love for a significant other when you first told me about it.”

“Well… I mean yea, but I said that cause there are people out there who don’t stay with the person who’s got the red string… they always get married but some of them get divorced and marry others later in life… but even then the string doesn’t always turn gray… most of the time it retains its red color and it’s obvious those two still have lingering feelings for each other no matter what they say, it’s why they tend to avoid each other like my Aunt Jiyeon and Uncle Inho…”

“Yea I remember you talking about that… and that’s why you can’t really call it a soulmate bond if they were fated to be together, they’d stay together no matter what. Somehow they’d be reunited, but they weren't.”

“But they are meant to be together… they still have feelings for each other so isn’t that enough to say it’s a soulmate bond?” Jimin challenged, still thinking the red string was basically a soulmate bond.

“I mean yeah… but I think your white string might be different. I think that one will last through anything. Like absolutely nothing could split you two apart. That’s why I’m saying its a soulmate bond,” Taehyung responded.

Jimin bit his bottom lip and thought about it, he could see Taehyung’s point but red had always been the string for love and Jimin was 100% sure two strings didn’t have the same meaning. So white had to mean something else.

“But red is related to love, how can white be the same? No two strings have the same meaning,” Jimin insisted.

“Soulmates doesn’t really mean love all the time,” Taehyung argued.

“So you don’t mean soulmate in the sense we’re bound to love each other for eternity, but rather we’ll always be a part of each other’s lives?” Jimin asked.

“Yea I suppose…” Taehyung replied with a shrug.

“But then what about the dark blue strings? I call those the platonic soulmate strings. If he was my soulmate shouldn’t he have had a dark blue string?”

“Well... to be honest, I did think you and Jungkook would fall in love eventually since you did say the string turned red at one point.”

“But you just said it didn’t have to be romantic soulmates!” Jimin yelled in frustration.

“But it still could be!” Taehyung continued to argue.

“Tae, I just met the guy who had a red string attaching our hearts together, how can you still tell me you think Jungkook is meant for me? Are you trying to tell me I shouldn’t have a relationship with Taemin? Are you telling me to let this string become gray?” Jimin asked with an accusing tone to his voice.

“No, of course not! I just… I don’t know ok?
