“de aboeji” I said as I picked up his call after excusing myself from the table
“what are you doing now woo bin ah ?” he asked
“at an ice cream shop aboeji, why ?”
“you know so eun’s home right ?”
“so eun’s ? why?”
“I see that you and your mother has already met her when I was away on business purpose, I wanted to meet her” he said and I replied
“oh, but so eun is with us now, if you want I could bring her home aboeji”
“oh, that is very good, I see that my son has already went on a date with his soon to be wife” aboeji teased
“it’s not like that aboeji, sang woo wanted to have ice cream that is why we stopped here”
“does that mean you don’t like so eun ?” leaving behind that playful tone he asked seriously
“ani, I just met her a week ago she is nice and kind, but understand aboeji, I need some time to move on” yeah I lied, but I know I don’t need to move on from shin hye, she will continue to be my girl friend and after a year of this marriage we both can marry, even so eun accepted for that,  a year, just a year I have to act to be a husband for so eun, that’s it.
“If you say so, now bring so eun to meet me” he commanded me and cut the call. Sighing, I went back to our table and our ice creams have already arrived
“so eun sshi” I called
“de woo bin sshi”
“aboeji, wanted to meet you, if you have time, can we go to my house”
“now?” she asked
“any problem ?” she thought for a while and answered
“okay sure” I was actually thinking she will ask ‘am I properly dressed to meet your parents ?’ that’s what all girls think when they first meet the guys parents right ? She is very less concerned for her looks. I just nodded and after we finished we drove to my home. And I took her to the living room as we reached and asked her to wait there while I call my aboeji downstairs.

kim so eun pov:
their house was pretty big as we arrived, they have a lawn, and their living room is full of books,
“I am so glad that you have come dear” said an elderly voice from the door way, I turned around to see an elder standing, I bowed to him, he smiled and sat in a chair,
“come sit here” he said patting on the chair next to him, following I sat there
“how are you so eun ah, I hope you don’t mind me calling that, you are like a daughter to me now” he said kindly,
“I am fine with that ajusshi” I said,
“and I also hope you stop calling me ajusshi, and call me aboeji”
“de aboeji” I said not able to discard his request
“now I have something important to tell you so eun ah, I guess  you will be having this question in your mind that ‘why do these people want me to marry their son?’ right”
“right” and that question has been eating me so much
“you know that your aboeji died in an accident right ?” what has that to do with this marriage
“he died saving me from death”
“what ?” I asked, my voice trembling

I hope you will accept us and this marriage so eun ah” I have no words, and I don’t to what to speak too, and omma also know this, then the family friends is also a lie, I have to think all this out peacefully, I stood up wanting to leave for a while when he called again
“so eun ah” I stopped my steps to listen
“I hope to see you tomorrow morning, and I believe that if you show up you are helping me come out of that misery and you accept us as a family” I just bowed to him and left.

I asked at the petal-less flower in my hand, somehow earlier I managed to bring myself to the nearby park but appa, this marriage was nothing to begin with, it was just a deal, and they are the reason why I am sitting here alone without you beside me, should I do this or not do this? Why am I still confused? Should I forgive them appa? A tear escaped my eye
“are you okay noona?” a little boy came and asked
“I am fine”
“then why are you crying?”
“I don’t know myself why exactly am I crying” I said and he stood there watching me confused,
“I think I am just sad” I said wiping my tears away
“sad ?” he asked I nodded, he immediately put hand in his pocket and took out a chocolate and gave it to me saying
“my omma says chocolate helps us improve mood” a kind act to a stranger, it is what you wanted to show me?  It is not that ajusshi’s fault in your death, it was just fate and it is why omma accepted too I guess,thank you appa, and I can not let that elder to live by guilt all his life for something he was not responsible,for now I will accept this marriage upon all of your wishes, a year later what should be done, I will think of it then. And this thought felt like a huge burden lifted off my shoulder, and I smiled to the kid in front of me.
“thank you, what is your name ?”
“jun hee” he said brightly
“jun hee ah, want an ice cream ? noona will treat you”
“chincha ?” he asked happily
“come lets go jun hee ah”

“who is it this early ajusshi ?” I asked our butler after coming down as I heard the door bell ring when I was coming out of my room,
“it was Miss so eun master”
“so eun? Why did she come here this early?” only after asking that question I remembered what happened yesterday, aboeji asked her to come if she forgave him, I happen to overhear what they talked yesterday and understood why omma and aboeji, so much wanted me to marry her, but after hearing this story I thought she wouldn’t come back, I mean she might not want to be friendly with a family that took her father away right?
“where is she now ?” I asked him
“kitchen” he replied, and I went in the direction of kitchen, aboeji was also there sitting on one of the chairs, I didn’t step in but listen from outside
“aboeji, can I make you breakfast today?” I hear her say
“sure so eun ah, but why?”
“I used to make breakfast for appa sometimes when I was in school, I kind of missed doing it later, so..” her voice trailed off at the end of her sentence,
“dear, you can make me breakfast whenever you want, arasso?” aboeji said
“kumao abeoji” I hear her reply, there was silence for a minute, which aboeji broke
“so eun ah, you forgave us right ?” he asked
“aboeji, it is not your fault anyway, appa would have done that to anyone in that place, and it is fate I guess aboeji, I blame no one, we all blame no one” she replied, and a smile left my lips unknowingly,
“thank you so eun ah”
“aboeji, I have a question ?”
“ask anything you want so eun ah”
“does woo bin sshi know about this ?”
“no, he doesn’t”
“then I have a request aboeji, please don’t tell him” I didn’t hear any reply from aboeji, but why does she doesn’t want me to know that? I turned back to leave when omma came and asked
“woo bin ah, where are you going without having breakfast?”
“oh, I am not that hungry omma” I tried to escape but from omma there is never an escape
“I am not taking no for an answer, come with me” and she dragged me along with her into the kitchen.
“oh so eun ah, you came” omma said
“de, good morning” so eun politely said to omma and wished me too
“good morning woo bin sshi”
“good morning so eun sshi”  I replied her and suddenly aboeji said
“look at these two still using formal language honey, they are acting like they were in 1970’s with one another” trying to tease us, so eun didn’t speak a word out, but she surely felt embarrassed as she didn’t lift her head for a second
“aboeji” I said trying to stop him
“arasso arasso, if you think so I will stop” why is suddenly aboeji acting like this, he took a look at both of us and smiled to himself and then spoke to omma
“honey, so eun is making breakfast today”
“really ? what are you making so eun ah ?” omma asked as she went towards so eun
“I hope it will be good ommonim” so eun said
“we all will like it” so eun smiled to omma. And in a few minutes time the table was filled with food and all four of us took our seats, somehow it didn’t feel to be a normal morning, we actually don't eat together, none of has time for that to do it everyday and we all sitting here and eating together, it felt like Christmas.
