Chapter Eleven
true love can survive it all
"Jiae isn't coming because her and Mingyu broke up today. I thought she would have told you all about it by now." The answer to Jiae's absence was truly surprising to everyone in the committee. Though there were no stereotypical gasps of surprise, everyone was silent from shock. "I never imagined she would actually break up with him..." Sungmi mumbled out of suprise, having known about their problems for a while now. Everyone was frozen in place, not knowing what they should be doing. "What are you waiting for? Go get your girl, Boss." Sumin was the first to speak up, giving Hongseok encouraging words. It had been obvious for a while now that Hongseok kind of had a thing for Jiae, though he never acted on it because she was taken after all. Clenching his fist, Hongseok takes off, out of the event hall. "Hey, wait!" Inha calls after him, seeing how angry Hongseok looked. Joori, Rhea, Yuto, and Changgu immediately follow after him, hoping to catch up before he does anything on his own. Sungmi stood by the doors as Taeyong looked back at Sumin, Myungjun, Mari, and Mark. "Are you guys staying here?" Taeyong asked, wondering what they were going to do. Myungjun glanced over at Sumin who nodded her head at him. "The show must go on." Myungjun grinned causing Taeyong to scoff a bit. "We got things here, go catch up with the others." Mari spoke up next, smiling as she looked over at Mark. Taeyong nodded and ran over to Sungmi, who had been pouting the entire time. They made their way towards sounds of commotion, only to find a bloody and confused Mingyu and Hongseok being held back by Yuto and Changgu. "Why are you hitting him?!" Inha exclaimed, angry herself now as she tried to help Mingyu up. "Why did he break up with her? It's his fault she's not here!" Hongseok yelled back, fuming in anger. "Jiae broke up with Mingyu, not the other way around!" Inha stated, revealing a bit of what had happened. Everyone was shocked again, realizing that it had been Jiae who did the breaking up, not the being the one who got broken up with. "Sorry," Hongseok quickly apologized before turning his attention to Changgu. "I need you to take me to Jiae's, please." Changgu merely nodded in agreement as they hurried towards the exit, walking past a very confused Ms. Ahn. "We're coming too!" Joori spoke up for herself, Yuto, Rhea, Taeyong, and Sungmi. "Uh, Sungmi and Taeyong are going to have to drive themselves because I can only fit three more people!" Changgu stated, knowing that he wouldn't be able to fit all five people in the backseat of his car. "We'll make it work." Yuto spoke up, lifting Rhea up and before getting in Changgu's car, placing her on his lap. Taeyong did the same, only difference was that Sungmi sat down on her own accord. Joori slid in next to the two couples as Changgu sighed, wishing he could have something like that himself. "Alright everyone, hold on. Next stop, Jiae!" He announced as he quickly left the school parking lot to head towards the missing prom queen candidate's home.
It didn't take Changgu long to make it to Jiae's place. Hongseok practically jumped out of the car once it had been parked and ran over to her front door, ringing the door bell. Suddenly the door was opened revealing Jiae, still in her school uniform. Her eyes were puffy and red, probably due to the hard break up she had to do. Before Jiae could question why Hongseok was at her door, he immediately wrapped his arms around the girl. Unable to control her feelings, Jiae immediately begins to cry again. "Why didn't you come to the prom? We could have hung out together!" Sungmi stated with a frown, sad to see her friend so upset. "I was too embarrassed to go alone.." Jiae mumbled, as she had been afraid of what people would say about her if she had shown up alone. "Well you won't be alone," Hongseok stated as he pulled himself out of Jiae's embrace. "I'm going to be your date." Suddenly, Hongseok's lips were on Jiae's, much to the happiness and disgust of the onlookers around them. "Ahem," Joori interrupted, feeling awkward from watching them kiss. "She is not going to go to prom looking like that. Let's go get you ready." Jiae was then whisked away by Joori, Sungmi, and Rhea, who all rushed her upstairs to put her in her dress before doing her hair and makeup as well. After about thirty minutes go by, the four girls reappear with Jiae looking more like a prom queen now. "Wait! I need to take pictures!" A voice suddenly called, causing everyone to turn and look. It was Jiae's father, holding a big DSLR camera in his hands. Hongseok and Jiae obeyed the request, walking to the center of the living room to take pictures. Everyone stood and waited on the sidelines, watching the two get their pictures taken. "Joori," Changgu spoke up as he gently took a hold of her wrist. "Can we please talk, outside?" Joori was hesitant but ended up nodding in agr
