You hadn’t expected the atmosphere to be so stiff.

Jaehwan had been quiet for the last 45 minutes. As you stole glances at him you couldn’t help but wonder if he was still upset over what happened the previous week.

“So I heard you also have a class with y/f/n?” You asked drawing your attention back to the dimpled man in front of you and Jaehwan in hopes to break the awkward silence.

“Ah yeah, we take communications together. Y/f/n told me a lot about you, I’m so glad we could work together.” He grinned, his eyes taking the shape of crescents.

He’s seriously too good looking.

“Please stop moving. I can’t draw you if you keep moving.” Jaehwan cut between your conversation as he icily stared down at the man in front of the two of you, the irritation obvious in his voice. 

“Sorry.” You looked over at him. This isn’t the time to be making conversation, it’s only natural he’s angry.

You looked back at the dimpled man, his face painted with the slightest smirk before he looked over at you and smiled again.

Luck really had a way of laughing at you. You weren’t sure how you were paired into a project of three. You didn't really know why Jaehwan was in a fowl mood and the man in front of you seemed to find joy in that.

As you began sketching Hongbin’s figure, the previous days replayed in your mind.

You had planned to walk straight into the classroom to hear the new assignment you'd be working on for the next month.

Instead you were faced with a man sitting in your seat. The mere sight of him made you blush. His face was beautiful; innocent wide eyes, a chiseled jaw line, a straight nose, and a beautiful dimply smile that greeted you. His body proportional, you could see his defined collarbones and his arms looked nice and toned. He was practically a living statue and you couldn’t help but swoon a little when you saw him perfectly sitting here.

“Hi you must be, y/n. I’m Hongbin, sorry I took your seat.” His voice was deep and velvety.

His gaze on you only deepened your flushed cheeks.  

Your professor interrupted your thoughts before you could utter a response, “Class, this project is joint with the photography club. Your partners are those at your stations. They must be portrait paintings and are due one month from today. You can find the rest of the requirements on our class page.”

You could hear a flurry of greetings all around you. Your eyes naturally going over to Jaehwan’s station but to your confusion he had no partner.

“Jaehwan, pair up with anyone you want since the photography class is short one person.” You professor said before leaving everyone to themselves.

You thought he would choose the group next to him but to your shock he stood up and walked toward you with a wide smile plastered on his face. “I look forward to working with you y/n.”

“Name’s Hongbin, nice to meet you Jaehwan. Do you have both preferable work hours? I’m most free from the afternoon to the evening.” Hongbin grinned interrupting Jaehwan.

“I’m so lucky, you’re gorgeous.” You blurted out as you looked up at Hongbin, noticing his tall stature; he and Jaehwan were nearly matched in height.

“E-eeh? T-thanks.” You could see the blush on his cheeks as he rubbed the back of his neck with his left hand.

Did I just? I just said he’s gorgeous. He is but that’s so embarrassing AND I SAID IT IN FRONT OF JAEHWAN. He think’s I’m a creep. Can I go die in a hole now? You mentally scolded yourself at the realization of your own comment.

Now here you were stuck in this awkward silence. You looked over at Jaehwan’s sketch and back at yours. Both of you had the general outline you needed to start painting.

“I think this is good for today, don’t forget to wear that same outfit for every session.” You looked over at Hongbin as you placed your pencil down.

Jaehwan quietly nodded in agreement, his usual smile nowhere to be seen.

“Why don’t we go to the Jellyfish coffee shop so we can talk about my part of the project?” Hongbin suggested as he stood up.

“I actually work there. I have time during my break if you don’t mind waiting.”

“No problem, what about you Jaehwan?” Hongbin asked cocking his head in Jaehwan's direction. 

“Sure, just let us put our equipment away.”

Both you and Jaehwan walked to the storage room with your canvases and pencils in hand.

“Is your hand okay?” Jaehwan asked after placing his materials away.

“Ah – yeah, it’s fine.”

Jaehwan grabbed your left hand and looked at it closely before breaking out into a huge smile. “That’s great.”

I’m going to explode he’s too close.

Hongbin peered at you and Jaehwan from the doorway before he answered the person over the phone, “This is going to be fun. She’s so cute.”

“You think this is going to work?”

Hongbin smiled into his receiver, “Of course it is.”
