Things would be characterized as stabilizing between everyone despite the whole revelations and stressful incidents that had occurred at the cabin. It’s been 3 weeks after that vacation and it gave both positive and negative effects between all of them, mostly though.

In terms of relationship, Baekhyun and Chanyeol had ceased their cover up so that they’d be free around the guys whenever they’re together. At times they’d even show their public display of affection towards each other even if the gang were around them. Suffice to say that they feel more like themselves now that they stopped acting around for the supposed to be surprise wedding they’ve been planning.

Moving onto Sehun and Kai, they seem to have daintily took a step forward with their relationship. Sehun knew quite well that he’d need to take baby steps for this to work out since Jongin was just barely able to keep into mind that he wouldn’t be left alone. There are still times when the elder thought he was being abandoned whenever they part ways for more than a few hours and it was something that was rather hard to fix since they have different classes and assessments in their own different courses.

It was a great adjustment but Sehun never minded it. As long as Jongin was willing to move forward into accepting that being loved romantically can also assure that you wouldn’t be left out the moment someone says the words “I love you” Jongin on the other hand was reluctant to admit but as the younger had demonstrated, with that he was able to mold himself into a much firmer partner for Sehun even if there’s still doubts that’s corrupting his mind.

  And about Kyungsoo and Jongin, they’ve almost made a turning point in their friendship. After the admittance that he was the past kid that had sworn to him of love and protection, Jongin didn’t know how to confront him for a few days. He was evasive towards Kyung and there are also times that he would deliberately turn around and walk away whenever he sees him up front. It was a painful phase that had lasted for a week but with Baekhyun’s persuasions that Jongin should be strong enough to forgive and forget, Kai gave a small chance for the elder and walked up to him and made amends with his actions.

In about a week Kyungsoo and Jongin started to be friendly again with each other but the closeness between them from a while ago didn’t repeat itself. There were limitations; skinship wasn’t even an option, being alone together in a room doesn’t last for more than 10 minutes or so and no conversation concerning their past.

Disappointed with the restraints that had walled them, Kyungsoo bared the pain and just clung on to how much he’s still able to. Because he knows in his past actions, it was a light punishment for the trauma he had inflicted Jongin.

Even in the midst of the peace and harmony that was taking place in the group, Sehun had never let his guard down over Kyungsoo. He has trust in the elder but he doesn’t want to take a chance if Jongin’s heart is on the line. He doesn’t want Kyungsoo prying for any further affection than a friend and a past acquaintance for Jongin’s love. He was stern at the promise he made to never leave Jongin and to protect him.

Meanwhile, at the present

It was then a casual day at the café, Jongin catering the customers as he served them their drinks, Sehun being at the register and Kyungsoo fixing up the orders for them. They always had a smile in their faces these past couple of days, they didn’t know why but perhaps it was just the effect of a good day laid for them.

“One expresso and a macchiato, for here” Sehun rang the order and gave the copy of it to Kyungsoo. “Hey, Sehun” Kyungsoo cooed as he started to whip up the order, “Yeah?” he looked at the elder who was extracting the coffee “How’re you and Jongin doing with the dating stuff” he asked while focusing on his work.

Sehun on the other hand would be lying if he didn’t say that he’s quite awkward whenever Kyungsoo would ask about him and Jongin but it was already a given since he knows that there are still lingering feelings in him “We’re doing quite fine… actually last night was rather romantic” he tried to sound normal as possible since he always gets this lump in his throat each time he answers those type of questions.

“Really? I bet you’ve swoon Jongin with that romanticist side of you huh?” he chuckled lightly before dishing up the order at the service counter and called out for Jongin to serve it “I… wouldn’t say that thought. There are just those times that I want to be romantic with him… just a little taste of sweetness” Jongin then came and asked the table number, before he left the two he threw a quick glance at Sehun and winked then made his way.

“Looks like he’s throwing back a few at ya” he kids at Sehun who blushed at Jongin’s wink. “Yeah… I guess…” he was uncertain why he was always embarrassed whenever Jongin suddenly gains that type of confidence. “Also, can I ask you something?” there was seriousness in Kyungsoo’s tone but shrugs it off “You already asked me a question a minute ago, what’s another then?” he humored.

“Are you alright with me being around Jongin?” he directly asked but he didn’t face Sehun; he just continued to clean the few parts of the coffee machine as if he wasn’t asking a delicate question. Sehun took a moment to before answering “I’d be lying if I said I’m not” he pared the bluntness. “Then why aren’t you disallowing him to meet me or better yet, talk to me. Aren’t you afraid that I might do something to obtain him?” he continued on with his work.

“Kyung, I am a person who knows his own bounds and with Jongin’s personal decision to be around you despite the past between you, I’m fine and I trust him completely to not question that choice he made. Besides, I heard from him that you’ve already talked it out and I’m glad that there’s no longer a dissonance between us all” he clarified “But how ‘bout the discord with us?” Sehun didn’t expect this one though.

