Flower Boys and their Roses

“Tonight get ready for a season of the probably most controversial program in South Korea that people have ever seen before.“

The show starts with the announcement and a picture of seven handsome young men smiling in each’s very own way of charming while holding up a rose into the camera. 

“Seven young men are on the search for love, taking 21 young women with them on their journey to happiness.“ The picture of the bachelors is replaced by numerous clips of scenes that are waiting for the audience to be seen. Clips that show a helicopter landing somewhere, a short glance at Vegas or girls freaking out during a cooking challenge. 

“What we are looking for… is real love. Love that we couldn’t find until now and which will hopefully change.“, the voice of one of the bachelors comments on more scenes being played. Girls playing at the beach, one of the bachelors sitting in a restaurant with one of the contestants, even a catwalk that looks a lot as if it was one in Paris. 

“But not all of them are really looking for love - the bachelors who really look for love AND to top it all are billionaires are called hidden cards and it’s the contestants’ job to find out who of them is really there for love and who is only there to play tricks on them. The journey starts right now… here on Bachelors’ Paradise.“

The first scene starts with a close up interview of one of the guys. His bleached hair looks pretty much on fleek while he is giving the audience an adorable smile before he opens his mouth and what comes out of it is some really strange noise that reminds a lot of an alien. There is a short cut showing how the bachelor is laughing before another one is played in which he clears his throat and finally introduces himself. 

“Hi everyone, my name is Kim Taehyung and I came from the stars.“ He shortly wiggles his eyebrows before he is told off by the camera guy and he laughs again. The interview sequence fades into some impressions of his hometown Daegu. “People might wonder who I am. But I am sure a lot do know me.“, Taehyung says while clips of him playing the saxophone are shown. “I am a Jazz musician and I played everywhere in the world.“ The interview comes up again. “Which place I liked the most? New Orleans was the best.“ He smiles brightly and gives two thumbs up. “I am looking for a girl to travel the world with.“

Taehyung is soon replaced by another guy who first of all starts laughing with a shy eye-smile and quickly covers his mouth. There is a cut and the bachelor is shown again with waving into the camera. “Can we start again? That was an awful start.“ This bachelor has clips of Busan shown, followed by him being recorded topless doing pull-ups. “Hi, my name is Park Jimin and I am a professional personal trainer.“ The next clips are Jimin walking down a road with a cup of coffee and one in which he is sitting on a bench observing couples. “I am ready for love. I am ready to give my all in this and hopefully I will finally find my soulmate in this show.“ Again he is showed laughing and covering his mouth. “Is it bad to look for a girl that stays by my side no matter what?“

The music and with it the whole atmosphere changes as the next bachelor is introduced. It is a guy with light silver hair that shines even in the dark studio that the interview is recorded in. The bachelor looks skeptically into the camera, looking not really friendly until his serious expression breaks and a smug smirk shows on his lips. “My name is Min Yoongi and I am a producer and songwriter.“, he introduces himself and his words are underlined  by scenes showing some big entertainment buildings in Seoul and then him being shown in one of the studios, in front of him a person being recorded. However the face of the person is not shown to the audience. “I… was heartbroken for a long time. But… I finally started opening up for people again, so I hope that I can find someone who won’t hurt me again.“
 

“Hello~ my name is Kim Seokjin and I am a fashion designer.“ The next bachelor comes up quickly with scenes of a fashion week being shown with him standing at the top of the catwalk with one of his models accompanying him while he is thanking the audience for attending his fashion show. “I am not even sure why I agreed to join this show… probably because I’ve been lonely for so long. I think if you work all day it’s really difficult to find someone you can bond with even when you’re surrounded by beautiful people the entire time.“ The interview section of him shows him smiling warmly into the camera. “So everyone in front of the TV wish me lots of luck to finally find a girlfriend. I don’t want to be another forever alone!“ He suddenly starts laughing full-out.

