Chapter 5

Identity Change

Sehun’s P. O. V.

** ** **

Another shoot accomplished! Yehet!

The others went back to the dorm but I’m here now with Suho-hyung.

We’re going to meet Luhan-hyung who’s together now with Umin-hyung.

Umin-hyung went straight to where Luhan-hyung is when he received the message from Luhan-hyung that he is visiting us.

Aw, I really miss the 12 of us together…

Anyway, Luhan-hyung said he’s just in his favorite restaurant so Umin-hyung went straight there. Suho-hyung asked me to accompany him to the studio because he left something there last practice.

Our van pulls for a stop. Suho-hyung quickly steps out of the van. I’m sure he’s excited to see Luhan-hyung, too.

Suho-hyung looks around when he got out of the van.

Is he expecting someone?

I see him shrug so I step out of the van, too.

I don’t know why but my eyes land immediately on the left side of my view.

And I see three men walking towards the same building we’re going into, but in a different entrance.

Yeah, so ordinary.

But no.

Because one man is walking ahead while the two men is following him, carrying a big black bag.

And inside the bag, there’s a head…

My eyes turn wide and I almost drop my phone.

A head. A girl’s head…

And she’s shouting for help.

The man near her bobbing head shoves her head back in the bag.

I can’t ignore her.

I saw her eyes. And they’re pleading. Her eyes shouts fear and confusion.

Guilt will just haunt me if I ignore her.

I tap Suho-hyung on his shoulder---quite hard, I must say---and point at the girl.

Fortunately, both of us saw what was happening before the girl is completely shoved in again after the man in front kicked her from the outside and before she’s completely zipped inside.

Ouch. That kick must have hurt!

And I start to pity the girl.

The men didn’t catch us looking at what they are doing. They seem to be in a hurry.

I look at Suho-hyung and he’s just mirroring my horrified expression. He is just as surprised as I am.

Suho-hyung quickly regains his composure.

He instructed me to follow him quickly.

“Come. I need you to check on something,” he approached one security guard and I hear him say this.

And the guard immediately granted his request---or more like command.

Suho-hyung looks so serious.

We spot the three men. They’re heading to the elevators.

What a disguise. They look like they’re just carrying a new photography light stand. They must have thought of this thoroughly.

We follow them to the elevators.

I see them push the down button while Suho-hyung pushes the up button on the elevator next to the men.

I glance at them and they’re perfectly calm and collected!

Are they experts in these kind of works already?

Maybe they act like that so no one would suspect that there’s something fishy going on.

Well-played, whoever planned this. Well-played.

The men step inside the elevators right away the moment the doors open.

Not a few moments later, our elevator opens, too.

“Why are we going up, hyung?” I ask Suho-hyung as we step inside. “They just went down.”

“I can see that,” he answers. “But we need to be late even at least a few minutes for them to think that we know nothing.”

The guard stiffens. I guess he senses that whatever we’re planning is a bit dangerous.

Well, we’re just going to check what the hell is happening, right?

Ding!

The elevator stops at our studio floor.

“Just wait here,” Suho-hyung says and steps outside.

A few seconds later, Suho-hyung is back in the elevator with us. He hits the button to the basement.

“Here’s the plan,” he starts.

Oh, boy. I’m getting nervous and excited at the same time!

“I will call the police while we go there to check,” he continues. “We will eavesdrop and figure out what the hell is going on.”

Suho-hyung puffs out a deep sigh.

“You,” he turns to the guard. “Keep your gun ready. We’ll be on standby.”

The guard gulps and nods.

“And you,” now he turns to me. “You’re going to film everything secretly. We need footage of what’s going on down there. I have a feeling that this is something big.”

I’ve never seen Suho-hyung like this before. He looks super interested!

But, well, he’s right. I also think this is something big.

There’s a girl---a captive---being dragged into our building. Something isn’t right!

Suho-hyung phones the police. He asks them to just stay on standby outside the building; that he will just call if they need to barge in.

I get what he’s trying to do. Of course he wouldn’t let a ruckus form to startle everyone.

