DAY 260
“Mother shouldn’t be that harsh,” I remarked as I was with Keito reviewing some works. “I knew that the accident could possibly affect her ability to bear a child, but Mother shouldn’t have humiliated her like that. Don’t you think Mother is too cold towards her, Keito?”
As I looked up, I found Keito smiled at me. “I assume you already understand why Her Majesty treats her coldly, my prince?”
I sighed. Indeed I understood. Mother had proposed another name from Amakusa House, her family, to be my wife, but since currently Shida House was more powerful than Amakusa, the deal was won by your family.
Now that I've learned about this Kingdom political map, I could conclude the reason why back then we were separated. That time the discussion about my future bride was just started, and Mother didn’t want me to be close to Shida family. At first it was your sister got chosen, but after she passed away, you had to bear the responsibility.
“What’s wrong, Your Highness?”
“Huh?”
“You seem to be thinking g about something other than work.”
I sighed for the nth time. “She stopped, Keito, just like you said.”
“I'm afraid I don’t catch what you mean, my prince.”
“Didn’t you tell me that if she doesn’t mean it then she would stop seducing me sooner or later? She indeed stopped.”
“Isn’t that what you prefer? Then why do you look troubled, my prince?”
“Mother has been pestering me about baby. Yet, I still can’t touch my wife. I think if she is still like her back on our wedding night then it would be easier for me, but she stopped initiating any closeness while I don’t want to force her. Moreover, she is still recovering from her injuries. But Mother doesn’t want to listen. She is even preparing a First Night Ceremony.”
“If you don’t want any of that ceremony, then you should just make her your wife in real sense, my prince. I think it’s not difficult to make a man wanting for a woman that way.”
“Didn’t you hear me, Keito? She stopped. That means she actually doesn’t want to be close to me, and I don’t want to force her if she doesn’t want it.”
Keito suddenly let a knowing smile curve up on his face, “I think that’s not the real problem, my prince. The problem is that…. you are falling for her. The kind of adult love, not merely a childhood crush.”
“What are you talking about, Keito?” I denied. “I'm not.”
