“When’s the next time you’re going to find yourself a boyfriend, hyung?”

Chanhee nearly spit out the water he was drinking as he looked at his younger brother in shock. Changhyun grinned when he saw Chanhee’s reaction.

“Changhyun, why are you even asking me this?” Chanhee tried not to glare at the soccer player who was currently finishing his homework at the dining room table.

The two were just relaxing on a Sunday night at home and it was fairly quiet until Changhyun started talking.

“Well, it’s been a while since I’ve had a brother figure around.” Changhyun mumbled, playing with his pencil.

“A brother figure? I’m your biological brother!” Chanhee narrowed his eyes at the younger boy before taking a seat next to him at the table.

“I mean, I want someone to play soccer with! No offense hyung, but you would probably be the worst soccer player. You would probably trip over your own feet.”

Even though he hated to admit it, Chanhee agreed with his younger brother. In no way was Lee Chanhee an athlete.

“Don’t you have your teammates for that? You guys work well together.” Chanhee said, thinking about a certain blond that he had met last week.

“You have a point… I guess you can stay single for a while then.” Changhyun grinned at Chanhee who merely flicked his forehead in reply.

“Finish your homework, you little brat. I’ll be going to work in a few.” Chanhee said as he stood up and started walking to his room.

Even though he had class the next morning, Chanhee had agreed to take nightshift at the café he worked at. He would most likely regret his decision in the morning, but he really needed the money. It was becoming harder and harder to support himself and Changhyun as time went by. Even though everything seemed to be going smoothly, Chanhee knew that expenses would eventually increase as Changhyun nears his entrance exams for college.

“What time will you be back in the morning?” Changhyun asked as he followed Chanhee into his room.

“I should be back by four o’clock, but I have class a few hours after that. I don’t think I’ll be able to make you breakfast.” Chanhee replied, searching for his uniform in his closet. He sighed in relief when he finally found his dress shirt.

“It’s okay. I think Byunghun volunteered to take me to school tomorrow.” Changhyun said as he walked out of his brother’s room.

“Byunghun? That’s the blond kid on your soccer team, right?” Chanhee tried his best to act as if he had forgotten who Byunghun was. It was best to keep a distance from the teenager.

“Yeah, he usually drives to school, but we have a project to give to our teacher tomorrow. So he’ll be picking me up in the morning.” Changhyun said from his room, not catching onto his brother’s strange behaviour.

Chanhee shook his head, trying to clear his mind from thoughts of the blond soccer player. He quickly changed into his uniform which consisted of black pants, a white dress shirt, and also a black vest. Chanhee took extra effort into fixing his hair, hoping that he would be able to charm the customers into giving him a bigger tip.

The better he looked, the more money he made.

“By the way, I got a text from mom saying that she managed to send more money without dad knowing. Should I check the bank tomorrow?” Changhyun asked softly as he walked back to Chanhee’s room.

“It’s most likely just money for you, Changhyun. You know they never send me the money.” Chanhee said as he started tying his shoes.

It was three years ago when Chanhee had made the decision to come out to his parents. He was a junior in high school and was hoping for his family to accept him, but it didn’t turn out the way he was expecting. His father had started yelling about how disappointed he was and his mother wouldn’t stop crying for days.

He became an outcast in his own family.

So Chanhee left as soon as he graduated high school and for some reason, Changhyun followed him. His younger brother used the excuse that the apartment that Chanhee was renting was closer to his high school, so he would live with him. But Chanhee already knew the truth.

Changhyun was just like him.

“I’ll give you half of the money. It’s the least I can do.” Changhyun said as Chanhee started to walk towards the front door. He put his coat on and smiled at his brother before shaking his head.

“Use that money to buy new shoes for soccer. What are those called again? Cleats?”

“Okay, but can we go shopping together, hyung?” Changhyun looked up at Chanhee, feeling a bit hopeful.

“Of course. We can go as soon as I get a day off.” Chanhee smiled once more before kissing his brother’s forehead.

“Now, be a good boy and sleep early! I won’t be able to wake you up in the morning since I’ll be asleep.”

Changhyun nodded and opened the door for Chanhee, waving goodbye before closing the door behind him, making sure to lock it.

It was going to be a long night without his brother home.

Hours later, Chanhee finally returned to his apartment. He had stayed at the café for an hour more than expected, helping the owner paint a new sign. He was physically and mentally exhausted after working for so long.

“My room is too far…” Chanhee yawned before taking off his shoes and coat, leaving them on the floor because he was too lazy to properly organize them.

“Might as well just take a nap on the couch.” After yawning once more, Chanhee settled himself onto the couch in the living room area, falling asleep only moments later.

It was nearly seven o’clock in the morning when Changhyun woke up, startled by his own alarm. He took a quick shower before returning to his room and changing into his school uniform. His dark blue pants were neatly ironed for once and Changhyun made a mental note to thank his brother for it.

Changhyun! Your phone is ringing! Your phone is ringing!

Changhyun groaned as he heard his annoying ringtone. Chanhee thought it would be a good idea to record his voice as the ringtone of his phone.

“Hello?”

“Changhyun. Your apartment is 5B, right?” Byunghun’s voice echoed throughout the speaker, causing Changhyun to pause for a moment.

“Yeah, how did you know? I never told you.” Changhyun replied as he was fixing his backpack.

“…You mentioned it before, don’t you remember? Anyway, I’m here at the door.” Byunghun chuckled and Changhyun quickly ended the call, hurrying to open the door for his teammate.

“I guess I forgot I told you where I live.” Changhyun laughed, letting Byunghun into the apartment.

“It’s okay, you told me a long time ago.” Byunghun grinned and messed up Changhyun’s hair.

“It took me like five minutes to fix my hair!” Changhyun whined and the blond couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

“Changhyun… You’re too loud early in the morning.” A voice called from the couch and Changhyun yelled in surprise when he saw Chanhee suddenly appear.

“Sorry hyung. Byunghun is here now so we’ll be leaving soon.” Changhyun smiled at his brother before running back to his room to grab his backpack.

“Good morning, Chanhee hyung.” Byunghun couldn’t help but smirk at the brunette’s sleepy appearance.

Chanhee’s eyes widened when he caught sight of Byunghun at the front door. He groaned before lying back on the couch, trying to hide from the high school student.

He really couldn’t escape.