Bachelor five comes up next. It’s a bleached guy again, whereas the blonde fades smoothly into the dark roots. “Yo everybody, my name is Kim Namjoon.“, he speaks into the camera and gestures with his hands while his eyes are covered by sunglasses. He walks into a building that reminds a lot of the studios which Yoongi was shown at. “I am a rapper and people know me by the name of RapMonster.“ The interview section is shown with Namjoon not having his sunglasses on. “The Underground scene is consisting of 90% guys, maybe even more. If you find a decent girl there, it’s like hitting the jackpot. I am looking for my jackpot now. I hope that there are girls I can consider as that.“, he explains and laughs slightly. “Was that too cheesy?“

Suddenly a bunch of kids are shown who all excitedly shout out in a choir. “Please find our Hoseok-ssaem a nice wife!“ The camera shifts over to said person who is a guy with a big, gummy smile, excitedly watching the kids that don’t look older than 8. “My name is Jung Hoseok and I teach dancing to kids.“, he says in his interview and still has his gummy smile on. “Kids are fabulous, aren’t they? One day I want to have a dozen kids, too!“ The next clip shows Hoseok during the photo shoot for the show where he poses in a suit with a rose in his hands. “I never managed to find someone who loved me for who I am. Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone who can accept all your flaws and even appreciates them? I wish I had someone like that.“ He smiles a last time before the final bachelor is revealed. And he is revealed with a giant BOOM. And a song of him suddenly playing.

“Hi, my name is Jeon Jungkook and I am the International Playboy.“ Jungkook winks into the camera before a clip of his recent opening act at the 2016 MBC Gayo concert is played. Again Jungkook is shown during the interview, laughing into the camera. “Okay, no I am kidding.“ He ruffles through his hair and goes on talking while different clips of his live stages are shown. “I never had a girlfriend. And I never managed to get to know any girl closer. Thank you BigHit Entertainment.“ Again he laughs. “Yeah… I don’t know if there is a girl who’d even date me since my fans might not be happy about knowing that I am dating and that could scare potential girlfriends away. But everyone has the right to love, don’t they? I want to fall in love. I’ve been lonesome my entire life, so I will change that now.“

After the introductions are all through, the bachelors are shown all together sitting in the living room of the actual mansion the show will be recorded at, having a chit-chat. They all look pretty comfortable and chilled on the couches. Namjoon is the first to talk.

“So how do you feel about the show? Today is the big day after all.“, he says, rubbing his hands and leaving out a nervous sounding chuckle. 

“I am actually pretty excited. I must admit that I didn’t think this would really happen. But it does.“, Jungkook answers. He is halfway lying over the whole corner of the couch, making himself pretty much feel home. 

“Do you think you could find love?“, Namjoon then asks.

“The better question is if we can still leave the house after the show is done. I am partly more concerned about how Korea sees us after this. My mother already scolded me for being here.“, Yoongi joins the conversation and all the bachelors start to laugh.

“So you’re scared that people will hate you after this?“, Seokjin asks and stops his hyena-like laugh for a short moment. 

“Ohhh la la, I think this hyung over here is planning on taking girls with him for some private time!“, Jimin jokes and again everyone starts laughing - except for Yoongi who shoots death stares at the personal trainer.

Hoseok suddenly gets up from his seat and raises his glass. “As long as we stay real and show the girls who we really are, what stands in the way to be liked by Korea and find the love of our lives?“, he asks and then toasts. “May our sons have rich fathers and beautiful mothers!“

“Here’s to those who’ll see us at our best and see us at our worst and still can’t tell the difference!“, Namjoon joins in.

“And that we all stay ourselves, no matter what - except for Taehyung!“, Jimin says and chuckles with Taehyung looking back at him while giving a weird noise from him, making an angry face. He somehow reminds of an angry alien complaining in a cackling way.

In front of the bachelor mansion, which looks just awesome with all the lights gracing the whole building, another handsome face beams into the camera. It’s Seo Inguk, using all his charms to entertain the viewers.

“Welcome to the very first season of Bachelors’ Paradise. Our seven bachelors all are looking for someone to bond with, questioning if they will ever be able to find true love in the giant see of beautiful girls who are just waiting to find their Prince Charming. A group of accomplished, interesting women from all over South Korea are dying to compete for our bachelors’ hearts!“ Inguk smiles into the camera and winks before the scene changes.

