“This is Choi Youngjae. He’s a 96 liner and he passed an audition in Mokpo. He did beautifully and there was something about him that told me he would work well in the new 2014 boy group I am debutting, so it will be the seven of you now.”

The six were quiet and stared at the ground with mixed emotions. The new member looked at them and pouted as he knew this would happen. He didn’t ask for it; JYP decided himself. What else was he supposed to do?

“I know you guys might be upset, but-”

“Of course we’d be upset! We have worked hard all these years and all of a sudden a random guy comes in and he can debut with us? He hasn’t done anything compared to us! We have worked years for this moment. Jaebum and I are debuting a second time for this moment and the others have waited for their debut for a long time. All of us have listened to your words and obeyed every command. But not this one over here. This is unfair!”

“Jinyoung! Stop it! That is no way to talk to the our boss!” scolded Jaebum. He couldn’t believe that Jinyoung had the audacity to speak in such a rude manner.

“No, Jaebum. He’s right. I know. I’m sorry that it is like this, but you have to trust me when I say that he will be a good addition to the team. Look at the Wonder Girls and 2PM, and all of the other people who have lived their dreams in success because they trusted me. You guys have to do the same. I’m not saying that Youngjae’s absolutely amazing and better than you guys. No, I’m not. I’m saying that he will balance out the group well and be a good addition.”

Tears ran down Jinyoung’s face as he thought of all the hard work he has put into his debutting and re-debutting, and for this new kid to just come in without working a sweat and get the same privilege that he does. But Jinyoung couldn’t say that. He couldn’t yell at the boss twice. He couldn’t voice his opinion properly, so he just teared up instead.

“Have you thought of a group name and a title track yet?” asked Jackson, breaking the stiff silence.

“In fact, I have. With seven of you, the group will be named GOT7. The number 7 is a lucky number, so 7 members with good luck. 7 people that GOT luck. I will be sending you guys the sheet music right after this meeting. Your vocal and dance teachers already got them last week. Expect to debut in January of 2014. Work hard and get to know Youngjae. He’s a really nice person.”

The seven members left the room, Youngjae walking out last.

“Hey, Youngjae. It’ll be okay.”

The CEO smiled at the newest member and he smiled back. He walked out of the door only to get an arm wrapped around his shoulder and a bright face smiling at him.

“So, tell me all about yourself, Choi Youngjae.”