Even I will be startled if the police who are prepared for battle would suddenly go in the building with people around.

And of course, he doesn’t want to alarm those kidnappers. He wouldn’t want them to know that somebody besides them knows about what they are doing.

Wow. Suho-hyung also planned this comprehensively.

We are nearing the first basement.

Ding!

We check, but there are no people.

We go to the second basement and still no people.

Where the hell did they go?

Ding!

The elevator to the third basement opens and we immediately see a man with a gun standing there.

Before he could even point his gun at us, Suho-hyung punches him on his face and he elbows the back of the guy’s neck.

That was so quick. I didn’t know Suho-hyung has combat skills! Maybe he’s our leader for a reason.

He picks up the gun and keeps it.

We’re certain. They’re here.

We walk quietly. And we can now hear distant voices.

Before walking completely out of the little room where the elevator is, we see what’s happening.

We hide but still watch and listen to what’s going on.

I do what Suho-hyung instructed me.

I tiptoe on the way between two cars and I carefully place my phone beside one wheel.

I fix it in a way that my phone stands on its own and captures the scene where all people there is seen in the video.

I hit the record button.

“…who wrote it and where the author lives,” I hear someone talking.

I look at the scene in front of me.

It’s not my thing to eavesdrop but I don’t really get what the hell is going on and I’m dying to find out.

The girl. I see the girl.

She’s just sitting on the floor and her hair is pulled by a man behind him.

With a gun pointed at her head.

What the hell?!

What did the innocent girl do?

Her hair is up to her s and it’s black, but reddish.

That’s all I can see from here.

The one speaking is the woman standing.

With a gun pointed at her head, too.

What the hell is going on?!

Then I see a man standing in front of the poor girl.

Is what I’m seeing true? Or my eyes are just playing with me?

I can’t believe this.

I continue to listen to their conversation.

The captive girl is saying something… English…?

“You even found out how I look like and kidnapped me,” I hear the other woman say.

Oh, so that woman is translating what the girl is saying.

But wait…

Kidnapped…?!

By the old man?!

“Wow, that’s a lot of effort, Mr. Kim,” the woman says.

So my eyes aren’t playing with me?!

The old man is really Kim Young-min?! The man who… caused EXO’s split up. He and the company are the reason why EXO is only 10 now.

But how is this girl involved?

“You made your dogs get me all the way from the Philippines to here in South Korea. I’m impressed. You have all the time in the world,” the woman translates again.

She’s not even Korean!?

“And why did you kidnap me? Because you said yourself that you want me to write a note that everything is false, that my story is fiction, but you missed the fact that my story is under the category of fan fiction.”

The girl is a writer? I heard fans write a lot about us, but why would Mr. Kim kidnap this pitiful girl?

I glance to where Suho-hyung is. He’s on the phone with someone.

Maybe he’s preparing the police when he heard the kidnapping thing.

“So if you reacted that way, it just means that what I wrote there was ing true and you didn’t want the world to know and believe. But congratulations! You just spilled the beans yourself!”

Whoa. I’m amazed with this girl. Despite her situation, she still has the bravery to say what she wants to say.

And she swears. I don’t know but I find this funny and unique.

My amazement turns into disbelief when I see Mr. Kim hit the girl.

So hard. The hit was awfully audible.

And I think I gasped a little loud, too.

Okay. Whatever is happening now is pretty serious. I’m beginning to become really nervous.

“You’re busted, Young-min. Give it up. Just let the people know the truth. They deserve it. And let your artists be free.”

What?

So whatever this girl wrote was about us? And she wanted us to be… free…?

And obviously, Mr. Kim doesn’t want that so he kidnapped this girl?!

I’m lost in thoughts but when I see Mr. Kim pointing a gun at the girl, I panic.

BANG!

I find in instinct where I hear the gunshot came from.

It’s from Suho-hyung’s place.

Suho-hyung is holding a gun. The one that he picked up a while ago. He was the one who fired the gun.

I look at the scene.

The guy who was holding the woman translator captive is down, his left arm bleeding.

Okay.

I’m totally freaking out.