“Hey, my name is Hana Liu, I am 21 years old and I am a model.“, the first contestant introduces herself. It’s a beautiful young women who smiles brightly into the camera. The long dark hair flows in perfectly styled, soft looking curls over her shoulders.  Her pretty face gets replaced by even prettier clips of her running different catwalks the next moment. And she looks gorgeous. The most impressing is the short snippet of her in lingerie, the signature wings of the Victoria Secret models gracing her back. “I want to find love honestly. It’s not the best time or moment right now, but I believe that if I don't start now it'll get harder for me to find love in the future.“ The focus jumps back to her interview. “I want to work on myself and become one of the best models out there. I feel like if the bachelor can support my dreams then our relationship will last a lifetime.“ 

The next contestant shown looks extremely different from Hana. It’s a woman that totally pulls off the tomboy look. Her platinum blonde pixie bob haircut being as striking as her cat-like eyes that are forming two crescents as she grins into the camera. "Hello, nice to meet you! I'm National Champion Yoon Minseo.“ For her the introduction clips show the young Taekwondo athlete during practice, during some former matches and finally her sitting in the gym. “I am 21 and currently on a hiatus from my Taekwondo career because of an accident. I though it was a good idea to try applying since, you know, busy schedule and all with training really doesn't leave much time to go out. “ She shrugs shortly, before the screen fades to black.

What comes up his a very pinkish looking room, a girl with glossy pink lips looking into the camera, trying to pose cutely. “I am Im Miso, you might know me by my channel name Misofabulous!“, she says and shoots love bullets. “I am 24 years old and a Make-up and Daily Life vBlogger. I'm single and I'm ready to mingle. I've been busy filming and just have not really given any guy a chance to date, so I just signed up for the heck of it. It's going to be fun.“ A collection of her YouTube videos is shown while she’s speaking, giving an impression of what an expressive and upbeat person she is. “I promise you, with me your show's rating will be high! ‘Cause you know, I'm ready to *censor tone*.“

After the upbeat introduction of Miso a rather tired looking contestant follows. It’s a young woman who looks a little older than she originally is. “Uh...hello. I'm Oh Yumi, I'm 21 years old and I have a 3 year old daughter…“ She speaks very hesitantly and avoids facing the camera directly, most of the time looking at the ground in awkwardness. Luckily some short videos of her and her daughter are shown to make her look less uncomfortable around the cameras. “I'm honestly not even sure if any guy would suddenly want to date me knowing I have a daughter. I'm not in a hurry to find her a father but I also don't want to waste anyone's time either if we are not seriously in a relationship.“

One more introduction clip is shown. And this one starts pretty similar to the one that the audience got to see from Jungkook. A short part of an actual music video is shown and then the face of Lee Jaemi, Butterfly’s maknae shows up. The girl bows, her idol looks being as stunning as her manners. “My name is Lee Jaemi. I am better known as Joey, the maknae and vocalist of rookie group Butterfly. Please take good care of me.“ Her words sound as if they are a result of years of training those lines and indeed she must have introduced herself plenty of times like this. "I didn't apply for this show by myself. I was sent by my company because our group just made  a comeback recently.“, she says while she giggles. “I am only 20 now, I have a lot to learn and my co-members believe that I have a lot of potential to be discovered.“ The girl is shown drawing a heart with her hands before she finishes her interview. “Thank you for having me here and please give Butterfly a lot of love.“

Those few interview sections are all that Bachelors’ Paradise show of the contestants before immediately switching to the setting in front of the Bachelors’ Mansion. Inguk is standing there like before but from each direction the 7 bachelors approach him, all of them dressed in the exact same suit. Their wine-red blazers are having an even more intense tone of red in the lighting of the garden in front of the mansion. And they are all carrying different expressions on their faces. Some of them are smiling, some of them have a flustered smirk on their lips while others just take it the cool way. 

“Gentlemen, good to see you!“, Inguk greets them. “How do you feel?“ His charming smile accompanies his words.

“I’d feel much better if people would stop constantly asking me how I feel.“, Yoongi answers, his indifferent expression turning a little more annoyed.

Inguk laughs it off. “So you at least know we all care!“

“It’s rather that you make me know you’re just curious enough to ask me.“, he responds.

The MC still laughs and shrugs. “Well, you know what to do. I will meet you later in the mansion.“

They all nod, some of them patting Inguk’s shoulder before disappearing into the house.

