ExistenceA cloud lazily rolled past them in the sky.
“You know… sometimes, I feel like I’ve met you before.” Then, for good measure, he added, “Not to be cheesy or anything.” Woohyun awkwardly fixed his bangs, even though there was nothing to fix. He just felt… awkward.
There was something about the older boy that made Woohyun believe that he could always count on him and trust him, even though they’ve only known each other for a short amount of time. Woohyun had gone through life, making friends left and right, but he hadn’t really connected with most if any of them in such a close and intimate manner as he had with Sunggyu. There was something about him that allowed him to speak about anything and everything to the boy who was older by a couple of months.
He knew almost everything about him. Obviously, there were some things Woohyun wasn't sure he should tell the new boy in town yet. Like how she made his heart palpitate like no tomorrow and how just thinking of her put a big, stupid grin on his face. Woohyun had a feeling that the boy probably already knew because he was observant, but Woohyun wasn't ready to talk about it yet. After all, no one really noticed or bothered to confront him about his feelings for her.
There was also a mature air about Sunggyu; almost as if he’d seen much with his very eyes in the past decade or so he’d been alive. He’d never been one to pull pranks or help with planning in their little group of friends and opted to just laze around the background, observing everyone. Woohyun’s other male friends had mentioned to him before that they thought Sunggyu was rather strange because he didn’t speak much unless he was spoken directly to. Woohyun, however, wrote them off, deciding that Sunggyu was just awkward around other people and didn’t get comfortable around people easily, if at all. Sunggyu, even with him, never had much to say. Woohyun liked to think that he was close to the new boy in town.
“Oh really?” Sunggyu asked, his tone suggesting that he was very amused by the notion, but his heart was pounding in his chest, thinking that the impossible had happened. Woohyun remembers again, perhaps? But that would be impossible. Definitely hopeless. It was almost certain that Woohyun would never remember what had happened in the past life and the ones before that one.
“Yea,” Woohyun agreed, rolling over to look at Sunggyu that was laying on the grass beside him, careful to shift his position slightly so that he would be a bit more comfortable. His arm was folded right underneath his head. Sunggyu turned his head a little to look at him in the eyes. He could get lost in them if he wanted to because they reminded him of what transpired the lifetimes before.
It was one of their lazy days. They were supposed to go to the ice cream parlor together to hang out but they mutually decided that they were too broke to afford ice cream and decided to do a cheaper alternative. Sunggyu didn’t want to ask his mother for more allowance for the month (and the month was pretty much over anyway) and Woohyun… well he was always out and about in the town and he wasn’t exactly the most financially-wise person Sunggyu knew.
“Is it weird to say that even though I’ve only known you for 6 months…” he trails off. Then he finds his voice again, “It feels like I’ve known you my whole life?” He awkwardly laughed, unsure of what he said may have made the older boy think he was strange.
No. Because we knew each other in the last few.
There was no answer from Sunggyu’s end. Woohyun was very close to just laughing again to fill the silence and brush off his question as one of his random musings (something he found himself doing sometimes, when he suddenly poses a random and deep question to his friends while talking) when the older boy replied (to Woohyun's delight).
“Maybe,” Sunggyu heard himself say, a small, cryptic smile on his face. Woohyun didn’t know how to decipher it, but he had learned that Sunggyu was a mysterious person and even if he asked about why Sunggyu seemed to be so far off even though he was physically there, he was sure that he would be given a cryptic answer.
Woohyun also had a weird feeling about their conversation… almost as if th
