Chapter Ten

the final countdown

It was finally Saturday, the day of prom. All of the committee members were spending their entire morning and part of their afternoon at the event hall, hoping to make some finishing touches on the decorations for the big day. "Thanks for coming to help out, Eunwoo." Rhea smiled, glad that her best friend was there to help her out when things seemed super hectic. "It's no problem, I'm always here for you." Eunwoo said with his usual charming smile, the one that was currently making Yuto gag inside. He was also helping out alongside Rhea and he didn't really like that Eunwoo had to be here too. It wasn't like he thought Eunwoo was a bad guy or anything, no, it was quite the opposite. He knew how great of a guy Eunwoo was, which made Yuto feel insecure, considering his track record of breaking Rhea's heart in the past. He couldn't help but wonder if Rhea had truly moved on and if it was to Eunwoo, the definition of Mr. Perfect. "So are you grouping with Sana and Bin to go to prom?" Rhea asked, wondering who Eunwoo would be going to prom with. "I'm not too sure, I might go alone or see if anyone needs a last minute date." He said with a thoughtful smile. Though it was just a simple response to Rhea's question, it made so many questions race through Yuto's head. Was that Eunwoo's way of hinting he was going to ask Rhea, who was currently dateless? He really hoped that wasn't it and that it was just a thoughtless statement from Joongdong's resident flower boy. "I'm sure you'll figure something out." Rhea smiled back, toying with the ring necklace around her neck, the one she always wore. She peered over at Yuto, who had been staring daggers at Eunwoo only to stop once he realized that Rhea had got him staring. Rhea wondered what was wrong but then she also noticed Jiae looked quite distressed too. She was working by herself, refusing help from anyone and everyone, with a stormy expression on her face. Rhea wondered if maybe Jiae was just stressed about prom, that was probably just it. "Alright everyone," Ms. Ahn spoke loudly, grabbing everyone's attention in the room. "Looks like everything is finished so I want you all to leave and get ready for the dance. It starts at 9 o' clock but I would like it if you all could try to arrive about twenty minutes early, alright?" Everyone replied with a "yes" in unison, before getting up to leave the event hall. Eunwoo followed Rhea out of the gym while Yuto picked up her necklace off the ground, it having fallen off just as she stood up. Catching up with the other two, the three began to walk home together.

Throughout the entire walk, Rhea can't help but wonder if her wish will come true. Her wish being that Yuto will ask her to the dance even though it is today. It wasn't long until they had reached Rhea's home, much to her displeasure. "Well, I will see you two at the dance."