“Uh… well, I could characterize it as a neutral state between us… I mean, who wouldn’t be awkward with the guy that my boyfriend used to love?” Kyungsoo nodded at his point “I don’t feel awkward around you though. Rather, I’m quite ecstatic being with you. Let’s just say that, I’m somewhat comfy in your presence” Sehun raised a brow on his statement.

Well, not that he had looked back a couple of days ago. Kyungsoo had been frequently talkative towards him whenever they’re left alone; not that he couldn’t handle himself, it was just that there are times that Kyungsoo’s questions comes out weird in his thoughts. Three days ago, Kyungsoo asked him what he likes in a guy, the day after he asked him about his favorite movies and dishes are which were somehow good/odd since he received the food he told him plus he and Jongin were both invited to watch the movie he liked at Kyung’s place.

Yesterday was not an exception because Kyung literally talked to him the whole time at work since Jongin asked for a day off since he needed to follow up at his application for another production company. Yeah, he’s fine with Kyungsoo all buddy with him but he can’t help but to feel somewhat intrigue at the thoughts running inside the elder’s head.

“Oh, before I forget. Are you two available later tonight? I’m practicing on making my special marinated rump roast that’s accompanied by some Caesar salad, mashed potatoes and some aged in barrel grape wine. Does that sound inviting?” he asked with a wide grin paired with his brows wiggling. He smiled the moment that a name of a food came out of his mouth.

As much as he found it off that Kyungsoo had become so friendly with him, he couldn’t let down an offer of his well prepared meals. The last time he had one of his cooking was a week after the whole drama at the cabin and he was certain that even Jongin was loving the food. “Of course it is! Last time I ate great food was when Kai’s mom made a grand feast and that was a month ago, setting aside the last invitation you had though” he chuckled but still excited.

“That’s wonderful. Just tell Baekhyun and Chanyeol to come over too, I’d love to have you guys again since my parents are gone for the week for some business trips. I’ll be expecting you guys there at 7 sharp? How’s that sound?” without hesitation Sehun nodded, “Great! I’ll see you there!” he then untied his apron, in which Sehun wondered “You’re leaving already?”

“Oh, I forgot to tell you. I had this day for half the shift. I needed to fetch the books needed to finish our thesis and believe me, those books are hard to find” he smiled and folded his apron. “Oh… alright then, I’ll give you a text once we’re ready” Kyung nodded and proceeded to the staff room to change.

Sehun grinned widely at the thought of having a nice dinner with the guys but most of all, having a semi-romantic dinner with Jongin and with a lovely meal to boot. “What’s up Cheshire cat?” Jongin abruptly slung himself on the counter, partly startling Sehun. “Yah! Don’t pop out like that out of nowhere! I thought I was gonna have a heart attack” he placed his hand on his chest and breathed dramatically.

Kai snickered at his now boyfriend/best friend’s over reaction. “Well if you didn’t daze off of somewhere with that bright grin of your face, you would’ve known that I saw coming” he reasoned but the younger just pouted for a second before sighing in defeat; he’s not in the mood to defend himself from his childish attack “So, what’s the reason for your toothy smile?” he pried.

“Well, Kyung asked me to invite the guys for a dinner at his place. He’s also taking half the shift so he’s about to leave the moment he comes out of the staff room” he elaborated the whole thing “Hmm… dinner at Kyung’s again. Last time we came there I couldn’t help but to drool when I got a whiff of that lovely curried ground turkey with potatoes, lemon pesto chicken pasta and that sweet pumpkin soup! Plus the crème brulee definitely hits the spot” he recalled hungrily.

“What’s on the menu then?” he asked right after he his tongue “Rump roast, Caesar salad, mashed potatoes and some aged in barrel grape wine as he said… well I’m not sure if I’d let you have some wine; knowing how easily you get tipsy, I don’t want to bring home a sluggish drunk” he narrowed his eyes on Kai teasingly “Hey, I just get carried away after a few drinks here and there but this time it’s different. It’s wine Sehun, not just beer of hard liquor” he whined.

Sehun smirked at the action “You haven’t had a drink of wine and you’re already whining” he greatly emphasized the word. “Ha… ha… quite the laugh Mr. Punny man” he shot back with a repressed smile. “Well, for me I’ll enjoy the wine. I haven’t had some for quite a while”

“Maybe because both our parents doesn’t want us to make it a habit. Even if it’s good for the heart, you like to take it into heart” he intently made a pun of it. “Okay that’s enough, a customer’s coming” he shoved him off the counter to make way for the customer. “Talk to you later then” he clicked his tongue and winked at him.

He couldn’t help but to smile a bit before turning his attention towards the customer that had just arrived.

Meanwhile, Kyungsoo was looking from afar. He watched the two be as lovey dovey as they could get at times. He smirked at the thoughts running inside his head. “What a lovely chance I have to start a spark. I swore that I’d be Jongin’s and that I’d change in order to have him back beside me. I dropped the whole shy and repressed attitude the moment Kai dejected me with my real identity. Now, I think it’s time to claim what’s rightfully mine”