A bunch of limousines straight head to the mansion, one of them being filled with excited girls who are already talking about what’ll await them.

One of them is a girl with a dark bob haircut, she’s wearing a classic, the little black one and has a big smile gracing her lips. “So, who do you think we’ll meet today? Any ideas?“

“Whoever it is, they better be gorgeous!“, one of the faces that was already shown before answers. It’s Miso. And she looks stunning in her chick hot pink dress. A short laugh of hers is followed by her first guess. “But I guess there’ll be CEOs and maybe actors?“

Back to the front scene with Inguk waiting right at the doorstep of the mansion, the first limousine stops and the girl with the bob cut exits the car. As soon as she sees Inguk smiling at her, her jar drops and her eyes widen. She lets out a short squeak before she covers and rushes over to Inguk. 

“Welcome en la casa de l’amour.“, he tries hard to impress with foreign words that don’t sound as if correctly pronounced but he doesn’t lose his chic appearance. 

“Oh my god, hi!“, the young woman greets him and bows quickly. “I’m Ji Sunhee, thank you for having me!“, she speaks in excitement before she’s up again and has a giant smile on her face.

Inguk laughs and then shortly shakes his head. “I’m none of the bachelors.“ Sunhee’s expression drops again, showing surprise and confusion. “But you’ll meet them soon. Please enter the house.“

The next contestant is shown, a modest looking woman who looks professional in her long, clean cut dress. Her dark hair waves softly in the wind when she walks to Inguk, keeping the professional smile on her face even when she recognizes the actor. “Nice to meet you, my name is Bang Yeonhee.“, she introduces herself. 

“Nice to meet you, too.“, Inguk replies and smiles. “Tell me a little bit about yourself.“, he demands and Yeonhee doesn’t seem as if he caught her off guard.

“I am 24 years old and the CFO of Nam Corporation. I’m here to find love if I’m lucky enough.“, she answers very calmly and apparently she has a very pleasant voice to listen to. 

“Then good luck on your search for love. The bachelors will introduce themselves soon to you. Please enter the mansion.“, Inguk tells her and Yeonhee doesn’t loose her professionalism at all.

Shortly after Yeonhee disappears the next one follows. This time it’s a woman that looks daring. She’s on fire when she walks and she totally kills that y red dress with a cleavage that screams for attention. Her pitch-black hair compliments her red lips and she smiles seductively at Inguk, greeting him with a line that makes him chuckle.

“Hey, Mister Handsome.“ Inguk looks positively surprised by her but the very next moment she adds to it. “But you’re not a bachelor, right?“ This gets him taken aback for a second and he opens his mouth to ask where she knows it from but instead just brushes it off with a simple nod and again the charming signature smile is back. “Wow, I am impressed.“, he admits and chuckles again. “They’re waiting inside.“

The woman smiles shortly back at him. “Thank you.“, she says, winks and then leaves for the house. Inguk follows her with her eyes. 

“Wow…“, he mutters. “And I have no idea what her name is.“

Again the camera focus changes. Inside of the mansion the girls are already gathering. Some of them are in the kitchen, serving themselves with snacks that are prettily set up on a buffet table. The majority of the girls head outside, though, occupying the expensive looking outdoor furniture. The whole setting looks heavily romantic. The lights of the house are shown dancing on the surface of the pool while the girls are all having a chit chat waiting for others to arrive.

Minseo, who was like Miso already shown before, is standing next to the furniture set, her black leather pants and the plaid shirt she’s wearing looking heavily contrasting to the fancy cocktail dresses of the others. But the person next to her fits her style well with the black pants and black blouse, yet the woman looks a little more formal than the tomboy taekwondo athlete.

“I’ve never watched any of The Bachelor Franchise to be honest.“, she says in the interview section which reveals her name, age and occupation. Johanna, 22 and SNU student. “I don’t even know how I should approach anyone. But I’m here to try and give my best, ain’t I?“

The mansion gets fuller and fuller, the majority of girls settling down on the couches and nipping on their champagne glasses, some of them drinking bubbly orange juice which has one of them alarmed. A rather tan girl who quickly puts her glass aside and makes a disgusted face, heavily waving air to her tongue for a moment.

