Chapter 4
Right Beside YouJungkook went inside his house, a frown plastered on his face. He slumped on the couch before he heaved a sigh. He stared blankly at nothing in particular thinking of that unfaithful night. How could I forget? How could I forget the night my sister died… In front of my eyes.
“Jiyeon!” he shouted, but his feet never made a move. He was frozen on the spot watching as the car collided with his sister. “Jiyeon” he whispered, his feet wobbling before he finally lost his strength and tumbled on the floor. He watched with tear-filled eyes the almost lifeless body lying on the cold hard road in front of their house, surrounded with blood.
He watched as Taehyung went out from his house and when the brunette’s eyes suddenly falls on the body on the road, there was a look of horror on his face before the older ran and retrieve the body. While trying to lift Jiyeon’s bloody body, the brunette suddenly looked up and their eyes met. The older’s eyes softened as if telling him it wasn’t his fault, but Jungkook knew it really was his fault.
“I could have saved her” he whispered, tears slowly starting to form in his eyes. “I could have pushed her out of the way” he breathed out a shaky breath “but I was scared” tears in his eyes slowly started to fall. “Scared for her” his voice croaked “and scared for myself” the tears just fell from his eyes one after another as he clutched on the throw pillow he was holding.
He continued to sob, not caring whether anyone might suddenly enter their house and see him. He mumbles “It’s all my fault” continuously as he continues to cry. Jiyeon-ah I’m sorry.
His parents got home and found their son crying on the couch. Mrs. Jeon immediately went beside the sobbing Jungkook and hugged him “M-mom” the youngest called out “I-It’s my fault” his mom looked at him confused. “Jiyeon’s death, it’s all my fault” He repeated, only clearer trying hard to make his voice clear. His mom hugged him again, even tighter whispering “It’s not your fault” over and over again trying to convince him. They don’t understand. They’ll never understand. I’m scared to make them understand.
It was three weeks after, but it seems as if nobody can get over Jiyeon’s death. Most of them turned silent, as if one word can trigger any memories that could make them remember Jiyeon. But there were two people who were most affected by the death, Taehyung and Jungkook.
Taehyung turned silent, only answering one word when asked while Jungkook would suddenly space out as if he’s in deep thought. The two were the most changed after the accident, from being the noisiest to the most silent. Nobody blamed them though, Jiyeon was important to both of them.
Although Jungkook turned silent, he never gave up on trying to cheer the other up. He would constantly bug the brunette trying to make him laugh, but of course nothing worked. The older would constantly push him away but he never stopped trying.
“Hyung, basketball practice later, you should go. Suga hyung would surely scold you if you don’t” Jungkook said, smiling widely at the older who only looked at him with a blank expression. “Jungkook, I’m not going.” The older replied.
“But hyung, you’ll get punished for always missing practice.” The younger replied. “I s
