Chapter 6
RealizationEverything seems to be falling into place for Seulgi. She has a happy family, good social life, and her love life is finally starting to blossom. But then again, why does it feel like something is missing? She’s happy, she’s very happy, yet something tells her she’s not quite content. Was it because she didn’t place high in her last recital? Or was it because her last midterm score wasn’t so hot? Or quite possibly, it could be because her best friend has been out of mind and out of sight for the past two weeks.
Seulgi had been so indulged with Jongin lately that she’s just realized that she hasn’t seen Irene in a while. As much as she knows that it’s her fault, she’s more surprised by the fact that Irene hasn’t tried to contact her at all. Before, the girl would do everything possible to bug the heck out of her for not talking or hanging out with her. But it’s been two weeks, and the only time she’s seen Irene was during psych. And even then, they had to pay attention in lecture and had no time to talk to each other.
It was a slow Saturday morning, and she has no plans for the day. Jongin was busy practicing with his dance crew so she didn’t want to bother him. Homework was already done and sitting in a neat pile on her desk. And she was getting bored of playing Tsum Tsum, so she decided to call Irene and ask if the latter wanted to hang out. The phone rang 4 times before Irene picked up. But before Seulgi could even ask what the girl was doing, weird sounds erupted from the receiver.
“Ahhh, oohh, right there, ughhh.” The sounds made Seulgi pull away from the phone to make sure she had dialed Irene’s number and not someone else’s by accident. After confirming that it was Irene’s, Seulgi was even more confused. What the hell…
“Hello? Hyunie?”
“Mhmm, ow! Be gentle, will ya?”
“Ok, what the hell? Am I interrupting something?” More than disgusted, Seulgi was bothered by the fact that Irene might be doing something indecent.
“Oh, sorry Seul, hold on real quick. Wanie, I think my shoulders are sorer than they originally were, but thanks for trying. What’s up, Seul?”
More than feeling relief that it was just a massage, hearing Wendy’s name made Seulgi frown for some unknown reason. They were already together this early in the morning? Irene didn’t even invite her…
“I was just wondering if you were free to hang out today. Since you know, I haven’t seen you in a while,” Seulgi said, rather shyly.
“Awwh, I miss you too,” she hears Irene coo from the other line. “I already made plans with Wendy today, but you’re welcome to join us if you want. We’re going to go guitar shopping for Wendy.”
As reluctant as she was to accept the offer, Seulgi decided to tag along anyways. For as long as she hasn’t seen Irene, she also hasn’t seen Wendy. And believe or not, she missed them both. Well, maybe one more than the other, but she still miss them nonetheless.

She should have said no… Never has she felt like such a third wheel in her life. She blames the narrow walkway that can only fit two people. So here Seulgi was, walking behind Irene and Wendy, watching them laugh and joke around with each other, oblivious to their surroundings.
And although Seulgi was musically gifted, she only likes singing, never showing much interest in instruments. But what she thought was even more weird was how Irene, someone who probably doesn’t even know how many strings a guitar has, was actually giving inputs on which one she thinks is better for Wendy.
“You should totally get the pink one, it really brings out your eyes,” Irene said.
Never mind… Irene was just being her usual trolling self.
“Oh gee, thanks for letting me know, I never would have imagined pink was my color,” Wendy joked back.
“Hehe glad to be of