As a reaction to that another contestant is shown in the interview sections. Mihoon, 25, bartender. “Seriously… those kids are no competition.“, she says very calmly.

Everyone seems joyous until a certain contestant enters and the mood drops immediately for some of the girls. The moment Jaemi enters and smiles at the others, shortly greeting everyone before she tries to get a place to sit, a lot of the girls start whispering and obviously gossiping about her.

“Wait… isn’t she an idol? She is! What is she doing here?!“, an upset Miso asks in a rushed voice, the girls around her looking as devastated. 

“That is Butterfly’s Joey.“, one of the girls answers and stares at the new contestant as if she was trying to kill her with laser stares. She grins however which gives her cute appearance some pretty irritating vibes.

Jiwoo, 18, student, the interview description of her informs the viewers as she leaves out a rain of complaints. “It’s unfair that she’s here! What is she even doing here?! She’s not here for the guys anyway! She just wants more fame! Or wait… is she here for the guys? Is she here for…?…?!“

Inguk soon is back to regain the spotlight, standing in front of all the women and everyone silences as he is starting to talk.

“Again, I welcome you here at the Bachelors’ Mansion and I am very pleased about the amount of beautiful women I have right in front of me.“ He grins widely before he goes on. “As you know, there will be seven bachelors that you can get to know in this show. But nobody of you knows who of them is a hidden card, a bachelor who is here for love and who is a billionaire. Some of the bachelors are only here to irritate you. So… good luck finding out who of them is going to be a perfect boyfriend and who of them is just making a joke of you.“ The charming grin suddenly has something impish. “I hope you’re as curious as our viewers to finally get to know our bachelors.“ Seo Inguk poses with his arm to present the bachelors who one by one have their entrance.

First of them is Seokjin who sits on top of a white horse riding up to the pool area until he reaches the beginning of the garden, gets off the hoarse and walks over to Inguk, the lights accompanying him as he walks. He’s looking very excited and even a bit nervous. “Hey, I’m Kim Seokjin and I am a fashion designer. My ideal type has a personality…hmm…similar to a puppy, is good at cooking, kind and takes good care of me.“

As he finishes someone clinks a knife against his glass and immediately the girls all turn around and face Namjoon who nonchalantly gives the girls a hint of a smile. Some of the girls immediately recognize him and pretty much react as Sunhee reacted when she saw Inguk the first time standing in front of the mansion. “Hey ladies, I’m Kim Namjoon, I’m a rapper and my ideal type is someone who has a y body but also a y brain. It’s someone who is thoughtful and also confident.“

From the balcony someone starts screaming and the heads of the girls turn around again to follow the source of the noise running over the balcony, a red cape adding to his suit, and then he just jumps off it straight into the pool while pulling a superman pose. Some of the girls let out a shocked gasp and everyone is tensed up when the person surfaces and screams again. “OH MY GOD! WHY ISN’T THIS HEATED?!“ The young man climbs out of the pool and starts shaking like aspen leaves, his whole entrance being not as cool as he must have planned it to be. Inguk soon is there next to him, to cover the guy in a big towel. “I-I’m Jung Hoseok a-and I-I want to b-be your personal s-super hero. I’m a d-dancing teacher f-for kids.“, he speaks while still shaking. Just looking at him makes the contestants feel cold.“I-I just want a t-thoughtful girlfriend w-who loves me and c-can cook something f-for me.“ 

Very non-dramatical the next bachelor simply just walks up to Seokjin, Inguk and Hoseok and stands there without even trying to smile. “Min Yoongi. Music producer. I connect through music.“, he introduces himself very, very short-spoken with the eyes still all on him as if he is about to add something else. A long moment in which Hoseok is still trembling next to the others passes and the wet boy finishes the introduction for Yoongi. “That’s it!“, he announces impatiently.  

