Chapter Four
misunderstandings and disagreements
"Alright, let's go over how we've split up the workload for prom," Ms. Ahn spoke loud and clearly. "We all agreed last time that Joori was best suited to be in charge of decoration, just a reminder though, everyone has to help Joori with decorations. It's too big of a job to do alone!" Joori sheepishly looked down when several pairs of eyes made their way to her direction. Ms. Ahn wasn't exaggerating though, Joori was the best suited for decoration. "Any heavy lifting is to be done in groups of two or three, unless you are as strong as Yuto." Some of the committee giggled at the statement, though it wasn't a lie, Yuto was the strongest person in the committee. At least, that's what they all thought anyways. "What we really need to discuss is our music and food situation," Ms. Ahn sighed, knowing this part of the porm was going to be difficult to manage due their budget. "We don't have too much money to blow on either of these so if anyone has any cheap alternatives, then please speak now." Everyone was mostly silent, the majority thinking of alternative and cheaper ways to take care of their food and music problem. "Well, Sungmi is the best cook at Joongdong, why don't we have her cook some of the food?" Jiae suggested with a bright smile, being a lover of Sungmi's baked goods herself. Sungmi remained silent but did smile at Jiae's suggestion, mostly because she knew Jiae was one of her biggest fans. "I'm not sure she's that qualified, I mean just because she is in the cooking club doesn't mean she's some sort of Gordon Ramsey." Mari countered almost immediately, earning a glare from both Sungmi and Taeyong. "I'm afraid we don't have any choice Mari, Sungmi will you help out with any baked goods for prom?" Ms. Ahn stepped in almost instantly, not wanting the kids to fight, again. "It would be my pleasure." Sungmi continued to glare at Mari, who glared right back at her. "Now that food seems to be solved, what about music, any suggestions?" There was silence once again, everyone thinking of a solution to their last problem. "What if some of us perform at the prom instead of hiring a DJ for the entire night? Like, we can hire a DJ for the first hour or so of prom then the rest of the evening can be performances by us and other students." Myungjun suggested, causing everyone to look at him. "Good idea, but do any of you want to volunteer to perform?" Ms. Ahn looked at the students in front of her, not seeing anyone really jumping at the chance. "I'll perform, but I'll need some help of course." Myungjun spoke up, moving his gaze from Ms. Ahn to Sumin. Everyone had looks of shock. Myungjun wanted help from Sumin? "Okay, I'll perform with you." Sumin spoke up, feeling a bit of pressure now. If everyone had looked shocked before, they looked completely blown away now. "Okay, well, I guess music is taken care of then. Myungjun, just make sure you can find other students to perform alright? Remember that they must do it for free, this is volunteer work!" Ms. Ahn quickly stated as she crossed off both music and food from her list of concerns. "Alright, you are all free to work on the prom now." Everyone got up off the floor that had previously been sitting and immediately got to work.
While everyone worked on their own respective jobs, Joori worked on painting a mock "Mona Lisa" painting for the Victorian Era corner of the prom. For the sake of the prom theme, there was going to be four main eras that would be focused on for the "time slip" theme. The first corner was Victorian Era, otherwise known as the late 1800s and early 1900s. This corner was filled to the brim with anything that looked very old and Victorian-like in anyway, hence why Joori was making the Mona Lisa painting, well the mock version of it anyways. The second corner was the Roaring Twenties, otherwise known as the 1920s and 1930s inspired corner. This corner was mostly consisted of the colors black and white, as well as anything relating to Jazz and any American mobsters which led to the corner having references to "gambling" and poker. The third corner was the Hippy Era, otherwise known as the 1960s-1970s. This corner had a lot of references to peace and happiness, literally having anything related to the word "groovy" and of course, overkill on how many peace signs the committee students could include. The last and final corner was Post-Modern, which essentially meant the 1980s to the early 2000s. In this final corner, there was references to early idol groups as well as items relating to the styles and fashions people exhibited back then. Joori smiled as she finished painting on Mona Lisa's mouth, who ironically wasn't smiling at all. "Hey," A voice spoke up, interrupting Joori's focus on the painting. Joori turned and faced the person who was speaking to her, suprised to be looking into the eyes of Go Mari. "Hwang Joori?" She questioned, checking to see if she had the right person. "Y-yes, that would be me.." Joori stuttered uncomfortable, knowing how popular and rich Mari was. "Glad I found you because I have an offer for you," Mari spoke immediately as she took a seat next to Joori. Joori peered nervously over at the girl. Just what did Go Mari want with her? "Me and you are in similar situation, you see, we both have a similar enemy of sorts. I know Kim Chungha has been bullying you." Joori looked over at Mari in shock, suprised that she had found out about it so fast. Though Chungha and Joori both tried to keep the bullying on the down low, Mari still managed to found out about it. "If you help me get Prom Queen, I'll help you get rid of Chungha. I know she's standing in the way between you
