Push & Pull"Hey Soojung, my flight got cancelled so I was wondering if you wanted to—"
The girl sighs. "I'm sorry, Jongin. I'm going out with Sehun today."
"Oh," he pauses. He isn't entirely sure of how to reply her. Is he supposed to sound excited? Angry? Jealous? I'm your bofriend. Can't you cancel on Sehun just for once? Of course, he doesn't tells her that and keeps it to himself.
It's her birthday today and all he wanted is to celebrate it with her. He thought that everything would be smooth-sailing after giving her the ring that she has always wanted. When he saw the bright smile on her face and how her eyes shined looking at it, he thought that he had succeeded in winning her heart. But it is always Sehun that she chooses in the end.
He had booked an entire movie theather for themselves yesterday night just to watch her favourite movie to end off her birthday celebration. The guilty look on her face when he told her about it had said it all. She had plans with Sehun that night and cancelled on him again. Over and over again.
Jongin doesn't even know why he keeps chasing after her when a part of him feels that all of this feels like a one-sided relationship. The thing that hurts Jongin the most is that Soojung smiles around Sehun more than when she is with him. Sehun makes her more happier than he does.
"I'm sorry, Jongin. Maybe we can have dinner tonight?" Soojung says over the line after the both of them stay silent for a while.
He closes his eyes in frustration and pinches the bridge of his nose. What if you cancel on me again? "It's okay, Soojung. I'm tired anyways. I'm just going to head home and rest. Have fun with Sehun."
She hums in response. "Take care, Jongin."
Before she hangs up, he spits out whatever he has been keeping in his mind. "Happy birthday, Soojung. I . . I love you." It's the first time that one of them has said the three words to each other. Even after being in a relationship for nearly six months. The line is silent and he thought that she had hang up until he could her breathing over the line.
Soojung doesn't know what to say to respond to that. She had never say those words to Jongin before. She had said that multiple of times easily to Sehun but when she tried to say it to Jongin, nothing could come out of . Maybe it's because she doesn't really feel that way towards Jongin.
"Um, me too. Thanks." She purses he