Hoseok shrieks the next moment when the sound of a helicopter suddenly appears and the machine lowers on top of the gathering, the cold winds hitting the poor guy who quickly huddles away to join Namjoon’s side at the other end of the group’s gathering. On a ladder that hangs from the helicopter Jimin is holding onto it with just one hand and one leg at the ladder. He poses before he jumps off when the distance to the ground isn’t that big anymore and has to shout so the contestants can hear him. “I’M PARK JIMIN! I AM A PERSONAL TRAINER! AND ALL I NEED IS A NICE AND CUTE GIRL!“

The helicopter doesn’t set off yet as another guy is inside of it and when he looks out he starts screaming high-pitched and grabs onto the sides of the door as if his life is depending on it. “NO! NO, NO, NO!“, he shouts but the guy behind him says something to him and he obeys and hesitantly climbs down the ladder which Jimin had held onto like a movie star just a moment ago. Taehyung is shaking just as much as Hoseok until he feels the ground underneath his feet again and sighs loudly. The helicopter finally takes off again and Taehyung waits a second until he can speak without the disturbing background noise. “Hey girls. I am Kim Taehyung, a saxoponist who came straight from the sky to you and who looks for a caring girl with a lot of aegyo.“, his deep voice makes his every word sound very y and his bedroom eyes he puts on on purpose just add to it. It would have been perfect… but Taehyung ruins it by showing two V signs with his fingers while turning his face up and giving the girls a gigantic and pretty weird looking smile.

For the last bachelor to appear, the girls expect something really big to happen. The camera shortly shows the Victoria Secret model Hana talking to Sunhee, both seeming to be excited about the entrances.

Jungkook, however, doesn’t go for a big entrance. He just walks in through the house side and smiles while he walks over to Hoseok and Namjoon. This time some of the girls can’t contain themselves anymore. Miso is the first to vocalize her astonishment. “OH *censor sound*! Jeon Jungkook!“ Next to her Jiwoo also lets out a squeal of excitement while her whole body shakes in excitement.

An interview sequence is shown again. A girl whose description box reveals her as Geum Jiho, 22, a professional gamer. “To be honest…“, she says and then laughs a little, “…when I first saw Jungkook I had no idea who that was.“

In comparison to her Miso is shown again, leaving out a flow of censored words before she breathes heavily. “Jeon Jungkook! There is *censor sound* Jeon Jungkook in the house!“

“My name is Jeon Jungkook, I am a singer and my ideal type is someone who would make a good wife,is smart, good at cooking and at singing. She has to be kind and if she has pretty legs, the better.“ He bows shortly before Inguk takes over.

“Soooo, dear ladies. These are the seven bachelors of this season. And you just got a first impression of each of them - which leads to your first challenge. The first impression challenge.“  The atmosphere suddenly changed and also the lights made a dramatical switch. Even the background music turned into something dramatical. “The first impression is everything. This challenge will be about the first impression you make on the bachelors. At the end of this evening, each of the bachelors will hand out one First Impression Rose to the girl he thinks made the best impression on him. Good luck ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the night.“ Inguk smiles and then leaves.

The girls are suddenly left alone, finally realizing what they have to do. While the boys already get moving, each of them heading towards a different direction, some contestants are going straight for certain bachelors.

Minhye, 19, an Ewha student pops up and her interview shows her worries.“Actually…I had no idea who I should be going for. That was…tough.“

Two of the women follow Yoongi to the bar, Mihoon and the girl that obviously didn’t like the bubbly orange juice shows up the next moment in an interview snippet. “Yoongi is gorgeous!“, Areum, 19 and student says.

Seokjin also has girls gathering around him pretty soon. Hana approaches him first and the fashion designer looks surprised as he recognizes her. “Hana Liu!“, he calls her and immediately she smiles and gives him a short hug. “It’s been a while!“, she says and the other girls give her death stares. 

“Are we in a disadvantaged position?“, Sara speaks in a single clip, being labeled as a  20 year-old SNU student. “Competing against a Victoria Secret model? I’d say yes.“

Yeeun, 21, student also pops up. “A-About the other girls? I think…they’re pretty?“ The blonde girls has something ver naive on her and she looks uncomfortable being asked to judge the others.

Hana and Seokjin both walk over to one of the couches to take a seat, other girls immediately looking at them. Jiho, the gamer girl, suddenly gets big eyes. “Wow…your eyes are so pretty!“, she says and looks at Seokjin who looks back at her for a second in pure silence before he breaks out laughing.

