Bus

Little Things

Sitting in my room, I held my pencil in circles as I was thinking hard. I had been in the same position for close to an hour. As much as I was bored, I couldn’t think of something to start on. It was starting to get frustrating.

“Kim Taeyeon!” I was startled by the sudden voice.

I looked down from the window and was immediately by a girl who was swinging her arms aggressively at me. It wasn’t the first time she had made a sudden visit to my house and I thought I had already gotten used to it.

I shook my head before shouting back, “What do you want?”

I watched as she disappeared from my view and a few seconds later, footsteps could be heard climbing the flight of stairs in hurry. She must have found an interest activity and wanted me to go along with her again.

“Let’s go!” I didn’t have the time to comprehend the situation when I felt a hand grabbing mine and dragging me out of my room, down the stairs.

“Wait, where are we going? My wallet is still upstairs!” She didn’t answer but instead held up the thing I thought I had forgotten.

“Auntie Kim,” she called out, “I’m going to take Taeyeon with me for a while!”

I thought it was supposed to be a question but it turned out that she didn’t even plan to ask for permission.

“Alright but please be sure to make it back in time for dinner! You should join us too, Tiffany.”

“I will!”

“Have fun and be careful, girls.”

Still holding onto my hand, I followed her as she was grinning widely while walking to the nearest bus stop. She seemed to be very joyful today. Before I could asked why, I was hauled by her arms and I suddenly caught ourselves running for the bus that’s quickly passing us by.

We managed to get on the bus as the driver had waited for us. Bowing to him politely, we tapped our transport card and strolled our way to the second last row of the seats. Tiffany shoved me into the inner seat before settling herself down beside me.

“Where are we going?” I asked impatiently.

“I don’t know,” she turned around and gave me her signature eyesmile while pausing, “but does it matter?”

Her response got me speechless but I remained silent as she suddenly leaned her head closer and rested it on my shoulder. I looked outside to the window and watched as buildings and sceneries passed by. I’ve never found them enjoyable but somehow, they are beautiful today.
