Chapter 4

Identity Change

Jensen’s P.O.V.

** ** **

I wait.

There is complete silence.

And wait.

It’s so ing silent.

So maybe I’m really dead.

Oh, well. It’s bound to happen.

It is silent. So I’m sure I’m in heaven; since I know that hell is deafening with people screaming.

And that’s a good thing. Who wants to go to hell?

I can’t wait to see what heaven looks like!

I feel relieved that I’m actually in heaven. I know my sins and I honestly thought I wasn’t going to heaven.

But here I am!

But then again, wait.

In hell, there is an endless and piercing noise of screaming people because of pain and agony.

And in heaven, there’s non-stop praise and worship to the Lord. So it must be noisy here, too, right?

But it’s ridiculously quiet.

Purgatory isn’t real. It isn’t written in the Bible.

So maybe I’m just in front of the gates of heaven.

Yeah. That’s it. It’s impossible to be alive anyway.

BANG!

I yank. That really surprised me!

I didn’t think they could use guns here in heaven!

Is this their way of welcoming new people---errr, souls?

Maybe it’s their party popper here!

I giggle at the thought.

How long are you gonna close your eyes, Jensen?

Okay. My subconscious is more excited than me.

So I decide to just open my eyes.

How many times will I be surprised this day? I think I’ve had enough this single ing day already.

I see a guy on the floor. The guy who was pointing a gun at the woman translator's head. His left arm is bleeding. The woman is already running towards the right side.

Young-min points his gun to that direction and ready to pull the trigger.

Oh, god.

I realize the guy behind me isn’t pulling my hair anymore. I’m not handcuffed or anything so I quickly stand up and kick the guy behind me in between his legs.

Oh, you know where I hit.

He drops his gun. I am about to get it but I remember that Young-min is about to kill the woman, too, so I tackle him with all the strength I have left.

And he pulled the trigger on that same time.

It hit the ceiling.

I quickly get the gun that the guy behind me had a while ago but he also tackles me. But I didn’t let go of the gun.

I am easily thrown because of my petite figure and dysfunctional body because of the drug and the pain they inflicted on me a while ago.

Then, an arm wraps around me and I flinch, thinking he’s one of Young-min’s guys who want to wrestle me for a knock-out.

I watched wrestling fights before. And they do gestures like this; kneeling in front or behind you, wraps an arm around you as if hugging you, then carry you and throw you on the ground head first.

Crap. I don’t have enough strength to break away from his grip.

But then I feel his grip getting relaxed when he felt me flinch.

I look up to see whoever this person is.

Oh, god. God has mercy on me.

What a pretty face he has.

Oh, god has mercy. He gives me a chance to see a pretty face in the brink of life and death.

I shake the thought aside when I realize I know this person.

My eyes turn wide and I see his facial expression turn into a confused one.

But, how? Why…?

Why the is Oh Sehun in front of me?!

Of course I’d recognize him! He’s my ing bias in EXO!

I know EXO is under S.M. Ent. and I’m here in S.M. Ent. but he shouldn’t be here!

“Why are you here?!” I exclaim. “It’s dangerous here!”

He looks like he doesn’t know what to do. He points at the direction behind me.

I am about to turn around when I see a guy holding a bat approach us.

He swiftly takes form and ready to swing the ing bat hard.

Things have been happening very fast.

I quickly stand up and go behind Sehun.

WHACK!

The guy hit me on my right back side.

I shout in agony. It’s ing throbbing. I drop the gun that I got then I drop on my knees.

I think I’m going to pass out.

BANG!

I resist the pain I feel. I won’t be unconscious here!

I turn around and I see the guy who hit me bleeding. His right arm is bleeding.

BANG!

Another gunshot. The guy in front of us falls down on his knees then falls on the ground face first.

Then I see a police just right behind him. I realize that the police was the one who shot him that now he fell on the floor.

I don’t know if the guy is just unconscious or dead already.

Since that, I’ve been hearing continuous gunshots. They seem distant compared to the close gunshots I hear but they’re still loud so I know whoever is shooting is in this same basement.

But where did the guy get his first gunshot? The one that caused the bleeding of his right arm?

Sehun suddenly pulls my left arm and encloses it around his shoulder as my support.

He helps me walk.

Then what suddenly surprised me is the gun he is holding.

Is Sehun the one who shot the guy who hit me with a bat?

The thought is quickly dismissed when I realize we’re walking towards the direction where Sehun pointed a while ago.

We’re careful not to get hit by the bullets since I can still hear the not-so-far-away gunshots. I look for where they are coming from.

I look around and, man… There are so many police and more of Young-min’s men. They’re exchanging shots as they hide behind cars and posts.

But I don’t see Young-min anywhere.

I turn to the direction where we’re going.

The woman is there, hiding behind the… company’s security guard?

How long has he been there?

And together with them is…

ing Suho?!

Why the hell is he here, too?!

When he sees me and Sehun nearing, he quickly rushes towards us.

And he also gives me support to walk. He’s at the opposite side of where Sehun is supporting.

We start to walk towards where the guard and the woman are.

Slowly, Sehun and Suho settle me beside the guard.

Then, Suho suddenly grips both my shoulders and says something.

I hear him say another alien language.

I look beside me; at the woman who translates.

She slightly smiles. “Are you okay? Can you still walk?”

Oh, that was what he was saying.

Why he is here, I don’t know. And I don’t know how he got here.

And Sehun, too.

Both of them are thoughtful. They both helped me.

I look in front to face Suho again.

I’m ready to answer but I see something move from my left peripheral.

Like a paranoid, I quickly look at it.

In a very rapid pace, I go behind Suho and hug him from behind.

Suho… His back is broad. And he smells so damn good.

I close my eyes to submerge into my fantasies.

And then I feel a stinging and scorching pain at the right side of my body.

Then, I hear a gunshot near me. It was very loud that it’s almost beside me.

I look at the guard. He was the one who shot the nearby gunshot.

Suho breaks away from my hug and turns around to see me. His eyes are wide open.

He looks down and I didn’t know his eyes could turn wider.

Wow. I can feel life seeping out of me.

Suho shakes me and says something.

I smile faintly. Then I reply to what he just said.

It’s no use. There’s nothing I can do anymore.

I have to accept this fate of mine.

Suho grips me tighter as I feel my knees failing me.

I close my eyes. I don’t have any strength left.

I focus on the sound I hear using the remaining strength I have in my body.

There are a few gunshots left and I hear men shouting. I hear feet running and metals clanging.

Well, I guess this is really the end of me.
