Chapter Nine
Uneasy Hearts Weigh the MostSorin sighed as she recalled the past 72 hours. She thought everyone had died that day. What she wasnt prepared for was to see her brother. Her brother who was supposed to be dead. She knew her memory was spotty but she would have remembered if her brother was alive. He was sitting in her living room when she got home. He looked the same way he did all those years ago. Sorin could remember every inch of that day up to when everything happened. She remembers getting up for school, her brand new Adidas sneakers got a scuff that day and she was so angry about it. She remembered how the teacher kept picking his nose and eating the boogers, all 19 of them. Sorin remembered the smell of her parents and how her mom always smelt like fresh baked cookies, and her dad smelt like pine. She remembered how her brother would call her sweetpea, and how they would spar in the backyard. Even after all of that she remembered his death the most clearly. The most ed up thing is he didnt even remember her. It was like she was a obstacle that needed to be removed. She was okay with the beating to near death, what she wasnt okay, was that the took her spaghetti and one of his lackeys stabbed her dog.
Then she just had to go to to the hospital. Worst of all, Jay was the one to take her. His meer image alone makes her heart flutter like shes some adolecent kid with a pathetic crush. When she wook up in the middle of the night and saw that they were cuddled up together like a happy married couple, she didnt hate the feeling. As a matter of fact, instead of removing herself like she should of, she snuggled further into this complete strangers body, letting his minty smell fill her nose as she burrowed her head into his neck. It was nice to feel wanted and safe. That was something Sorin hadnt gelt in a long time. If none of this stuff with her brother wouldnt have came up, she might of pursued the intrest in Jay.