“Thank you!“, he says and he means it but the girl turns all read, gets up, bows apologetically and runs off. To not gain too much attention she just joins another group. The group of Jimin. And the girls freezes in a second, unable to function anymore.

The scene shifts and Hoseok is shown, sitting somewhere alone with Yumi and they already seem to be in a deep conversation. The guy isn’t shaking anymore but that probably is a result of the amount of towels covering him.

“I have to tell you something.“, she starts and looks concerned. “I…have a 3 year old daughter.“  Hoseok listens without interrupting her once, nodding and being all earnest when she talks. 

“I don’t think dating someone who has a child is bad.“, Hoseok says in an interview. “A child is someone who resembles you. So if the person you love has a child… it’s even better, isn’t it? You’ve the double amount of person you love.“ He has a bright gummy smile on his lips and a spark of naivety in his eyes but it doesn’t look as if he is telling a lie.

Back to the bachelors and the challenge, Namjoon is the one with the biggest group of girls around him. The closest to him is a girl labeled as Bunbun, a 21-year old bartender and waitress. She looks up at Namjoon as if he was the most fascinating person she’d ever seen in her entire life. And her interview reveals why. “I know Namjoon’s music. He’s a genius. And he’s funny!“

What she calls funny, though, is shown the next moment as something pretty…direct. Namjoon and Jungkook are together at the side, talking alone. There is one contestant that they don’t seem too happy about. 

“That girl over there.“, Jungkook says and doesn’t point at her but gives a shirt nod into her direction. “That is Jaemi and she’s from my company. I don’t know what she’s doing here but I don’t think she’s here for the right reasons.“

“She’s an idol?“, Namjoon asks and looks a little surprised at first but then pats Jungkook’s shoulder. “I’ll take care of it.“

The older of the two walks back to the girls who are waiting for him, Bunbun, Jaemi, Jiwoo, Yeonhee, Johanna, Minseo and the woman that had left Inguk in front of the door without telling him her name. As soon as she is shown on the screen, she finally gets a name and occupation. Ryu Nara, 22, Matchmaker.

 Namjoon doesn’t seem to be the only one who isn’t keen of the idol. Jiwoo looks as if she’s about tho strangle Jaemi… but she smiles. The idol herself doesn’t seem to notice it.

“So, Jaemi.“, Namjoon directly addresses her once he’s back. The girl looks up at him, ready to answer whatever he’ll ask her. “You’re an idol, right? What else can you tell me about yourself EXCEPT for the idol thing?“

Jaemi looks a bit astound by him being so forward about the whole matter and looks for words. “U-uhm… I-I think I did pretty good at school. I ranked one of the best at my school.“, she answers and even smiles proudly at him but he turns her down with his cold glance at once.

“Which school did you go to? Daewon Foreign Language High School? Minjok Leadership Academy?“

Now she seems uncomfortable. “None of them…“, she answers and looks at the ground. The young idol looks as if she is about to run away.

“Then it’s not even worth mentioning it. Stick to your idol thing.“, he tells her and gets up, obviously annoyed by the girl. Nara who was the whole time observing starts chuckling as he leaves and she shakes her head before she gets up too and walks over to the bar where a girl with colorful hair is observing the whole thing while talking to Jiho, who after embarrassing herself in front of Seokjin, found a shelter in the other girl.

“Ohman, they are gorgeous!“, the dip-dyed girl says and her interview fades in. Juna, 22, actress and model. “I can’t believe I am stuck in paradise. Like seriously. Did you see all those beauties around?“ She starts dancing on her seat. “Juna’s Paradise, this is!“

“I know right…“, Jiho agrees and sighs. “And I just made a fool out of myself in front of one of them…“ 

Nara listens for just a moment, scans both of the women and then tells them something which makes them actually act. “You two want to stay here, right?“, she asks and the girls look over to her. “You should get yourself a rose then. Look at the boys… who of them would be the easiest to impress? The playboy over there maybe?“ She points at Jimin who drew very close to some of the girls who act all shy and embarrassed. 

“But how would you impress someone like him?“, Jiho questions and shakes her head. 

Nara chuckles. “Just do something nobody else dares to do. Yet. Think of what would impress you the most. I’d think about something if I was you unless you don’t care about staying here. They’re giving out roses tonight…what if you have to go home after this short challenge?“

Juna shortly looks at Nara, raises her eyebrows and decides that she doesn’t want to go yet. “I’m not going anywhere! I’ll stay in Juna’s Paradise!“, she tells them and stomps straight towards Jimin. 

The moment she reaches the little group, she just takes advantage of the surprise moment and kneels over the bachelor on the couch. Her hair suddenly blocks every possibility to see what she’s doing to Jimin but she lowers her head and the alarmed faces of the other girls fill the screen. 

“I was surprised!“, Yumin, 19, another student comments. Her colorful hair is serious competition to Juna’s hair. “But I was a little sad it was Jimin. I thought he was cool. Are they dating now?“ She really looks as if she’s serious about the question.

Finally Juna brushes her hair over one shoulder, her face still close to Jimin. “Hi, I’m Juna. Don’t forget me.“ And she’s back on her way to the bar with Jimin looking after her. And he’s obviously amazed by her approach. But except for him nobody seems too impressed. The girls, even those who were busy with others just a second ago, look at her with dropped open mouthes. 

An interview section opens again and shows Jimin who looks into the camera with his arms crossed. “Yeah, that kiss…“, he says and starts laughing. “Well… she didn’t really kiss me. She was giving me a little smooch on the cheek, that’s it.“ He shrugs and then Juna is shown, laughing herself, wholeheartedly.

When Juna’s back at the bar, Nara is already gone. And the camera instinctively follows the gorgeous woman who is heading for none other than Jungkook. Miso, Areum, Jaemi and Jiwoo are with him, Areum trying to tell him something while the rest listens. Nara interrupts them simply. “May I steal you for a sec?“ Jungkook gets up and nods. “I’ll be back.“,he promises the others and Areum almost gets up herself. “S-Sing a tune and I’ll see you soon!“, she shouts after him and nervously looks at the others. 

Miso laughs. “Girl, that was a bad one.“

The very first ‚rose ceremony‘ starts with Inguk standing in front of the girls, the bachelors lined up right behind him, each of them already holding a rose in their hands.

“Ladies, it’s time. You got to know the bachelors and the bachelors got to know you. So let’s start the first rose ceremony in which the bachelors will hand out a first impression rose to those girls that left the strongest impression on them. Gentlemen.“ Inguk makes places for the bachelors and the ceremony starts.

Namjoon is the first to hand out his rose and he calls out Bunbun. She accepts the rose and gives him a short, thankful smile. Yoongi is next and the girls all look tensed when he looks up from his rose to face them. “Sunhee.“, he calls his choice out and everyone is left speechless.

“I think nobody expected Yoongi to choose Sunhee.“, Yubi, a 22 year old Yonsei student comments and sighs. “Which means that we all have to be a little bit more active. But yeah. I am disappointed.“

“Jaemi.“ Once Jungkook announces his choice, Namjoon immediately looks over to him with a frown, judging him frontally for his decision but Jungkook just shrugs and looks over to the others. Nara is shown giving him a short smirk.

“What did you think you were doing?“ For the first time the interview section features two persons. Namjoon and Jungkook sitting next to each other. And Namjoon doesn’t look happy at all. Jungkook just laughs. “I just want to find out what’s with her.“, he says and shrugs. “I got a good advise, so I decided to see where it’s going.“ Namjoon roles his eyes before the section is over.

Seokjin chooses Hana and Jimin, oh wonder, Juna. Hoseok hands his rose to a very touched Yumi and Taehyung makes an act out of who he’s handing the rose. He walks from one side of the contestants to the other and back again until he makes a short pirouette that ends in a dab and his rose almost hits Aejin’s face. “For Derpina.“, he announces. Since the girl didn't show up during the episode before, she is labeled now as 21 year old fashion designer and rookie CEO.

“U-uhm thank you!“, she says and takes it, Taehyung shortly winking at her. 

Now that the roses are all handed out, Inguk arrives back in front of the girls faces them, some who didn’t get a rose look a little worried, some just don’t care. “Congratulations to those who got a rose. The rose means you’re safe from the next eliminations. To the others: You may try not to loose the next challenge otherwise you might go home. But for now…the game begins.“
